It was a pleasure for me and Councillor Colleen Atkins to visit Byron Court and Chaucer Court care homes today. Thank you to the residents for taking the time to speak to us, and to the staff who work so hard every day to support the residents.

After 12 years of Conservative mismanagement and incompetence, Britain is stuck facing huge backlogs.

You deserve better.

Labour will tackle the cost of living crisis and build the foundations for a thriving, dynamic economy.

It was great to watch Paul Hutchinson from the Bedford Independent giving evidence to evidence to the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport committee at the Cardiff University School of Journalism yesterday.

Not a single Tory MP voted against the Northern Ireland Protocol Bill at Second reading last night. Plenty of them criticised it in the strongest terms, not least the former PM, Theresa May, but not one had the courage of their convictions to vote against the legislation.

It was a pleasure to meet up with the students studying Politics A-level from Bedford School. They were here on a school trip to learn more about the seat of our democracy and we had some great discussions about politics and how our system works.

Photos from the opening of the exciting @infarm facility in Bedford - a brand new vertical farming site, surprisingly situated in our urban centre. It was incredibly fascinating to see Infarm’s sustainable methods of farming, and to sample some of their fresh produce.

I questioned the Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities on the Government's poor record on building genuinely affordable housing and social housing.

Today I attended the opening of an exciting new business in Bedford. Infarm is one of Europe’s largest urban vertical farming facilities. In Britain we are overly dependent on food imports. Infarm aims to grow food locally in a controlled environment.

Today @INFARM_Global launched one of the largest European urban farms in #Bedford, UK, spreading over 10,000 sqm. The opening ceremony included addresses from @Jochurchill_MP, @YasinForBedford, and Erez Galonska, CEO and co-founder of Infarm

It was a privilege to attend Bedford’s Armed Forces and Veterans Day parade - the first in-person event in years, with stalls and entertainment. There was a wonderful local turnout to pay tribute to the selfless commitment of our Forces, cadets, their families and veterans.

A busy day talking to lots of different people in the constituency; a surgery in Tesco, followed by door knocking in Kingsbrook, a wonderful choir performance at St Mark’s by Bedford U3A choir and another door knocking session in Queen’s Park.

The South Bedford Masjid are collecting donations after one of the worst floods in living memory in Bangladesh.

People have lost their livelihoods and homes.

If you are able to donate you can do so via the following link:

Many of you are very concerned – in fact disgusted about sewage overflows into our local rivers and waterways. In DEFRA Questions today, I asked the Government to be far more ambitious about their targets to clean up our waterways.

Ahead of the by-elections tomorrow in Wakefield and Tiverton, Keir Starmer did a good job in #PMQs today setting out Johnson’s woeful record in office.

Summed up as the crisis of Planes, Trains and Automobiles, the PM had no explanation as to why he has taken no action.

Today I spoke in Labour's Opposition Day debate on GP and dental appointment waiting times. The public are sick and tired of the broken system with patient satisfaction being at a record low.

You can read my speech here:

In my monthly column for our local independent news outlet, I pay tribute to our Armed Forces this Armed Services week - but as I argue in my piece, they need more than warm words.

Speaker of Bedford Borough Council Cllr Mohammed Nawaz and I attended the Armed Forces Day flag raising ceremony this morning.

I pay tribute to our armed service personnel both past and present for their incredible bravery in their duty to keep us safe every day.

On Saturday I had the pleasure of attending a book launch by local author Daniela Svampa Cowie for her book “A Reason to Love Them”.

There were a range of incredibly inspiring speakers with the theme of the night being that nothing is insurmountable.

Thank you to the East of England Ambulance Service Trust (EEAST) for showing me around their ambulance operations centre in Bedford.

I met with Tom Abell Chief Executive of the Trust to discuss the ongoing challenges the Trust faces.

850,000 people are missing out on £3,300 a year as £1.7bn of Pension Credit goes unclaimed.

Pension Credit is a top-up to retirement incomes, where you may be able to claim an average of £3,300 a year.

Lord Geidt says Boris Johnson put him in an “impossible and odious” position which forced him to quit as PM’s ethics advisor.

In a functioning democracy, this letter of resignation should mark the end for the worst PM we’ve ever had.

Yesterday I caught up with Breast Cancer Now about the importance of early diagnoses.

I also met Dr Rachel Ward from the Rebuild General Practice campaign. She She is exasperated that the Government has already dropped its commitment for 6,000 more GPs by 2024.

Many of you have written to me about unacceptable delays in applying for passports. I know some are waiting 13 weeks and beyond. It’s a lottery. So, I raised your concerns in a debate led by Labour in Parliament yesterday.

