We are striking at the heart of Putin’s war machine.

Today we have announced our largest sanctions package on Russia since May 2023, targeting the supply of vital military equipment for Putin’s illegal war in Ukraine and disrupting the Kremlin's malign activity abroad.

Prime Minister @Keir_Starmer welcomed @KingAbdullahII of Jordan to Downing Street last night.

In their discussions, the leaders reiterated the importance of regional stability in the Middle East and the need for ceasefires in Lebanon and Gaza.

We're strengthening patient rights under the Mental Health Bill so people can get better mental health care.

Here’s what we're improving for patients, staff and the public ⬇️

Our Tobacco and Vapes Bill will protect the public, NHS and economy from the harms of smoking.

We plan to:

🚭 ban smoking outside schools, children’s playgrounds and hospitals

🧒 create a smoke-free generation

✖️ stop vapes being targeted at kids

https://www.gov.uk/government/news/smoking-ban-introduced-to-protect-children-and-most-vulnerable

Smoking is the number one preventable cause of death, disability and ill health in the UK.

That’s why we’re preventing young people from ever starting.

People-smuggling gangs profit from putting lives at risk.

It must stop.

We have announced new funding to dismantle the gangs. From state-of-the-art tech to boosting enforcement and intelligence capabilities, those who undermine our border security will face justice.

We have a mission: to get the NHS back on its feet and fit for the future.

Yesterday the Chancellor announced a record-breaking £22.6 billion increase in day-to-day spending for the NHS to free up staff time so they can focus on treating and caring for patients.

We know how challenging it has been for families and businesses in recent years due to the cost of living.

Here’s how today’s Budget will put more money in working people’s pockets 👇

We are providing a £22.6bn increase in the NHS budget over 2 years.

That is the largest real-terms growth in NHS spending outside of Covid years since 2010.

We’re backing working people.

From April 2025, the National Living Wage will rise to £12.21, a £1,400 boost a year for full-time eligible workers.

A Budget that fixes the foundations to deliver change by fixing the NHS and rebuilding Britain, while ensuring working people don’t face higher taxes in their payslips.

NEWS: Funding to kickstart delivery of two million extra NHS appointments.

The Chancellor has confirmed new funding to help deliver an extra 40,000 elective appointments per week.

Reducing waiting lists and building an NHS fit for the future.

Every child should have access to a high-quality education.

From 1 Jan 2025, VAT will apply to all education, training and boarding services provided by private schools.

This money will help us to invest more in state education, improving standards and opportunities for all.

We want to discourage non-smokers & young people from taking up vaping.

From 1 Oct 2026, we’re introducing a vaping duty for the first time at £2.20 per 10ml of liquid.

Plus a one-off tobacco duty rise to keep the incentive to choose refillable vaping over smoking.

Working people are the lifeblood of our economy.

That is why the government will not increase the basic, higher or additional rates of Income Tax, National Insurance, or VAT.

This is a budget to protect working people.

We want to give retired workers the long-term financial security they need.

That’s why in 2025-26 we’re increasing the State Pension by up to £470 in line with the Triple Lock.
