This is an historic injustice doe to the Chagos Islanders and there is much more to be done to correct it. But this is an overdue first step.
The officer who shot Chris Kaba was 'angry and frustrated', court told. and marksman 'exaggerate his attempts to flee.'
Very sad news about Herman Ouseley - a pioneer at the top levels of local government RIP
It is not an incursion. It is an invasion of a sovereign country. Made possible by the US, which just wrings its hands at every outrage, then ships more weaponry.
When is an invasion not an invasion? When the IDF is doing a “limited, localised and targeted ground operation against Hezbollah” #LebanonUnderAttack
Rock bottom racism from Robert Jenrick
Jenrick copying Trump’s anti-migrant rhetoric. Next he will be claiming that Muslims eat family pets
Ashworth has so little tactical sense that he did not realise he was crashing to defeat in his own constituency. The answer to the problems at number 10?
Bringing Jamaican teachers to the UK but underpaying them, mirrors the Windrush years when Jamaican nurses were exploited in exactly the same way.
Interviewing me on @TheNewsAgents Emily Maitlis claimed that @jeremycorbyn was too close to Putin
But there were British politicians who were much closer to Putin than Jeremy
@maitlis
It is widely believed Netanyahu wants war at all costs, in order to cling to office.
But the US is not paralysed. There are many things it could do to bring about peace. It chooses not to.
Time to renationalise Thames Water - without compensation @FT
Wes Streeting: “to share data, partner with innovators, and adopt new technologies at scale.”
But all of this means working with the private sector and draining money from our NHS
🚨 NEW: Keir Starmer reportedly used Lord Alli’s penthouse for his 2021 Christmas message despite work from home regulations

Reeves' cruel #WinterFuelPayment cut must be stopped - @UniteSharon outlines why, saying people expect better 📣
“We are the sixth richest economy in the world. We have the money. Britain needs investment, not austerity mark two.”
Read & watch in full 👇
It is still not too late to ditch the Winter Fuel Payment cut
The average person on benefits does not have any money in their bank account. It goes straight in and straight out
Streeting claims people giving big money to political parties are the same as people who donate to animal charities. Nonsense. People give money to political parties to buy politicians.
I hope that, even at this late stage, the leadership listens to ordinary Labour Party members.
Good grief! That splashing sound you hear is of yet another rat leaving the sinking ship @michaelgove
Just heard @Keir_Starmer on @BBCr4today claiming that the decision about whether to let @HackneyAbbott back into @UKLabour has “nothing to with him” It has EVERYTHING to do with him
Restore the Whip to Diane Abbott!
#DianeAbbott is Britain’s longest serving Black MP. She has a record of service to the people of Hackney going back decades. I was able to witness this first hand during my 2 decades at Hackney Council & was often called to account by her if her
A few days ago I wrote that Sunak was calling a general election on security, how false that is and how to respond to it.
Sometimes history happens fast.
Our universities are under threat, as well as all the jobs, businesses and communities that rely on them.
It was a stupid idea to curb student visas and it is welcome that the government has been forced to U-turn.
Sunak U-turns on student visa plans
People like John Woodcock want to close down protest simply because he doesn't agree with it. The right to protest is a fundamental one, and must be defended.
Excellent work by @libertyhq. Our rights are under threat and we need to defend them vigorously.
US and Israel can get bombs to work, sometimes even precision bombs to work, but the cannot do the same for a harbour pier?
Hard to avoid the conclusion that the whole thing is a distraction.
This will be welcomed by any reasonable person.
BBC reports that today's CPI data is causing rumours of an early election.
But prices are not falling, just rising more slowly than previously.
The government really is desperate if this is the best news they expect before the election must be called.
Tories complain about how much it costs to police peace marches. Meanwhile the US Embassy owes TFL £14,645,025 in unpaid congestion charges
We should start by scrapping the 2-child benefit cap, which is easily affordable.
The funding model does not work. And scrapping student visas could be the final straw for some of our universities, which would be disastrous.
The hostile environment has not gone away.
Wes Streeting still going on about using “spare capacity” in private health to cut NHS waiting lists. Instead of boosting profits in the private sector, why doesn’t Wes just pay NHS doctors and nurses properly?
Basically @wesstreeting is saying that the waiting lists are essentially because NHS workers aren't working out of hours.
How dare he.
👉 Restore NHS pay
👉 End outsourcing
👉 Pay off PFI debts
👉 Fund the NHS properly
If you won't do the above, hands off our NHS.
#bbclaurak
.@wesstreeting says he will pay staff to work weekends.
We are already do Wes. We always have. We don't have enough staff or money.
Stop blaming clinicians and commit to funding the NHS properly
We don't need more Tory rhetoric. The NHS is already on its knees.
#bbclaurak
Wes Streeting genuinely has no clue about how the NHS operates.
I have worked in the NHS for over 10 years, and I have spent the bulk of that time working on a Sunday. Just like I am today!
Streeting seems to think immigrants are “overburdening”the NHS. But without immigrants - including my mother’s generation of nurses from the Caribbean - there would be no NHS.