Thank you @YasinForBedford for talking to @DrRachelWardGP about the ongoing crisis in primary care. We need as many MPs onboard as possible to help us #RebuildGP 💪 @bedshertslmcs #RGPatParliament

I'm getting a steady stream of correspondence about the difficulties people are experiencing in trying to get an NHS dental appointment.

Delays in check-ups and treatment are very worrying as early -pick up on health conditions such as mouth cancer and diabetes will be missed.

In the Levelling Up, Communities and Housing Committee yesterday we questioned the Secretary of State, Michael Gove on the Government's Levelling Up and Regeneration Bill as well as Stuart Andrew on housing plans. Please see my questions below. (1/2)

As we remember the 40th anniversary of the Falklands War, we also make a commitment to the future.

Labour will remain steadfast in defending the UK’s sovereignty of the Falklands and in protecting the Islanders in line with the principles of self-determination.

5 years ago, we woke to the truly horrific footage of Grenfell Tower ablaze. To date no one has been held responsible for the failures which led to the fire.

Today we remember the victims, the survivors and bereaved families. (1/2)

This afternoon Councillor Colleen Atkins and I met with SMART to discuss their excellent work to provide accommodation and support to people who would otherwise be rough sleeping.

We discussed a range of challenges facing people and the support that can be put in place to help.

I’m delighted to be supporting this year’s @greatgettogether, celebrating welcoming communities and Jo Cox’s #MoreInCommon message.

Under the Tories the UK’s economic growth will grind to a halt next year.

Labour will get our economy growing again.

Our Climate Investment Pledge will create new jobs for the future – for builders, pipefitters and engineers – as we insulate 19 million homes across our country.

A busy day out in my constituency, first talking to several stall holders at the Bedford Flea, Affordable Art, and Local Produce Market where there were so many great local products available. (1/3)

A busy day starting with two drop in surgeries. First with Councillors Abu Sultan and Fouzia Zamir Atiq in Morrisons and then in the Riverfield Drive Tesco. Thank you to everyone that stopped by and raised cases which my office and I will take up. (1/2)

This morning I met with FACES to discuss their excellent charity work to support families, and the challenges people are facing with the cost of living crisis.

Thank you to Amy for taking the time to speak with me and share FACES perspective and experiences on several issues.

In Parliament this week, I pledged to make unpaid carers Visible, Valued and Supported during an event to recognise the 10.5 million unpaid carers during Carers Week. You may be able to read my write up on this in the July edition of ‘BedsLife.’

Thank you my good friend @DrRosena for attending the Bedford and Kempston Labour fundraiser last night. Rosena and I both spoke on the importance of mental health and our campaign to bring mental health beds back to Bedford.

Thank you to @YasinForBedford and the wider @BedfordLabour family for such a warm welcome this evening.

People like you are the beating heart of our party and I have loved spending time with you all.

Labour won its Motion this week to clean up standards in Parliament.

Another policy win from your Government in waiting.

Yesterday I heard from Jane, from the Bedford District Cerebral Palsy Society. She wanted to share a very short film that they made to show how the young people at BDCPS celebrated and were included in the Jubilee.

You can see the video here:

Five years ago today in the 2017 General Election, the people of Bedford and Kempston voted for me to become your Member of Parliament for the first time. It is an immense privilege to be your MP. Thank you and I will continue to serve you to the best of my ability.

Boris Johnson was very rattled in today’s #PMQs. I don't think he was expecting Keir to use all his 6 questions on the state of the NHS.

The PM obviously didn’t have a clue how to answer, as his colleagues were whispering to him and passing notes.

Dentistry is in crisis and patients, including children are not getting the care they need.

I wrote to Minister Maria Caulfield. This is her response, which does not address the issues I raised and pretty much says, try an appointment somewhere else in the country.

The money saving expert, Martin Lewis is for the first time in months advising now might be the time to fix your energy payments.

Not one single Conservative MP voted with Labour to implement the Committee on Standards in Public Life's proposals in full. They are all complicit in Boris Johnson's lies and corruption.

We need a Labour Government to clean up our politics and restore faith in our democracy.

Boris Johnson and his Tory Party take the British public for fools.

Only Labour will put the public first, tackle the cost of living crisis and restore your trust in politics.

Under the Tories, NHS waiting lists are at record breaking levels and government infighting is delaying care even further.

Patients deserve better.

The choice is clearer than ever before:

Divided Tories propping up Boris Johnson with no plan to tackle the issues you are facing.

Or a united Labour Party with a plan to fix the cost of living crisis and restore trust in politics.

Labour will get Britain back on track.

Thank you to the 148 Conservative MPs that put the country above their Party. The Prime Minister has lost the trust of the public and a significant portion of his MPs. He must go so that we can restore basic standards to our politics. #NoConfidenceVote
