Sad and disappointed to see the news coming out of America on their Supreme Court's decision.

Safe and accessible abortion is a right and women will be directly hurt by this callous decision.

Solidarity to all those who will be fighting for it in the coming months and years.

Tomorrow in #Newport!

Tickets are still available for the 'Music for a Summer Evening' concert hosted by the Newport Philharmonic Choir! 🎶

This week I'm proud to be supporting #CervicalScreeningAwarenessWeek!

Newly elected Labour MP Simon Lightwood called the prime minister's approach to government 'unacceptable'.

It was great to meet with @welshrefcouncil this morning to discuss the Nationality & Borders Act and how it's impacting their work.

The Welsh Refugee Council do incredible work supporting asylum seekers & refugees, they're an asset to our city and to 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 as a whole.

Huge congratulations to @SimonLightwood - Labour’s new MP for Wakefield!

A historic victory — this city deserved a fresh start, and you delivered it.

Wakefield is the birthplace of the next Labour government.

All the best to Wakefield's next @UKLabour MP @simonlightwood today, he's had a fantastic reception on the doorstep and today's Dialogue session in Newport was really positive too! #VoteLabour 🌹

Wales has a different approach when it comes to industrial relations.

Our social partnership model brings people around the table to discuss rather than argue. It finds solutions rather than creating division.

#RailStrikes

It's just under a week now until we start our cable inspection works on the M48 Severn Bridge. From next Wednesday 22 June, lane one will be closed heading westbound so we can safely start preparing for the inspections. The Windrush generation helped build Britain.

But the Tories' hostile environment left many homeless, jobless and without healthcare. Victims are still waiting for the justice and compensation they deserve.

Windrush descendent @DavidLammy tells their story. #WindrushDay

Because our Welsh Labour Government reached a deal with rail workers, unions, and operators, Transport for Wales staff aren’t striking today.

But our rail network is still in a state of chaos, because Boris Johnson and Grant Shapps refuse to come to the table and do the same.

Wales🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 is proud to be a Nation of Sanctuary, and Newport is equally proud that refugees from right across the world now call our city home.

#WorldRefugeeDay

⚠️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿TfW staff are not on strike, but the ongoing dispute will severely impact TfW trains, including services to and from Newport.

🚨 Services will be severely disrupted on:

Today I'll be speaking in the debate on the role political parties can play in fostering diversity and inclusion.

No survivor of sexual assault should ever have to choose between professional emotional support and justice.

"...the Bill as it stands does not specify which adverse impacts on animals would be grounds for a GEO application’s being denied"

Thank you to @RuthNewportWest for highlighting areas where the Genetic Technology Bill currently falls short regarding animal welfare.

Today is #CleanAirDay

Poor air quality can impact every organ in the human body.

That's why we need to be doing more to reduce air pollution and why the next UK Labour Government will introduce a Clean Air Act to improve our air quality🌍🪴

In Labour-run Wales, train staff aren't on strike.

All sides working together to find a deal.

Meanwhile, in England rather than sorting out this strike, the @Conservatives are sending petitions to the opposition🤷‍♀️

Train staff in Wales aren’t on strike. That’s because we work in social partnership.

The Tories are picking fights to distract from their lies and the recession they’re causing.

Don’t fall for it

Our @WelshLabour Government means that Transport for Wales staff won't be striking.

The Tories need to do their job to avoid national rail strikes.🚆

The passport application backlog was caused by Ministers, not staff in the Newport Passport Office.

Five years on from the Grenfell tower fire we remember the 72 people killed.

The Grenfell community are courageous in their pursuit of justice and change. We stand with them.

To honour the memories of those lost we must prevent such a tragedy happening again.

I've just finished speaking in the debate on transgender conversion therapy in Westminster Hall.

I completely and utterly refute any argument that conversion therapy works, is fair, decent or right.

Text of my speech is below, as the sound cut out while I was speaking👇

In Defence Questions I paid tribute to veterans of the Falklands conflict for their immense sacrifice.

I then asked the Minister to meet with me to discuss how the cost-of-living crisis is impacting veterans in Newport West, the answer I received wasn't up to scratch👇

The Queen's record of public service and decades of work for the people of the UK are a model for us all to aspire to, and it stands in stark contrast to Boris Johnson's conduct.

Under Boris Johnson things are getting worse not better:

Fewer GPs.

Longer waits for cancer care.

Buildings still crumbling.

Britain deserves better.

Happy #WorldOceansDay! 🐟

Did you know we're the first in the UK to rollout a fishing gear recycling scheme?! 🙌

This will tackle marine litter and give new life to old fishing nets by turning them into kayaks, bodyboards or street furniture.

Welcome support for #KeptAnimalsBill and #AnimalsAbroadBill from @RuthNewportWest and @LabourDefra’s commitment to support passage of legislation to ban hunting trophy imports and much more. “Now is the time to do it!” concludes Ruth 🙌
