Hi @AngelaRayner @jreynoldsMP . Can you please help to spread the word for an event I am doing ? I am trying to raise funds for @TheChristie by taking part in The Manchester to Blackpool ride with my surgeon

NEW: We’re now seeing the longest decline of UK incomes ever.

It’s sapping household spending and leaving us exposed.

The Tories are failing working people.

All they offer are stagnant wages, low growth and higher taxes.

We need a stronger economy.

What a wonderful evening meeting Black, Asian and ethnic minority businesses at our @UKLabour reception tonight.

Inspiring entrepreneurs, brilliant businesses and industry leaders like these are shaping the future of the landscape with their formidable talent.

Dominic Raab won’t approve but I did indeed go the opera last week (it cost me £62).

Tom Eisner, a working-class lad from Buxton near where I grew up kindly invited me. He’s been playing violin at Glyndebourne for 36 years.

Never let anyone tell you you’re not good enough. 🎻

NEW: Rayner responds to Raab's jibe at her for going to the opera

"My advice to the deputy prime minister is to cut out the snobbery & brush up on his opera. The Marriage of Figaro is the story of a working-class woman who gets the better of a privileged but dim-witted villain."

The Conservatives have weakened the foundations of our Armed Forces since 2010:

❌40,000 troops cut
❌1/5 surface fleet taken out of service
❌200 planes axed in the past 5 years
❌Service satisfaction fall below 50%

Defence needs a reboot and we expect more from Ministers.

Wonderful to visit real living wage pub the Artichoke in Norwich.

With the cost of living crisis, a living wage makes a huge difference to people - but businesses like this are also struggling with rising costs.

Labour will build the stronger economy we need to tackle this.

The 2022 @theCCCuk progress report finds:

❌ Current government policies “will not deliver net zero”
❌ Only 8 of 50 key indicators on track, with 11 significantly off track
❌ No credible plans exist for 61% of required emissions cuts

The Conservatives are failing on climate.

Always a proud moment for a writer as the cover of my new book “Harold Wilson: The Winner” is unveiled.

Looking forward to release on 1 Sept.

Here’s me with @IainDale on Wilson’s amazing life-from a modest background to youngest Cabinet Minister & PM.

Deeply sad news.

Dame Deborah James’ charity work was truly inspirational — even in the most challenging moments, she continued to raise awareness about bowel cancer and impacted so many people’s lives.

Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this difficult time.

BBC News (UK) @BBCNews

Dame Deborah James dies aged 40

Rest in peace Deborah James. What an incredible, fierce, bright and brilliant woman. An absolutely extraordinary campaigner. Thank you for your rebellious hope and the millions you have inspired @bowelbabe Thinking of your many loved ones ♥️

Labour’s commitment to NATO is unshakable. As the Madrid Summit for NATO’s next Strategic Concept begins today, we need this 10 year plan to spell out how the Alliance will respond to increasing threats to our security – a thread 👇

Our country urgently needs a change in direction.

Great to sit down with @REWearmouth today to discuss Labour’s serious plan to turn it around.

Thriving industries. World class public services. Strong communities.

Labour will re-energise Britain.

"To support the battery production needed we are required to build 10 gigafactories. We could be creating 5,000 jobs a year in electric vehicle production alone, but at the moment we are only producing 1,000. We need more ambition from government"

7 July is National Manufacturing Day!

#UKmfg will be opening their doors to future makers to learn about the exciting opportunities available in our sector.

We’re encouraging schools and colleges to visit their local manufacturer and learn what we make!

"This lot can't even get a prawn sandwich over the Irish sea"

Shadow Northern Ireland Secretary Peter Kyle doesn't hold back on his criticism of the Government's upheaval of the Northern Ireland Protocol.

#KayBurley FC

Blistering stuff from Theresa May on the government's Northern Ireland Protocol Bill: "This bill is not legal in international law, it will not achieve its aims and it will diminish the standing of the United Kingdom in the eyes of the world, and I cannot support it."

Looking Back: Jubilee class locomotives Resolution (45708) and Aboukir (45681) either side of the main platform at Stalybridge Station in 1951.

It’s lovely to see so many people out for Stalybridge Carnival today. Get down to Cheetham Park for rides, food and stalls all day

Volunteers came together yesterday to help with final preparations in Stalybridge centre and Cheetham Park ahead of the first Carnival in three years

We collected litter, tidied up the tow paths and weeded plenty of areas along the way.

This Tuesday at #SMMTSummit our keynote speakers discussing the key industry issues will be:

@RishiSunak @hmtreasury
@ChrisGiles_ @fteconomics
Oriel Perry @Airbus
Daniel Donghui Li @GeelyGroup
Laurence Drake @DAFTrucksUK

Labour has now claimed the centre ground – and has shown it can win | Keir Starmer

The Tories now face a credible Labour party: a government-in-waiting with a plan to deliver on the country’s demands.

We will not shy away from that responsibility, duck those challenges or fail to grasp the opportunities our country has.

I love that the story of this failed treehouse is basically the same as that of Boris Island, the garden bridge, the bridge between Scotland and Northern Island and all other impractical and overpriced Boris infrastructure projects

🇬🇧 And a brilliant afternoon at Tameside’s @ArmedForcesDay event in Victoria Park. There’s lots of family fun throughout the day - a pleasant way to say thank you to our armed services and their families, past and present!

Thank you @TamesideCouncil for a great Armed Forces Day 2022 in Victoria Park today.

Particularly recommend the archery and axe throwing stalls

The PM just admitted on @BBCr4today that the economy “has not grown as it should.”
Lack of growth has hit wages, tax revenues and national prosperity.
I’d like to thank him for confirming what Labour has been saying is true.

Chris lost his nephew Jack, to drowning. He’s sharing his story to prevent others going through what him and his family have📽

“The water doesn’t care if you’re a strong swimmer or not, the water can be vicious, and it can change in an instant”

This is a devastating step backwards for women's rights in the United States.

Every woman who needs one should have the right to a safe and legal abortion.

Solidarity with every woman affected by this cruel decision.

It's Employee Ownership Day and I spent the morning with @djohnsonmsp visiting Jerba Campervans - a 100% employee-owned company.

They are highlighting the best of Scottish business. #EODay

People have the lowest consumer confidence in 50 years.

This is what happens when an out of touch Tory government increases taxes on working people, squeezes wages, and has no plan to get the economy back on track.

Huge congratulations to @SimonLightwood - Labour’s new MP for Wakefield!

A historic victory — this city deserved a fresh start, and you delivered it.

Wakefield is the birthplace of the next Labour government.

“Wakefield has voted Labour because we have the solutions for the challenges facing the British people. The Labour Party is back on the side of working people, winning seats where we lost before, and ready for government.”
