FOR ALL unable to attend all local or major vigils for #zaraaleena this weekend, including this one led by her loved ones, please keep watch at 6pm tonight for a special request...

Redthread's Young Women's Service were excited to join @Agenda_alliance & @the_AYJ Young Women's Justice Project report launch & discuss the issues it highlights for young women in the criminal justice system.

Thank you to @FloEshalomi for hosting! 🤩

No child should be going to school hungry, but the cost of living crisis is pushing Vauxhall families to the brink.

You can see my question to the Government below on this:

WOW - a double whammy of great news today!

The Night Tube on the Northern Line will return from this Saturday night!

The promised doubling of frequency on the Extension starts too! Trains from Nine Elms will now be every 5 minutes at peak times, and every 6 off peak!

Dominic Raab won’t approve but I did indeed go the opera last week (it cost me £62).

Tom Eisner, a working-class lad from Buxton near where I grew up kindly invited me. He’s been playing violin at Glyndebourne for 36 years.

Never let anyone tell you you’re not good enough. 🎻

As a lifelong Brixton resident I know that rapid change is needed in the Metropolitan Police.

Policing must be by consent and the Government must work with the Mayor of London to implement urgent reforms.

You can see my question below:

Nothing shows the hollowness of the Government's commitment to LGBT rights than deporting a gay man to Nigeria, where he could face imprisonment or (in some parts of the country) death, during pride month #StopTheFlights #StopThePlane

#PMQs @AngelaRayner was excellent.

Millions of people are being pushed into poverty, and the Tories have no answer. All they care about is holding onto power. We need a serious government – a Labour government with Angela as Deputy PM

@FloEshalomi intervenes pointing to a Guardian article concerning her constituent last week - https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2022/jun/22/windrush-one-in-four-applicants-received-compensation-home-office 6/

Thank you @FloEshalomi for organising yesterday’s event looking at young women’s experiences of the CJS

From rape to serious youth violence, the Gvt need to introduce urgent reforms to help young women

Without urgent action women & girls will remain locked in an abusive cycle

Unbelievable political attacks from the Minster for Policing in the chamber who seems to think that failings in the Met Police started when Sadiq Khan was elected Mayor. He can come & speak to residents in #Vauxhall & they can list the catalogue of failures over many years 🙄🙄

Great launch event for @Agenda_alliance @YouthJusticePk report #NotGivingUp on girls and young women in the criminal justice system hosted by @FloEshalomi - very proud to be trustee of Agenda. Fab work @IndyMCross & team.

Excellent meeting chaired by @FloEshalomi at launch of @Agenda_alliance Report “We’ve not given up” young women surviving the criminal justice system. We must do more @UKCommons

It was great to host the launch of the joint report ‘We’ve Not Given Up’ & meet some fab people who all share the aim of highlighting the needs of young women & girls caught up in the criminal justice system. Powerful testimonies from two young women @Agenda_alliance @the_AYJ

Homebound & beaming with pride that Razia (service user) was able to safely share her reality & experiences as a Muslim woman who came into contact with the CJS. Thank you @Agenda_alliance @the_AYJ @FloEshalomi for breaking barriers for women who are not necessarily always heard.

All party group urges government to boost London's "global city status": https://www.onlondon.co.uk/all-party-group-urges-government-to-boost-londons-global-city-status/ (and not to use #LevellingUp against us). @GarethBaconMP @londonchamber @FloEshalomi @RichardDABurge @HOLBID @CLF_news @AfricaHouseLDN @hmtreasury @lse_london @RupaHuq

Young people are suffering as a result of unacceptably long waiting times for mental health services.

The Government must act now to reduce waiting times, and you can see my question below:

At the London As A Global City APPG event where the packed panel is discussing the new report ‘Fostering London’s Global City Status’ - @LC_CEX @FloEshalomi @GarethBaconMP @paulscullymp @RichardDABurge & Prof Tony Travers

Good to be at the launch of the new report from APPG on London as a Global City.

@FloEshalomi emphasising both the role London can play in levelling up, and the need for levelling up in the capital too 🆙 https://www.londonchamber.co.uk/LCCI/media/media/APPG-London-as-a-Global-City.pdf

Always a blessing to join the congregation at @SJDKennington - really great to meet the new Deacon Annie Wanjohi and celebrate Windrush Sunday #Windrush2022

So great to join the community at the North Lambeth Parish fete - so many different stalls, food, drink, face painting and ice cream🍦. Thank you to all who worked to make it a success, to @lambethpalace for use of the beautiful garden & @DanielCobbLDN for sponsoring the event.

We began #RefugeeWeek2022 by announcing our plans to become a Borough of Sanctuary and celebrating the incredible work already happening in our communities to support refugees to make Lambeth their home.

Refugees will always be welcome in Lambeth #EveryoneWelcome

Good to join children from across different Lambeth schools to celebrate this wonderful Lusophone celebration - the poetry, music, dancing, food and much more is a reminder of the talent from our Portuguese speaking community. Obrigada to the host school @LBTS_SCHOOL 🙌🏾🙌🏾

Oval Labour @OvalLabour

Thanks to @FloEshalomi and @a_phil_1 for joining us at a Lusophone celebration with children and teachers from across Lambeth. Thanks to the @LSPLambeth for the invite and @LBTS_SCHOOL for hosting! #SomosLambeth

I'm proud that people across #Vauxhall have come forward to welcome Ukranian refugees. But every day I'm contacted by constituents reporting problems with the Homes for Ukraine scheme because of Home Office incompetence.

My speech in @TulipSiddiq 's important debate yesterday:

I just met with the Minister for Building Safety and Fire to follow up from my #PMQ about fire evacuation plans for disabled people.

Here's a thread on the meeting 🧵

Incredibly honoured and delighted to have been the official unveiling of the Windrush Monument this morning at Waterloo.

As a proud descendant this is a tribute to the “dreams and aspirations, courage and dignity, skills and talents” of the Windrush generation #WindrushDay2022

This #WindrushDay2022 we celebrate the Windrush Generation, who came from the Caribbean to help rebuild Britain after the Second World War, and their descendants who continue to make such an impact here in Vauxhall today! 🇯🇲 🇧🇧 🇹🇹 🇩🇲 🇬🇩 🇦🇬 🇧🇸 🇱🇨 🇰🇳 🇭🇹 🇲🇸 🇨🇼 🇹🇨 🇩🇴

Today as we celebrate the 74th anniversary of #WindrushDay with two major events in #Vauxhall let us remember the contributions from many who helped to rebuild Britain after the war. We share their fight for equality following the hostile environment and wait for compensation.

Setting up equipment at the @southbankcentre for the #WindrushDay2022 #WindrushDay performances. Check out our liveblog for more (or come down if you can!) https://www.voice-online.co.uk/news/liveblog/2022/06/22/l/

I’ve tabled an EDM celebrating 74 years since the Empire Windrush docked at Tillbury, recognising the Windrush Generation’s huge contribution, and calling for action to address the injustices suffered by them and their descendants #WindrushDay

1. I had my adjournment debate this evening on the Battersea funfair disaster and children’s mental health services including childhood trauma care.

As a society, we need to step up and be more ambitious in our call for better support for children’s mental health services.

Across the country communities will come together this weekend to support Jo Cox’s message that we all have #MoreInCommon

I’m happy to support this years @great_together . Click on this link to find an event near you http://greatgettogether.org/2022

Thank you to everyone who attended and asked useful questions. Thanks also to our co-chairs @BobBlackman and @FloEshalomi, and to our expert panel: Malavika Vartak from @amnesty and Jess Eagleton of @RefugeCharity, @HelenBerresford from @Nacro, Henry, Robin and Amanda.
