Today, I presented my Non-disclosure Agreements Bill in Parliament.

My Bill would regulate the use of NDAs and gagging clauses in cases of sexual harassment, misconduct, and bullying so they can only be used where it is the express wish and preference of a survivor.

Shelagh Fogarty speaks to Lib Dem MP @LaylaMoran on her Bill which would limit the use of NDAs by universities to silence survivors of sexual violence.

Today at #PMQs, I raised the ongoing scandal of non-disclosure agreements and gagging clauses which silence survivors of sexual violence at University.

I hope the Government will back my Bill, which would limit the use of NDAs, and end this shameful practice.

"No victim of sexual assault or harassment should be coerced into silence by the very institutions who are meant to protect them. Not at university, not at work, not anywhere."

Oxford Lib Dem MP @LaylaMoran has criticised a decision to reopen a closed immigration centre in Kidlington. The Home Office has announced the Campsfield site will be redeveloped to create a 400 bed immigration removal centre for men. The MP had fought to close it. #HeartNews

Oxford City’s misguided planning policies that prioritise jobs over housing mean young people frequently have to move away to afford to rent let alone buy. The drop in those in their 20s linked to the drop in babies perhaps?

Duncan Stott 🏗️🏘️ @DuncanStott

Oxford, where have our babies gone? 23% fall in under 5's (compared to a 7% in England).

A pleasure to meet with Anne-Marie and @anyoneschild outside Parliament today. Lessons must be learned from Martha's tragic death, and we cannot lose anymore of Oxford's young people in this preventable manner.

📺 Make sure you tune in to @Channel4 at 7.55pm this evening to see @LibDems Political Slot, where I visited Wolvercote Mill Stream in my constituency to talk about the impacts of raw sewage being discharged into our rivers.

“While we welcome that the Inquiry and the PM have accepted important recommendations made by our APPG, such as using international comparisons & including Long Covid, the omission of one element risks damaging public trust in the process." @LaylaMoran 1/

My constituents and people across the country are in a cost of living crisis.

How does the Govt respond? Reneging on an international agreement that risks plunging us into a trade war with our biggest partner to try saving their own skin.

The NI Protocol Bill is disgraceful.

🚨 Breaking 🚨 I’ve been informed that the Government plans to REOPEN Campsfield Detention Centre in Kidlington. This is a disgraceful decision by the Home Office and I will fight it every step of the way. Please sign this and RT!

This is a lie.

81.5% voted for this action.

There is no “15% pay rise” on offer.

There is no “£7,000 more a year”.

Junior criminal barristers will remain on less than minimum wage.

Dominic Raab @DominicRaab

Good to see this reasoned opposition to the NI Protocol Bill. Solid grounds for not allowing the Govt to push ahead with divisive proposals which would hurt community and business. @LibDems @allianceparty @StephenFarryMP @LaylaMoran @amcarmichaelMP hat tip @DuncanPonikwer

Yesterday I spoke at the ‘Pillow Talk’ vigil at St Peter and St Paul Church in Botley. The names of the 140 women who died at the hands of men in 2021, stitched into pillow cases, were read out. Mourners demanded change. Was extremely moving.

Great to join bus operators, councillors and officials from across Oxfordshire for the Bus Summit yesterday.

Vitally important that we boost passenger numbers, and encourage people to use this clean, green transport to get around our county!

Absolutely gutted by the news about the USA overturning Roe vs Wade. This will embolden those across the world looking to roll back rights for women and other minorities.

We can never take our rights for granted, we have to fight for them every single day. #mybodymychoice

Lib Dem MP Layla Moran says her party's win in the Tiverton and Honiton by-election cannot 'just be explained' by a desire for 'anyone but Johnson'.

@TomSwarbrick1 | @LaylaMoran

I have secured a debate next week in Parliament on non-disclosure agreements in alleged cases of sexual violence, bullying and harassment in universities.

