The election next year is a straight choice.

A third decide of the SNP with John Swinney.

Or a new direction for Scotland with Scottish Labour.

We're proud to launch the @TheHouseMag Lord Cormack Fellowship, a month-long paid placement honouring one of its founders. Open to all 18+ it offers hands-on experience in #political #journalism, policy, & Westminster life, (accommodation provided) >

Thank you to the people of Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse for electing a local champion and leading the way in delivering a new direction for Scotland.

The road to removing the SNP in 2026 has begun.

A massive congratulations to our newest MSP, Davy Russell!

The road to a new direction for Scotland in 2026 with Anas Sarwar as First Minister begins here.

What an outstanding Labour gain in Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse.

Well done @DavyRussell4HLS

A decent local man.

He’ll make a great local MSP

Chuffed to bits for him and the wonderful @ScottishLabour team

What a campaign!

Thank you to everyone who has supported the campaign to put our community first.

From campaigners and volunteers to the people of Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse - your support has been amazing. Thank you.

It was an honour to vote in the village I grew up in this morning.

Polls are open for the Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse by-election, so make your plan to vote and let’s put this community first!

Farage is a charlatan and has admitted Reform can’t win.

The choice tomorrow is either continued decline under the SNP - or change with the local champion @DavyRussell4HLS.

The SNP candidate tomorrow is a councillor from Cambuslang who lost an election in Rutherglen, sought selection in Shettleson and voted against £8m for Hamilton Town Centre

Only local champion @DavyRussell4HLS will stand up for communities of Hamilton,Larkhall and Stonehouse

This morning I had to correct the record in the house for previously using an inaccurate figure. See my update below 👇

"The town centre is dying", says Linda. "We need to regenerate Hamilton…..."

The SNP candidate voted against £8m to regenerate Hamilton town centre.

@DavyRussell4HLS cares about his home town of 46 years & is the only one who can beat the SNP.

Scotland is at the heart of the UK’s defence and security.

The Secretary of State for Scotland @IanMurrayMP was in Glasgow as the Prime Minister launched the Strategic Defence Review, which sets a clear path for the next decade to make the UK secure at home and strong abroad.

Good meeting with Secretary of State for Scotland @IanMurrayMP to discuss the economic opportunities for our companies in Spain and Scotland, with a focus on renewable energy and infrastructure. Economy and mobility are key to bringing Spain and Scotland even closer together.

Thank you to @business Bloomberg for hosting a roundtable in Edinburgh - with Labour, the UK is open for business and we are getting the economy moving to create the long-term growth the country needs.

Scotland Act Orders are important - they make devolution work effectively by amending legislation. The latest example of working with the Scottish Government relates to miners' strikes in the 1980s.

The Secretary of State @ianmurraymp formally signed the Order earlier today.

Our initial reaction to the Scottish Budget: a statement with an eye on the election, but announcements without costs attached and no accounting for the increase in NICs are risky - and make us wonder if any lessons on financial planning have been learned

Today’s budget was an opportunity to set a new direction for our country.

Instead, it failed to rise to the challenges we face.

At a time when one in six Scots are on an NHS waiting list, they deserve better than a promise to bring down waits to a year.

This is not a budget…

For far too long miners across the UK did not get the pension they deserved.

Today we put that right.

Nearly 8,000 former miners in Scotland will receive the first payment today.

An absolute disgrace. The Lib Dems and their candidate must have known when voters were going to the polls that she would not take up her seat. Their "local" candidate has misled the public in the Colinto/Fairmilehead ward and the Lib Dems should be completely shamed.

A @UKGovScotland clean sweep at @heraldscotland politician of the year awards last night. Really humbled to win and over the moon for @kirstyjmcneill.
The real heroes though are our constituency, parliamentary &. Scotland office teams. They work so hard. Thanks for all you do.

Absolutely wonderful news. She’s been a superb Minister in the Scotland Office despite just being elected as the MP for Midlothian.
Couldn’t be prouder.
Well done @kirstyjmcneill
Very very proud of you.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I recall a story of campaigning with John Prescott in the Inch in my constituency. As we walked along Glenallan Dr we came across a 50th party in a garden. John just walked in and held court at the party. He was loved. Also a pic at our CLP Burns supper.
😢

Every single minute spent with John Prescott was a shear joy. We campaigned together regularly in Edinburgh with The Prescott Express. A giant of politics, a pivotal figure in the Labour movement and an all together brilliant man.
