You see, Newport is taking part in the Welsh Government funded Summer of Fun and there’s plenty to do - and loads of it is free! 🥳

Great to join @WelshLabour & @NewportLabour colleagues this morning at @NpTbridge for the sod-cutting ceremony.

The rain didn't dampen our spirits as we looked forward to celebrating the opening of a new visitor centre for our iconic Transporter Bridge! 🌧️🏗️

I'm taking part in the big #ButterflyCount.

Over the past 50 years our native butterfly species have been decimated in the UK - we need to do all we can to protect their numbers before we lose any more #CountThemToSaveThem 🦋 @savebutterflies

In 2014 @trussliz said the fox hunting ban was "a mistake", in 2015 she went as far to say her support for fox hunting was "well-known".

Last night she said she wouldn't revisit the issue and "reopen Pandora's box".

How can anyone trust a word she says on animal welfare? 🦊

Today we remember the thousands of Roma and Sinti men, women, and children who were killed during the Holocaust and remind ourselves that Roma discrimination and hate is still very present today.

In their memory we say never again.

This weekend the annual Newport Hiroshima Commemoration is taking place at Tredegar House.

It's a solemn occasion where we join with interfaith leaders from across our city to remember the innocent lives lost.

Community Drop In Workshop tomorrow in the City Centre with the amazing @TinShedTheatre @ZibaCreativeUK and ArtClwb
It'll be a ROARING success! 🦁

So well done and congratulations to the Lionesses. Amazing achievement and you can rely on the women to get the job done! 👏👏👏

It was good to meet the CWU workers on the picket line in Newport this morning, showing solidarity with their cause.

The pay deal being imposed on CWU workers is a real terms pay cut, and I'm glad to offer them my support. #CWU #Solidarity

I'm proud to be backing Belle Vue Park in the public vote to decide Britain's favourite park.

We’re incredibly lucky to have such a wonderful historic green space right on our doorstep.

Please vote for Belle Vue at the link below 👇 @FieldsInTrust

♻️ I was delighted to join the @Tesco sustainability team this week to celebrate their move to ban plastic in ALL wet wipes they sell.

👏 They’ve shown it can be done.

My campaign to ban all plastics in wet wipes is gathering momentum - read more here 👇

Solidarity once again for those on strike today. @RMTunion @RmtNewport

Workers across the country deserve fair pay and conditions. That is a right we should all support.

Follow updates on the strike action

Solidarity with @RMTunion & @RmtNewport members on strike today.

Transport for Wales staff aren't on strike, but cuts to jobs across the border and in Network Rail will affect us all, making our railways less accessible and more unsafe in the process. 👇

We did it! Today, after ten long years, we’re overjoyed to say that the UK Government has finally ratified the #IstanbulConvention on #ViolenceAgainstWomen. A HUGE thank you to everyone who helped get us here!

The leadership contest should be a sombre opportunity for Tory MPs to take a long look in the mirror and address how they’re failing to tackle the issues facing people up and down the country.

Instead, the navel-gazing continues 👇

I don’t normally do family shares but just to say I am a very proud mum and congratulations to our daughter Elinor - Dr Jones! Thanks to ⁦@cardiffuni⁩ for a lovely graduation day and so many good memories.

Lovely afternoon yesterday at @Newport_Baby_Me Teddy Bear Picnic. It was lovely to see the project in person+speak with those it has helped.
A trail blazer project -Proud to have the minister present to see it😊👏👏 well done to all involved. @newportcitycouncil📸 @jbryantwales

Very glad to be invited back for one of the graduation ceremonies at the ICC Celtic Manor for the University of South Wales. Congratulations to all the students graduating this year and good luck in your future careers.

Yesterday I led a debate in Westminster Hall on the cost of living crisis in Wales.

The problem lies with the current Conservative UK Government choosing parties over policy.

Let me be clear, their inaction has a direct and devastating impact on my constituents in Newport West.

There is a climate emergency.

Yesterday the High Court ruled that the Tory's net-zero strategy doesn't meet their obligations under the Climate Change Act.

I asked Alok Sharma MP, COP26 President, what they were going to do to address it, his inadequate response speaks volumes.

A pleasure to chat with @asthmalunguk today to hear more about their Clear The Air campaign.

Did you know that 1 baby is born every 2 minutes in the U.K. breathing toxic air that’s well above the old World Health Organisation Guidelines?

Sport and recreation are important parts of daily life, yet we’ve had a decade of failure on sport with the Conservative cost of living crisis making everyday access to fitness activities more difficult.

My latest for ⁦⁦@DailyMirror👇

Ballots are set to drop for internal elections on Wednesday!

With the successful candidates safeguarding internal party structures going into the next General Election, it is crucial that we elect candidates that are focused on putting Labour into power.

Please share!🌹

Lord Trimble’s funeral service today was a wonderful moment of reflection on his achievements, both as a family man and politician.

It was an honour to be there and express condolences to his family on behalf of @Keir_Starmer and us all in @UKLabour.

Britain is stuck thanks to a succession of Tory governments.

As leader of the Labour Party, I’m focused on getting us into power.

Only then can we deliver the change that trade unions and working people want and need.

Sunak’s attention-seeking gimmick that will do nothing to solve the worst crisis in NHS history.

