⬇️ Business activity shrunk
📉 £ falling 0.5% against the US$
🥊 Confidence hit
👎 “Thumbs down” by business for the budget
Who would have thought it…
Huge tax rises
Public sector pay increases
Increased regulation
Higher energy costs caused by Ed Miliband’s madness
Hugely increased borrowing
A massive public spending splurge with no reform or efficiency
…are a bad idea for the economy
The Foreign Office made FoRB a policy priority, but that achievement is now under threat via @CapX
“Reeves has bitten off far more than she can chew…I don't know a single person of demonstrable economic expertise anywhere near the top of this government.”
Financial markets are “increasingly concerned” about Labour's handling of the economy, @LiamHalligan tells @AfNeil.
Alex is exactly right.
The government's Budget hits farmers who feed the nation, small business owners, hard-up pensioners, parents who opt out of the state sector...and so many others.
If you don't vote Labour, they just don't care about you.
Labour now own growth. We left the fastest growth in G7. Labour talked down the economy. Now we see the results.
And OBR forecasts Labour’s budget to mean lower future growth than under us.
We need a resilient economy to face the challenges ahead. Where’s their plan for that?
The government is disgracefully complacent about the fact that Britain now has the highest electricity prices, for both industrial and domestic consumers, of any developed country.
We knew Labour would attack working people. Here they are throttling the finances of a nurse & veteran through their pernicious Education Tax, imposed in the middle of an academic year for maximum disruption.
Nasty ideology. Nasty policy. Nasty party. 🥀
#EducationNotTaxation
The economic damage caused by Labour's negative publicity was eminently predictable I'm afraid, and is clear evidence of Labour putting their political advantage ahead of the national interest.
More than tax rises. More than favouring public sector workers. More than immigration. More than imported US left-wing radicalism on eg crime and race…
Starmer and Miliband’s religious pursuit of radical climate change policies will be Labour’s undoing ⬇️⬇️
(PS And the planet…
A reminder that the right to a family life explicitly has an exception for “public safety” and for “the prevention of disorder and crime”. That courts have decided to ignore the actual, literal, treaty-agreed words of the ECHR is a major part of its crisis of legitimacy.
Your recent budget will do the opposite - destroy jobs, businesses, prosperity and economic security. You are delusional. Spending time at international jamborees like the G20 is displacement activity to avoid the grim reality of Britain’s prospects.
This monster should be deported immediately.
A failed asylum seeker and convicted paedophile gets to stay in the UK so as not to hurt his “family life”.
This madness needs to end.
Kier Starmer at Welsh Labour event cited Wales as role model. What about 20mph speed limits, failing health & education, ruined steel industry due to green lunacy, farming inheritance tax and worst performing economy in UK? Labour’s Wales isn’t a success story, it’s a warning
In 1846, the peak year of the Railway Mania, Parliament mandated 9500 miles of railways. HS2 is 140 miles. Imagine a country with less than a tenth of our GDP mandating 67 HS2s in a single year, and one begins to have a sense of what sort of people the Victorians were.
Deeply grateful to Sir Niall Ferguson for his generous endorsement.
If chosen to serve as Oxford Chancellor, I would strive to ensure the university remains a place where merit, talent, and rigorous scholarship flourish, free from fleeting trends that undermine enduring values.
Ed Miliband is the most dangerous man in Britain.
His policies will increase bills, destroy industry and make us less secure - the very opposite of what he claims.

The Reeves guide to conning the public:
1. Fake your CV
2. Tell working people you won’t raise their taxes
3. Squeeze them to the pips and give their money to your union paymasters
You can’t trust a word she says👇
It was a pleasure to chat to @JeremyClarkson today about the farmers’ rally and the terrible impact Labour’s budget will have on our rural communities.
Jeremy and I agree we cannot allow the government to get away with it.