I am looking forward to the opportunity to make the voices of survivors heard by the Government (1/2)

A big news day just got even bigger so tune into my @TimesRadio show from 4 to hear the latest on #RoeVsWade ; @Dannythefink @WilliamJHague @DavidLammy @LaylaMoran give me their take on on #byelection2022 & #BorisJohnson 's future

We did it!! Welcome @RichardFoordLD to our ever growing Parliamentary Party. The blue wall is smashed again opening up the SW flank.

Meanwhile the PM is in Rwanda. I wonder if he’d like to stay there.

Tiverton & Honiton parliamentary by-election result

LDEM: 52.9% (+38.1)
CON: 38.5% (-21.7)
LAB: 3.7% (-15.9)
GRN: 2.5% (-1.3)
REF: 1.1% (+1.1)
UKIP: 0.6% (-1.1)

Liberal Democrat GAIN from Conservative.

Great to see our local council taking action to bring an end to tragic deaths on Oxfordshire's roads. I have raised this in Parliament, and will keep the pressure on to ensure OCC have all the support from Government they need to achieve Vision Zero.

Out canvassing in sunny Devon. Just had a lovely chat with Nick Sleeman, manager of the Honiton Conservative Club… who is voting Liberal Democrat tomorrow! Thanks Nick.

@LaylaMoran For anyone who would like to join Alaa’s sister @monasosh at the vigil today, we will be outside the Foreign Commonwealth & Development office today (Wed 22nd June) from 5-7 & would love to see anyone who wants to be part of it. We are so grateful for ppl’s solidarity & care.

Ala'a Abd el-Fattah is now on day 81 of his hunger strike. He has been unjustly imprisoned by the Egyptian Govt for 8 years.

I asked the Foreign Secretary to meet with his family. They will be outside the FCDO today from 5pm-7pm. Liz Truss just needs to step outside to step up.

🧑‍⚕️ My constituents are seriously concerned by the struggle to get a GP appointment in our area.

It's about time the Government got a grip, and took action to remedy the lack of GPs which is leading to this crisis.

Today, I went to the Home Office to raise the serious issue of survivors of sexual violence who have been silenced by gagging clauses. Many thanks to @pritipatel for her time and engagement. Looking forward to working with @ukhomeoffice on this issue.

Responding to the news Long Covid has been recognised as a disability in a tribunal ruling for the first time in the UK: “This is undoubtedly a landmark ruling that will bring immense hope to many people who have been living with Long Covid" @LaylaMoran 1/

💥MAJOR BREAKTHROUGH: Foreign Sec @TrussLiz has just acknowledged @alaa’s case publicly for the 1st time time. She says she’s working hard “TO SECURE HIS RELEASE” & will be meeting with the Egyptian Foreign Sec “SHORTLY”.Thankyou @LaylaMoran for your robust question & solidarity

A message to voters in #TivertonandHoniton. 🧵

I have been a Tory supporter since I was a child. My parents were as Tory as they come, our home hosted MP surgeries. Our front room was often piled high with election literature and envelopes. That is my dad in the photo.➡️

Conservatives have for far too long neglected hardworking rural communities.

@HelenMorganMP has been working hard in North Shropshire for farmers, and @RichardFoordLD will do the same in Tiverton & Honiton!

The Lib Dems are committed to backing British farming! 🚜

Today, I presented my Palestinian Statehood (Recognition) Bill to Parliament.

It would formally recognise Palestine as a State in its own right. If the Govt are committed to lasting peace in the region, I urge them to support it. The recognition of Palestine is long overdue.

🚜 2 million tonnes of surplus food goes to waste on our farms every year, whilst the cost of living crisis affects millions.

💷 Yet lifeline funding to redistribute this food has been axed. I’m backing
@FareShareUK’s #FoodOnPlates campaign to get the government to act.

This week I'm proud to support #CervicalScreeningAwarenessWeek!

Cervical screening (smear tests) can save lives, but 1 in 3 do not attend when invited. If you have any questions or concerns, @JoTrust have information, tips, and support for you!
