I’ll be honest, it’s been a while since I needed to prove my age for a drink.

But for millions of young people across the UK, this change brings an easy, secure option for proving your ID.

Through digital technology like this we can make life easier and safer for everyone.

Since the general election, we’ve hit the ground running on the NHS: ending doctors’ strikes, starting to cut waiting lists, investing in GPs, hospices…

A lot done, a hell of a lot more to do. But as I look to 2025, I can see the road to recovery.

Tech Secretary Peter Kyle: "Paper based IDs just aren't really fit for the modern age. People leave them at home. They're tatty. They're not actually accurate"

Story:

We promised reform, to bring back the family doctor and to invest more in primary care.

Today we’re announcing the biggest boost to GP funding for years - an extra £889 million! This, combined with reform, will deliver a better experience for patients and relief for GPs.

🍻 APPY HOUR 🍻

Drinkers will be able to buy booze with digital ID next year to spare the faff of taking physical documents on a night out

Today @SciTechgovuk and @DCMS have begun consulting on a AI and copyright package we believe balances strong protections for creators while removing barriers to AI innovation.

We want to hear from a wide range of voices.

Peter Kyle: “Not only are we going to lift the block, we will be an assertive partner on your behalf to try and get these things done, because we have just won an election and this was in our manifesto.”
