The Rwanda legislation that I took through parliament had a deterrent effect. When Labour scrapped it, illegal arrivals went up.

MPs have only had a short time to read the Strategic Defence Review.

It’s OK, keeping many of the commitments made by the Conservative government.

By why are they so timid? Why so slow? Why no financial certainty?

Labour had a change to be bold, they missed that chance. #SDR

While I’m not a procedural purist, it’s pretty outrageous that Labour have spent all weekend and this morning spinning a Strategic Defence Review that none of us have had a chance to look at.

They wouldn’t have done that if they were confident of its content.

Ukraine’s drone attack shows that those who have written them off were wrong to do so.

I’ve been to Ukraine, met people at every level of society and I learned one big lesson.

THEY WILL NOT GIVE UP!

The global risk and threat environment has changed dramatically, even since Jan of this year.

Taking almost a decade to reach 3% of GDP on defence is pathetically slow.

Defence needs money and clarity now!

The Government borrowed £20.2bn in April - significantly higher than expected and with no national crisis to blame.

This is a worrying sign for the UK’s fiscal health and a reminder that strong economic leadership matters more than ever.

1985: work starts on DLR
1987: finished and open to passengers

Two years from start to finish - 13km of track, multiple viaducts, 15 stations, 11 trains, plus a depot at Poplar.

But in the year of our Lord 2025, it takes one whole year to install new escalators in one station.

In less than a year, Labour has blown through its headroom, mismanaged the economy, and left working families facing yet another tax hike. It didn’t have to be this way.

Rachel Reeves, our Tin Foil Chancellor, has folded at every turn - rewriting fiscal rules and then constantly…

ANDREW NEIL: In 55 years of covering politics, I’ve never accused
ANY government of congenitally telling untruths. But Starmer
has taken lying, gaslighting and deceit to a new level

After a string of broken promises, Starmer fails to confirm that he’ll close the Asylum Centre in Wethersfield like he promised.

No wonder my constituents don’t believe a word he says. #PMQs

Congratulations to @realDonaldTrump on your election victory.

The USA is a key friend, ally, and partner. In turbulent times the bond between our two countries is more important than ever.

Delighted to hold my first meeting of the new Shadow Cabinet this morning.

My team draws on talents from across our party, based on meritocracy and with a breadth of experience and perspective, just as I promised during the campaign.

We will now get to work holding Labour to…

Labour has insisted repeatedly that ministers misled the OBR over what it claims is a £22bn black hole

And yet the OBR appears to be pointing towards Treasury officials, explicitly accusing them of breaking the law

Significant questions for senior officials in the Treasury,…

Out in Braintree with @JamesCleverly and our awesome Braintree Conservatives team ~ pretty clear message on the door that people are not impressed with this Labour Government

Huge thank you @RishiSunak

You led the @Conservatives at a very difficult time and have acted with dignity and professionalism.

Huge congratulations @KemiBadenoch.

Now time to pull together, take the fight to this useless Labour government and get you elected as Prime Minister.

In the election campaign Labour said it would increase taxes by £8.5 billion, spending by £9.5bn and borrowing by £3.5bn by 2028/29 fund its plans.

In the Budget the chancellor raised taxes by £40bn, spending by £76bn and borrowing by £36bn.

Rachel Reeves says she had no… 🧵

🚨 NEW: Rishi Sunak says Labour's claim of a bad inheritance is "ludicrous" having inherited the "second lowest debt in the entire G7"

"These are HER choices. So stop blaming everyone else and take resposbility for them."

I have never briefed against my colleagues.

The culture of disunity lost us the election and it must not go on.

I will unite our Party and return us to being a disciplined party of service.

I delivered Brexit in government, Farage didn’t.

I cut migration in government, Farage didn’t.

I will win voters back from Reform, and everywhere else.

Massive congratulations to Tim, Jack, Mazi, Ryan, Susan and Thomas on their by-election wins yesterday 👏

Winning nationally is impossible without winning locally

We have a brilliant grassroots party that needs to be empowered to deliver more results like these

It's not enough to say you'll do something, you have to actually deliver on your promises.

Great to be in Sidcup last night talking to members about my record of delivery as Home Secretary, Foreign Secretary and as Chairman of the Party.

To win at the ballot box we have to win the hearts and minds of the next generation

That means building an optimistic and aspirational policy platform that appeals to young people

If you want to stop illegal migration, you have to have a deterrent.

By scrapping it, Labour are allowing failed asylum seekers from countries like Iran and Syria a free pass to remain in Britain.

This is unsustainable.

If we’re going to grow the economy, reduce the size of the state and cut taxes, we have to get people back to work.

I knew we needed a deterrent.

The NCA knew we need a deterrent.

Labour’s new Border Chief also knows we need a deterrent.

Yet Labour’s first move in office was to axe the deterrent we put in place.

It’s clear from the Lib Dem conference, they have no plans to oppose Labour's dreadful policies.

We must win back the 60 seats that we lost to them at the election.

We don't need to chase Lib Dem or Reform policies, we need to prove to their voters we can deliver for Britain.

There have been 1,978 antisemitic incidents recorded in the first half of this year.

@CST_UK is helping to combat this and make Jewish communities in Britain safer. As Home Secretary, I overruled officials to ensure they received the funding to carry out this vital work.

I am…

This Labour government doesn’t know the difference between negotiating and capitulating.

The last Labour government tried to sell out #Gibraltar, I will make sure that they don’t try it again.

Rebuilding our party will start from the grassroots up. Without the voluntary party, my colleagues and I could not succeed.

So I am sending my congratulations to the new national convention team elected today
@JulianEllacott @FleurButler1 @John_Belsey @stewharper @Winstamike

My plan to fix Britain and put us back on top

➡️Reduce size of the state
➡️Lower taxes
➡️Immigration system based on contribution
➡️Use GDP per capita
➡️Support families & cut childcare costs
