Quite something watching Labour ministers crashing again and again…
It’s not the spending, it’s the printing that causes inflation…
But it is the taxing to pay for the overspending that kills growth and enterprise…

Why isn’t this front page news?
Of all the threats mankind faces, the most immediate and devastating will come from the hands of a human in a laboratory…
Scientists warn over 'mirror bacteria' that could wipe out mankind
He speaks the truth…
Completely agree…
The destruction of Oxford Street continues. They are turning it into Westfield without the parking - doomed to fail.
Nothing unusual or eccentric, no charm or joyfulness, nothing to surprise or delight. No attempt to ornament our capital city. Ugh.
How do we create growth people want rather than growth people fear?
The economy is going to get a lot worse
A flat, high yield curve; broad money rising; excessive employment regs; public sector pay battles looming; big rise in tax on business; public spending splurge…
Reeves is building a big structural deficit and we will all pay the price
As France starts to collapse politically and economically…
Starmer and Reeves decide to give the same strategy a try anyway…
It isn’t nonsense. Listen carefully to what is said “3,000 redeployed” and then some actual nonsense about getting rid of bureaucracy, the usual fallback…
She also said “3,000 specials” - volunteer part time officers, so not FTE.
They just can’t stop gaslighting…

The architectural vandalism of our capital continues…
Shame on the architects @PilbrowandP for colluding on this prosaic crap…
There has been virtually radio silence from DfE about the great figures today showing English children are the best at maths in the western world. Just because it doesn’t fit their narrative doesn’t mean they shouldn’t celebrate it. Our teachers and pupils deserve better.
I think it’s finally dawning on them that of all the taxes they could have chosen, this is one of the most damaging to raise.
In a services economy it’s straight a levy on your biggest overhead.
For low margin businesses in particular it’s financially catastrophic.

Starmer and Reeves decide to give the same strategy a try anyway…
With broad money measures static or rising and a flat yield curve…
the private sector battening down the hatches already…
The public sector gearing up for pay battles….
And a looming trade war…
Recession is round the corner sadly..
We tried to warn them…
“But when are we going to have the conversation about the rights of the dying?”
My contribution to the assisted dying debate last Friday..

30 British rabbis have spoken out in the Sunday Times and challenged the Board of Deputies criticism of the British government -
“We believe that the government is correct to uphold an international rules-based order.”
Israeli civil society orgs are calling on the UK Jewish community not to undermine the UK gvt’s commitment to rule of law & accountability in Israel-Palestine but to speak out in support of those trying to build a better future in the region.
Proud to stand with them as partners
Directors of Israeli human rights & peace organizations to UK Jewish leaders:
Join with us in supporting the efforts of new UK government, @Hamish4Lincs & @DavidLammy for accountability and the rule of law -- necessary for a better future for Israelis and Palestinians alike.
The OBR has graduated as a political player.
This is no bad thing given the power Labour will give them and the political decisions they will allow or veto as a result. In effect they become co-chancellor.
Next election, we will be voting for or against an OBR derived economy
Rachel’s guide to growing your own £20 bn hole:
1️⃣ Do look at just one side of the budget: ignore departmental underspends but be sure to big up the risk of overspends.
2️⃣ Ignore the benefit of an improving economy with the interest rate government pays on borrowing expected to
So there are three possible explanations..either she didn’t bother to look, or she didn’t understand - doubtful for an MSc (Econ) - or she always intended to gaslight the nation..
Well, well, well…
Just *one* working day after my speech on Friday and I’ve got a u-turn off Angela Rayner and Steve Reed 😀
Listen to them laughing and hooting 40 seconds into the video when I told them they’d have to change their policy on nutrient neutrality……👇 (1/2)
ROFL…
This claim by Rachel Reeves is objectively simply not true. The 2010 public finances inheritance was far far worse, with a budget deficit over 10% of GDP and a vast banking system on government life support.
Don’t say you weren’t warned…
Don’t say you weren’t warned…
Don’t say you we didn’t tell you…
This is a big worry for Andover.
Don’t say you weren’t warned..
An act of horrendous cultural vandalism…
Remind me, what was that Kier said about not raising taxes on working people?
In the end all tax is paid by the people either directly or indirectly.
Bigger government always means bigger tax bills.
I think we all know that given the chance he will raise taxes don’t we?
Bigger government always means bigger taxes.
Worth a watch.
Re-reading the diaries of Lord Alanbrooke, Churchill's Chief of the Imperial General Staff. The entries up to D-Day are full of Wiltshire, where US and British troops trained for Op OVERLORD at Larkhill, Netheravon, Aldbourne, and all over the Plain. Some entries from June 1944:
