Interim payments are a vital first step for the 555.
I congratulate the Minister for bringing these payments forward.
The focus now shifts to a full compensation scheme being implemented quickly, and ensuring that those responsible for this scandal are brought to justice.
An important and welcome step taken by the Post Office Horizon Inquiry.
It is right that we get full disclosure of the facts, and justice for those who have been wronged.
Thank you to @StCuthsCLS for hosting me today in @UKParliament at the Parliamentary Education Centre.
Fantastic presentations followed by a series of very insightful questions in the Q&A.
Today, it is ten years since @CharlesWalkerMP and I both spoke publicly about our own mental health in the House of Commons.
Attitudes to mental health have progressed since and it’s good that there is more openness to talk then there was ten years ago.

Great to be at Sacriston for the PlatinumJubilee celebrations. Thanks to the volunteers for organising the event & @TNLUK for funding.
Yesterday I visited the Just for Women Centre Stanley who have been awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service. This is the highest award that a voluntary organisation can receive and is really well deserved given the fantastic level of support they provide. Well done

The Safe Hands scandal is a story of people doing the right thing, people doing the responsible thing, people not wanting to be a burden when they pass on.
It is right that regulations are coming in, but we must also have a day of reckoning for those involved in this scandal.
Yesterday, the Prime Minister said that the turnaround time for everyone's passport renewal is between 4-6 weeks.
I know this statement to be categorically untrue from the many enquiries received from constituents on this matter.
My letter to the Home Secretary 👇
Great to attend Saturday's performance by Houghton Brass at the Salvation Army, Chester-Le-Street raising money for St Cuthbert's Hospice.
Councillor Tracie Smith and I were pleased to present a cheque of over £2,000 to St Cuthbert's Hospice towards their vital work in our area.
North Durham Afternoon.
Both Estonians and Latvians see themselves as being on the frontline following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Neither of these countries want to be liberated.
We must re-examine whether the current tripwire posture adopted by NATO is still our best method of deterrence.
End of a beautiful North Durham Day.
Victims of Post Office scandal were forced to pay out, inquiry hears https://mol.im/a/10806251 via @MailOnline There are many cases like this but the Post Office have never explained what happened to the money despite being asked.
Great to visit to @eFPBGLatvia with @natopapress . Pleased to meet personnel from 9 NATO nations. @AlecShelbrooke @Stuart4WolvesSW
The MOD suggesting that the Public Accounts Committee does not understand 'basic procurement principles' is absurd.
PAC is far from the only body concerned with the MOD's record of four years of unaffordable Equipment Plans.
A terrible response to an excellent report.
The report suggests a lack of understanding of basic procurement principles and doesn’t acknowledge that MOD are avoiding short terms cost cutting measures by enacting long term changes. The report also fails to take into account the latest data and uses outdated examples. (4/4)
Interesting discussion @natopapress in Riga with Artis Pabriks Latvian Deputy Prime Minister & Defence Minister.@Stuart4WolvesSW @AlecShelbrooke
A beautiful North Durham Afternoon.
End of a beautiful North Durham Day
Great to meet with my old friend Vera Brydon whilst out campaigning in Sunderland. Still going strong after 73 years as a Labour Party member
Thank you to @MaritimeUK for the discussion on the National Shipbuilding Strategy Refresh. Excellent to hear the views from industry and parliamentarians on the future of UK shipbuilding.

An excellent programme last night from @BBCPanorama showing the long-term, devastating impact of this scandal.
We must have full compensation for all subpostmasters involved.
We must also have those from Post Office held accountable for their actions.
Postmaster's widow signed gag order as bosses accused of cover up https://mol.im/a/10749177 via @MailOnline the tragic human cost of the Horizon Scandal. Individuals need to be held to account for the decisions they made.

Interesting visit to Kromek, a County Durham firm at the cutting edge of technology
Last night there was another fire at the old Greenland School site - today I attended a site visit organised by County Councillors Cllr Carole Hampson and Cllr Sam McMahon to press for urgent action. The community have lived with this blight for too long.

There's still time to have your say on the North East Rail and Metro Strategy before the consultation closes on the 11th April.
Please read the strategy and fill in the online survey at https://www.transportnortheast.gov.uk/railandmetro/
The MOD need to explain this headline further given work to dispose of these legacy vehicles started back in 2017.
In what volume are these vehicles being sent?
Big questions remain too on their condition, state of readiness, and access to spare parts.
The @RHANews #NationalCoachWeek Roadshow is at @Beamish_Museum today. Really pleased to see businesses from across the country taking part as well as local businesses such as @stanley_travel