This is a dangerous thin end of the wedge that will penalise the most vulnerable and would cost more in admin than it would raise.

NHS leaders agree 👇🏻

Families in need should get help at times like this, not the door to support slammed in their face 👇

Today’s rail strike could have been avoided.

But the Tory government didn’t spend a single second in talks to prevent it.

Labour will grow the economy, transform workers’ rights and secure fair pay.

Absolutely loved playing chess with @theJeremyVine today.

We talked about how the game influenced me as a child - and helps keep me sharp in politics!

Listen here ⬇️

I've set out Labour’s mission for economic growth.

My Government will work in partnership with business, we will re-energise communities and spread economic power to every corner of the country.

This leadership contest is a scrap between political lightweights.

The big hitters in town are @Keir_Starmer and @RachelReevesMP.

And @UKLabour is going to land a knockout blow on whoever emerges from the latest Tory debacle.

Very sad to hear of the loss of David Trimble.

His achievements were profound.

Through determination, clarity of vision and compromise, he helped deliver power sharing for Northern Ireland.

His family, friends and political allies are in my thoughts at such a difficult time.

Whether it's the cost of living crisis or pandemic recovery, our economy has been left weaker and less resilient than our competitors.

Today, @Keir_Starmer will set out how only Labour can deliver the strong, secure, and fair growth our country needs.

It must be Brighton!

#EurovisionsComingHome #1976 #Waterloo #ABBA

On the 50th anniversary of Bloody Friday, my thoughts are with all those who lost loved ones in the atrocities of that day.

@UKLabour remains steadfast in our commitment to peace, stability and progress for all people in Northern Ireland.

The Chief Secretary has just admitted on @BBCr4today that he believes the National Insurance rise imposed by his own department is wrong. How do Tory Ministers expect anyone to believe what they say?

NEW: Inflation at 9.4% - causing yet more worry for families and pensioners.

Rather than fantasy economics, we need a real plan for a stronger, more secure economy.

Only a Labour government will build the high wage, high growth, and stable inflation economy we need.

Sky News @SkyNews

Inflation hits fresh 40-year high of 9.4% as cost of living crisis mounts

All your bills going up and up and up.

Taxes rising to the highest level in 70 years.

The worst economic crisis for a generation.

Not our words.

The words of those running to be the next Tory leader.

See what else they think of 12 years of Tory failure:

Boris Johnson just called a vote of confidence in himself. The Tories who said he was unfit last week say he’s fit to continue this week.

The Conservative Party is broken. Time for a fresh start.

Collective responsibility is the latest convention trashed by the Tories.

Leadership contenders are threatening the Belfast/Good Friday Agreement and don’t even have the decency to resign from govt first.

So appropriate that @BorisJohnson’s last @HouseofCommons speech starts with the Speaker interrupting to tell him he just misled the House.

He’s ending just as he started and acted every day in between - untruthfully.

Today I have written to the Chancellor to pose a number of key questions about his financial affairs. It is important that there is full clarity on these issues.

I asked the Government 7 times if Boris Johnson met with Alexander Lebedev. 4 times at the despatch box, I was fobbed off by;
- Home Secretary
- Security Minister x 2
- Minister for the Cabinet Office

Really enjoyed talking to ⁦@joshglancy⁩ about what drives me, and the ambition I have for this country.

Every single Tory leadership candidate has been part of a decade of failure, running public services down and overseeing soaring child poverty.

Now they’re focused on an arms race on tax cuts, not improving our public services.

The only choice for change is a Labour government.

🎥 As a former Bank of England economist, I know what it’ll take to get Britain back on track.

Labour are the only party that can build the stronger, more secure economy we need.

It was a pleasure meeting @OlafScholz today.

Labour has a plan to ensure Britain and Germany can work closely together to help boost economic growth, stimulate the green transition and continue to support Ukraine as we resist Russian aggression.

“All they do is break eggs, but you never get an omelette.”

⁦@MarinaHyde⁩ on blistering form 👇

@supertanskiii @JolyonMaugham @AndrewMarr9 @Keir_Starmer @LBC I was impressed by Peter Kyle yesterday in discussing the NI Protocol. Borrowed from the Daily Blase on you tube with thanks. There are a lot of able people on the Opposition benches.

Liz Truss’ plan would lower the pay of Northerners, worsening the divide that already exists.

It is economically damaging and morally wrong.

Labour will build the stronger, more secure and fairer economy that Britain needs.

Liz Truss would cost the taxpayer billions in unfunded promises, whilst cutting pay for working people.

A Labour government would immediately prioritise boosting economic growth and fixing the Tory cost of living crisis.

BP and Shell are reporting bumper profits while families struggle with rising energy bills.

What does former Shell employee Liz Truss want to do about it? Nothing.

It’s time we stopped handing back billions to oil and gas giants and used that money to help families instead.

More than 4 years since the Windrush scandal broke, it is truly shameful that just 7% of victims who were detained, deported and denied rights by their government have received compensation. This government is a moral vacuum that urgently needs to be replaced.

Disappointing (but not surprising) that both Tory candidates for PM have dismissed a common sense windfall tax. Profits are soaring, yet so many are struggling!!
