The brilliant Abena Oppong Asare ⁦@abenaopp⁩ speaking last night at Labour’s business reception for ethnic minority owned businesses. Inspiring stories of start ups, enterprise, success and growth.

Britain’s backlog is a result of a decade of Tory mismanagement and sheer incompetence.

Britain deserves better.

The Tories must get a grip now, stop with their sticking plaster approach and sort out the bottlenecks and delays they’ve caused.

We knew the Tories were high tax low growth. They are also high tax low delivery. From today’s debate on Backlog Britain.

The Chancellor has completely failed to answer @patmcfaddenmp's question at Treasury Questions.

Why is the UK predicted to have lower growth than any country in the G20 other than Russia?

The Conservatives' economic model of low growth and high taxes isn't working.

“When faced with a transition we should see it as an investment in the future. A transition where everyone can take part & everyone can afford it. That won’t happen without an active govt role enabling consumers to take part”

@patmcfaddenmp, Shadow Chief Sec. to the Treasury

The Tories now face a credible Labour party: a government-in-waiting with a plan to deliver on the country’s demands.

We will not shy away from that responsibility, duck those challenges or fail to grasp the opportunities our country has.

This weekend across the country, we'll celebrate Jo Cox’s #MoreInCommon mission with the #GreatGetTogether.

We'll celebrate community events that bridge divides and champion what unites us, bringing us together.

Britain’s armed forces are the best in the world — today, on #ArmedForcesDay, we thank both those serving and our veterans for their service.

The PM just admitted on @BBCr4today that the economy “has not grown as it should.”
Lack of growth has hit wages, tax revenues and national prosperity.
I’d like to thank him for confirming what Labour has been saying is true.

Today on #ArmedForcesDay, we celebrate the special service our UK Forces personnel, veterans, and their families give to our country.

From helping Britain through Covid to keeping us safe and protecting our NATO allies, Labour is deeply proud of you. Thank you.

A wonderful morning at today’s Great Get Together in Bilston Town Hall. Thank you to everyone who entered our Bilston Bake Off. Congratulations to the winners from ⁦@moseleypark_⁩ school. ⁦@WolvesMayor⁩ ⁦@DickyDodd⁩ ⁦@JoCoxFoundation⁩ #moreincommon

How does that vote of confidence in Boris Johnson from Tory MPs feel now?

If you live in Wakefield, today is your chance to send a message to the Tories the can’t ignore:

Vote for @SimonLightwood.

Vote for a fresh start.

After four years I stood down tonight as Chair of the APPG for Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia.
Thank you so much to ⁦@SickleCellUK⁩ and everyone I have worked with in this role. And congratulations and best wishes to ⁦@JanetDaby⁩ who will be a brilliant successor.

Always good to be with the wonderful ⁦@kimleadbeater⁩ Not too late to register for our Great Get Together this coming Friday in Bilston

Passports, driving licences, health waiting times, strikes. A government without grip. It doesn’t function. It only campaigns. From ⁦@SkyNews⁩ this morning.

'Backlogs - in driving licences, passports, GP appointments, airports, hospital waiting times. A government utterly without grip.... Actually we don't have a functioning government right now.'

~ @patmcfaddenmp this morning

Today is World Sickle Cell Day. At the APPG for Sickle Cell and Thallasaemia we renew our vow to campaign for more understanding, better treatment and more research into this condition. ⁦@SickleCellUK⁩ #worldsicklecellday

Huge waits for passports and driving licences.

Huge queues at airports.

Huge waiting lists for healthcare and court dates.

Welcome to Boris Johnson’s Backlog Britain.

“Underneath the hot sun…” Thank you to everyone who came to yesterday’s Big Lunch at St Martin’s Church in Bradley, Bilston yesterday. Great community organisations making our area a better place. Factor 50 and hat needed! ⁦@StMartinBradley⁩ ⁦@WolvesMayor⁩

Congratulations to England women’s football team on a well deserved 3-0 win over Belgium at the Molineux last night. A beautiful night to watch a good game.

I know the challenges we face can be overcome if government works hand in hand with business.

It’s a partnership that can be the route out of the low growth we’re facing, towards a dynamic economy where opportunity is shared.

My @thetimes piece today.

Great response on the doors in Wakefield for the brilliant @simonlightwood. Lots of people coming back to @UKLabour and wanting to send the Tories a message. And lovely to catch up with 🌹 friends from around the country!

A hot day and a warm reception from voters today on the Wakefield doorstep campaigning for Labour’s ⁦@simonlightwood⁩. Great to catch up with the brilliant ⁦@annaturley⁩ and all the Labour team out campaigning. 🌹

Six years ago our colleague and friend, Jo Cox, was murdered.

In Jo’s memory we continue to look ahead with a belief that the world she believed in so passionately remains within our grasp.

“We are far more united and have far more in common than that which divides us.”

Six years ago today the person we loved most in the world was taken from us. Our family’s wish is that on this day we remember what we have in common, even with those we might disagree with. And to emphasise what connects us rather than what divides us. #MoreInCommon

Who’s going to want to be Boris Johnson’s “ethics” advisor now? Who would put themselves in that position?

5 years today! 💚💚💚
They will be forever in our hearts. May they continue to rest in perfect peace..
Ameen 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿

Five years on from the Grenfell tower fire we remember the 72 people killed.

The Grenfell community are courageous in their pursuit of justice and change. We stand with them.

To honour the memories of those lost we must prevent such a tragedy happening again.

Hearing that this Tory work of fiction might not even have been written in Conservative Central Office but in the Treasury. Was any civil service time or cost spent on it? And wouldn’t Ministers be better focussed on dealing with cost of living crisis?

Britain is going backward under the Conservatives businesses and people don’t have the partner they need in this government says @patmcfaddenmp

We were delighted to have welcomed the Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer @RachelReevesMP and MP for Wolverhampton South East @patmcfaddenmp

A great thank you to the local business people that attended the meeting

A brilliant day in Wolverhampton yesterday with @patmcfaddenmp.

We toured the fantastic @MuellerEurope, had a very useful roundtable with local businesses and were lucky enough to be hosted by @lighthousemedia in the evening.

Really enjoyed speaking with @ExpressandStar yesterday during my trip to Wolverhampton with @patmcfaddenmp.

Wonderful to welcome ⁦@RachelReevesMP⁩ to Wolverhampton yesterday. Great message to Labour supporters last night on help with cost of living crisis and long term plan for stronger UK economy. Thank you also to ⁦@lighthousemedia⁩

It was absolutely fantastic meeting ⁦@RachelReevesMP⁩ and ⁦@patmcfaddenmp⁩ in Wolverhampton this evening. ⁦@UKLabour⁩'s treasury team are winning the battle of ideas to make Britain fairer and more prosperous.
