🇬🇧✍🏽🇳🇬 Our new landmark agreement with Nigeria will increase the deportation of dangerous foreign criminals to make our streets & country safer.
And take the fight to the criminal people smugglers together to tackle illegal migration.
Our #NewPlanForImmigration in action.
It was a pleasure to meet with Kirsty Southwell & Adele Jackson yesterday. I was inspired by Kirsty's passion & determination.
As we continue to fight to return a maternity & children's service to the Alex, we're going to work closely together to achieve this for #Redditch.

Honoured to have played a part in this at the @ukhomeoffice and thanks to all the officials in my department and at @MoJGovUK who worked with us to make this happen. This Bill will save lives and end the appalling practise of child abuse that is child marriage.
Feeling very tearful. The @Pauline_Latham MP Bill will literally save children’s lives. She has increased the age of marriage from 16 to 18 and criminalised child marriage. I’m so grateful to have been part of an amazing powerhouse team of awesome women. We can do it 💪🏼⚡️
Language matters. I have made clear that the word ‘woman’ should not be removed from key women’s health pages.
I have been assured that the changes highlighted below, as well as others, are being reversed.

Measures of the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act come into force today.
It will:
Keep our emergency workers safe 🚔
Give police more powers to make our streets safer 👮♂️👮♀️
And protect women and girls 👭
Looking forward to meeting with Kirsty Southwell this afternoon to discuss how we can work together to secure the return of a maternity and children's service to the Alex.

.Our summary of some of the key recent changes on Domestic Violence and VAWG - real change & more to come be on this key issue, particularly for cities
Thank you @RichardGrahamUK for being a tireless advocate in the fight against #vawg. Amazing work from many local Gloucester partners working together and supported by @ukhomeoffice funding to support victims and prevent crime
Great that Minister @redditchrachel came to #Gloucester to share Home Office plans legislation re VAWG & hear local challenges & experience hosted by @TheNelsonTrust & Butlers. Huge progress & more to come eg onspiking. Thx charities Maisie Cllrs Police & GCC for vital input
We're taking action across government to keep people safe from criminal fraudsters 👇
We're working with law enforcement & intelligence agencies to close down the routes they use to exploit people & bring them to justice.
Contact @ActionFraudUK for help & advice on protection.
Proud to have been with the inspirational Lissie Harper as #HarpersLaw came into force.
Her brave, dedicated campaign led to this landmark change to ensure what happened to Andrew never happens again, with life sentences for those who kill emergency workers in the line of duty.
Today marks a crucial milestone in delivering on our promise to the British public to take back control of our borders.
These new measures coming in force will help us crack down on abuse of the system & evil people-smugglers.
Putting our #NewPlanForImmigration into action 🇬🇧
The Labour Party have voted against tough measures to deal with sexual offenders, rapists and the perpetrators of violence against women and girls. I’m glad that we have been able to introduce these measures with the support of Conservative MPs. #vawg
On the day our PCSC Act came into force, a reminder of some of the key ways it toughens sentencing for serious crime 👇
Vitally important further steps in controlling illegal immigration
PC Andrew Harper was killed protecting the public. Today, Harper's Law, named in his honour, comes into force.
This new law introduces mandatory life sentences for those who unlawfully kill emergency workers in the line of duty.

An update on the work that is underway to return the Garden Suite to the Alex 👇
The days when rail strikes could bring Britain to a halt are gone. For millions, rail is now a choice, not a necessity. Tragically, this means that, if strikes continue, the biggest victims may end up being rail workers themselves. Time to modernise the railway & end this strike
I pay tribute to the incredible contribution that our veterans & those currently serving in our Armed Forces make to this country, protecting our people day & night.
Including Commonwealth vets & Gurkhas who can now more easily settle here.
Have a brilliant #ArmedForcesDay! 🇬🇧
Well done to @HantsPolice and thank you @Maggie_Blyth for all you do to keep women safe from this terrible practise.
Policing is focussed on using the new offence of non-fatal strangulation. Good outcome for @HantsPolice 👏🏻 https://twitter.com/hantspolice/status/1540364803331465216
Thank you @redditchrachel for writing to @CharlotteV to support our ideas on how gov’t can help stimulate demand for bus travel. We are committed to a full review, a new Enhanced Partnership in #Worcestershire, and #DemandResponsiveTravel to back-up our superb primary operators. https://twitter.com/redditchrachel/status/1540408460025757696
Thank you again @mikerouseuk for your time today to further discuss the work you're doing to review, enhance and secure the future of our bus 🚌 network.
I will continue to do everything I can to support you and to safeguard services.

Thank you @mikerouseuk for working tirelessly on this since starting in your new role.
I look forward to the Bus Travel Task Force coming to #Redditch.
In the meantime I will continue to work with you to safeguard services in our town.
I am establishing a Bus Travel Task Force for Worcestershire to support our full review, and to get us ready for a new Enhanced Partnership with our operators. At the same time we will be securing the future viability of our network. Let’s work together.

This week is #CervicalScreeningAwarenessWeek!
Smear tests can save lives, but they aren't always easy for everyone.
Follow @JoTrust this week to learn more about the test, #CervicalScreeningTips that might make it easier, and where you can find support!
Good to meet with @FarahNazeer, CEO of @WomensAid, which does such valuable work with victims & survivors of domestic abuse. Tackling violence against women & girls is a key priority for this government & I was pleased to hear Farah's perspective on work being done in this area.
I had a great meeting at No.10 where I was able to raise #Redditch’s priorities at the heart of Government 👇
I support this initiative and am grateful to @nadhimzahawi for highlighting an experience that so many children and parents will recognise. I was bullied at school, because I was a "swot" and liked learning and enjoyed my work. That wasn't popular at my school at the time.
Don’t face it alone.

On #ReservesDay, I want to pay tribute to 37 Signal Regiment here in #Redditch.
Thank you for your service to our country 🇬🇧
A lovely article from an iconic lady and a role model who I’ve been fortunate to meet. She has been ahead of the curve in her quiet support for @safelives_ and victims of domestic abuse. Great reading. https://www.vogue.co.uk/arts-and-lifestyle/article/camilla-duchess-of-cornwall-interview
Working closely with Cllr @mikerouseuk, we're doing everything we can to safeguard bus services 🚌 in #Redditch.

I'm pleased the Alex 🏥 has received further Government funding to keep the mobile MRI & CT scanners at the hospital for a further 6 months.
The scanners have been on site since the beginning of the year to help tackle the COVID backlogs.

Such great news. Everyone in #Redditch remembers how hard the community worked to raise money for this vital equipment. Now robotic surgery is finally coming to the Alex! An incredibly welcome development meaning better treatment for so many men. #loveredditch
I recommend reading this article setting out how @pritipatel is planning to take back control of our immigration policy from anonymous European judges. Its right that the elected government delivers on its mandate to reform our immigration system. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2022/06/17/priti-patel-scandalous-grounding-rwanda-flight-shows-time-quit/

Mr President, Volodymyr,
It is good to be in Kyiv again.
Thank you to all in the @ukhomeoffice and to policing colleagues who have devoted huge energy and commitment to this process via the Rape Review and Op Soteria. Including @Maggie_Blyth @aspsarah_crew and so many more @PoliceChiefs @ASPolice. These convictions are the result of
Rape convictions rose 67% in 2021.
But we’re restless to go further. So we’re piloting new specialist support for rape and serious violence cases at 3 courts to better care for victims, tackle the backlog and increase throughput.
