It was fantastic to attend the Community Supporters' AGM at the Combe Valley Park on Saturday, and to learn more about the organisation's work over the past year.๐Ÿž๏ธ

This was followed by a really interesting Eco Fair during which it was great to speak to some stallholders too.๐ŸŒณ

Bolstering the #mentalhealth support that is available is one of the Government's top priorities, and this must include for looked after children.

Earlier today I asked the Health Secretary a question about this in the House, and you can listen to his response below.๐Ÿ‘‡

All avoidable injuries come with a cost, whether physical, financial, or emotional. The most serious ones can leave people unable to work and needing lifelong care, and even less traumatic injuries can have a detrimental impact on a person's enjoyment of life in the short-term.๐Ÿค•

Staying active is so important. That's why I'm pleased to announce that the ยฃ320m PE and sport premium will continue for another year, so that more schools like @floragardensw6 can offer their pupils enriching sporting opportunities โšฝ๐ŸŽพ๐Ÿ€๐Ÿˆ

.@TransportfSE has launched the public consultation on its draft Strategic Investment Plan and is encouraging those who live and work in the South East to have their say:

The men and women that serve in the armed forces represent the very best of the United Kingdom, upholding our countryโ€™s values and defending the vital freedoms on which we all rely.

Day in, day out.

At home and abroad.

Our Armed Forces keep the UK and our allies safe.

Earlier this week the Prime Minister thanked serving personnel and veterans for their extraordinary service to this country.

Thank you to @SallyAnn1066 for supporting our engagement event at Portcullis House this morning. Fantastic to see @mimsdavies and @Nus_Ghani too and speak to them about our vision for the region.

Bullying is awful and, whether online or face-to-face, no child should have face it alone.

Earlier this month I had the pleasure of meeting some of the local members of East Sussex Fire & Rescue.

From responding to emergencies to helping educate young people about related issues, the wide range of work they do on a daily basis is both important and remarkable.๐Ÿš’๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿš’

Due to planned industrial action called by the RMT, local services operated by Southeastern are due to be affected for several days starting tomorrow morning.โš ๏ธ๐Ÿš†

Last week I took part in COP26 Oral Parliamentary Questions and asked what progress the Gov is making in implementing nature-based solutions to help combat climate change and its effects.๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒณ๐ŸŒŠ

Listen to the response I received from the Minister for Nature Recovery below.๐Ÿ‘‡

Due to industrial action affecting our services on 21st, 23rd and 25th June, only travel by rail if necessary. If you do travel, expect severe disruption and plan ahead. Where trains are not running, you will be unable to travel. #RailStrike

Earlier I was very pleased to present my Child Support Collection (Domestic Abuse) Bill to the House.

If passed, this will better protect victims of domestic abuse in how they receive CM payments, and I look forward to leading my colleagues in a debate about it in October.

This afternoon I will be seeking to take part in the debate about next week's planned #railstrikes to speak up for the local businesses in Hastings and Rye that will be adversely impacted if they go ahead.๐Ÿš†โš ๏ธ

Forty years since British soldiers liberated Port Stanley we remember with pride all those who served and diedโ€ฏfreeingโ€ฏthe Falkland Islands from foreign occupation.

Because of them, Falkland Islanders today live and thrive in peace and freedom.

๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ฐ 40 years ago today, British forces liberated the Falkland Islands.

We will never forget the bravery & sacrifices made to protect the Islanders' right to live in peace, to choose their own way of life & determine their own future.

I wish you all a very happy #LiberationDay.

@SallyAnn1066 and Cllr Mike Edwards out on the doorsteps this weekend ahead of the Brede & Udimore by-election on Thursday! ๐Ÿ—ณ

Last week Hastings and Rye hosted beacon lightings to mark HM The Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

They were a wonderful event to be apart of, one replicated across the UK and Commonwealth, and it was also fantastic to see so many people turn out to celebrate this special occasion.๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‘‘

We're tackling the rising cost of housing.

By extending the right-to-buy scheme to housing associations, a further 2.5 million households will be eligible to purchase their own home.

We're reviewing access to mortgages so those in 'Generation Rent' can become 'Generation Buy'.

Our ocean is essential to all life on this planet and home to vital ecosystems ๐ŸŒŠ

By working together, we can ensure it is healthy - which will help us fight #ClimateChange ๐ŸŒ

We're leading 115 countries committed to #30x30 for our global ocean.

๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง With the National Security Bill, we are taking action to keep our country safe โ€“ overhauling and updating our outdated espionage laws.

Including measures to enable our law enforcement & intelligence agencies to deter, detect & disrupt the full range of hostile state threats.

Tomorrow is #WorldOceansDay, a time to recognise the crucial role the ocean plays in our lives.

This is especially the case for residents of coastal communities such as in Hastings and Rye, and I'll continue to lobby the Gov to do all they can to protect 30% of it by 2030.๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ

Leadership is always a heavy burden. @BorisJohnson was one of the first who realized the menace of ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ & stood by @ZelenskyyUa to protect the free world from barbaric invasion. The world needs such leaders. The UK is a Great friend of ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฆ. ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง crown is a shield of democratic world.

In 2019, we saw a massive majority of MPs elected for Boris Johnsonโ€™s Conservatives reflecting a realignment of politics based on 2016โ€™s EU referendum. The PM upholds that realignment, reflecting the values of people around the country who do not live in the โ€˜Westminster Bubbleโ€™.

โ€œI have been humbled and deeply touched that so many people have taken to the streets to celebrate my Platinum Jubilee.โ€

As the #PlatinumJubilee weekend draws to a close, Her Majesty has sent a thank you message to all those who have marked her 70 years as Queen.

Wishing all of my constituents a wonderful bank holiday weekend in celebration of Her Majesty The Queen's #PlatinumJubilee, and I look forward to seeing many of you out and about at some of the exciting events taking place across Hastings and Rye.๐Ÿ‘‘๐ŸŽˆ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง

The Attorney General hosted a visit of the Ukrainian Prosecutor General @VenediktovaIV last week to continue discussions between the UK and Ukraine to help ensure Russia is held to account for its actions.

๐Ÿ‘‘ Over seven decades the Queen has seen the world transformed beyond reckoning. But Her Majesty has remained a constant in our ever-changing nation.

Take a look at the Queenโ€™s reign throughout the decades ๐Ÿ‘‡ #PlatinumJubilee

Last week I attended an excellent roundtable hosted by @southeastlep to discuss how best to drive #levellingup across the region.

As a net contributor, the SE plays a vital role in the U.K.'s economy but it is important that our more deprived areas are not overlooked.

We can all be part of the change. Share this with your mates and together we can stop violence against women and girls.

Enough is enough ๐Ÿ‘‰

The Energy Bills Support Scheme has been doubled from ยฃ200 to ยฃ400 for every household with a domestic electricity meter.

This is a one off payment to help with rising costs, and will now not need to be paid back.

The Chancellor has now set out his plans to provide significant support to the British people and, alongside the action already taken earlier this year, the measures announced will ensure that the vast majority of households receive ยฃ550 to help tackle the cost of living.๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ’ท

Alongside the action weโ€™ve already taken this year today's measures will ensure:

The vast majority of households receive ยฃ550.

Pensioners receive ยฃ850.

And almost all of the eight million most vulnerable households will receive support of at least ยฃ1,200.

On Friday I had the pleasure of attending the anniversary celebration of the Southwater Community Centre.๐ŸŽ‰

It's been an important space locally since its opening, and I look forward to being able to play my part to help ensure that its next twenty years are just as successful.
