Today, we’re announcing funding worth over £1bn to support thousands of young people and their families at every stage of life, from birth and into adulthood.

Unbelievable decision by @imperialcollege. It lets down students & parents. Students shouldn’t be on a different path - restrictions have been lifted. Their position isn’t reflective of vast majority of our great unis. I will call their President today https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2022/03/30/parents-banned-graduations-imperial-college-london-remains-bastion/

We're announcing bold new plans to improve support for children with special educational needs and disabilities and in alternative provision.

Our consultation seeks views on changing practice across education, health and care for a more inclusive system.

Today, I am publishing my brand new Schools White Paper 🏫👩🏽🧑🏻‍🏫

This will deliver for every child, parent and family - from rural villages and coastal towns, through to the largest cities.

I am determined to make sure all children and young people can fulfil their full potential.

This week, I will be publishing two new plans - one for our school system and another for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities 🏫👩🏽🧑🏻‍🏫

🇬🇧 The UK’s support for Ukraine’s self-defence is unwavering

🇺🇦 We’ve already provided over 4,000 anti-tank missiles and will provide 6,000 more missiles to aid against Putin’s invasion

Some have called for the fuel duty cut to last until August. I have decided it will be in place until March next year – a full 12 months.

Together with the freeze, this is a tax cut this year for hard-working families and businesses worth around £5 billion.

For the next five years, homeowners having energy saving materials like solar panels, heat pumps, or insulation installed will pay zero VAT.

The relief used to be more generous but the European Courts of Justice required us to restrict its eligibility.

The UK has given more than 3.7 million items of medical supplies to Ukraine, from painkillers & sedatives for intensive care procedures to bandages & wound care packs.

This will help save tens of thousands of lives from the appalling atrocities being committed in Ukraine.

I can confirm Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe and Anoosheh Ashoori will return to the UK today, and Morad Tahbaz has been released from prison on furlough. They will be reunited with their families later today.

We will continue to work to secure Morad's departure from Iran.

📣NEW - UK individuals, charities, community groups & businesses can now record their interest in supporting Ukrainians fleeing the war through our new Homes for Ukraine scheme.

Education secretary @nadhimzahawi today told students of Sheffield Park Academy, Sheffield - in a talk organised by @speakrs4schools - about how as a boy he fled Iraq and Saddam’s secret police in 1977 and made a home here. He was asked whether he was scared when he arrived…

This Government is working hard to ensure young people are getting ahead in life.

Our most recent stats show we are delivering, as the highest ever percentage of 16-24 year olds are now in education, employment or training.

The United Kingdom stands with the people of Ukraine 🇬🇧🇺🇦

People across the country want to support those defending Ukraine and those fleeing their homes because of the invasion.

I've just spoken to President @ZelenskyyUa about the gravely concerning situation at Zaporizhzhia nuclear power station.

Russia must immediately cease its attack on the power station and allow unfettered access for emergency services to the plant.

Donate to the Disasters Emergency Committee (@decappeal) Ukraine Appeal.

The UK Government will match donations from the public pound-for-pound starting with £20 million, meaning your support will go even further.

Had a phone conversation with @BorisJohnson. Grateful to the British Prime Minister for his position, new decisions to enhance the combat capabilities of the Ukrainian army. Agreed on further joint steps to counter the aggressor.

This evening I spoke to President @ZelenskyyUa. The heroism of the President and his people in the defence of their country is awe-inspiring.

We are clear – Russia must be isolated diplomatically and financially. I welcome increased willingness to exclude Russia from SWIFT.

Our mission is clear – diplomatically, politically, economically – and eventually, militarily – this hideous and barbaric venture of Vladimir Putin must end in failure.

I am appalled by the horrific events in Ukraine and I have spoken to President Zelenskyy to discuss next steps.

President Putin has chosen a path of bloodshed and destruction by launching this unprovoked attack on Ukraine.

The UK and our allies will respond decisively.

"UEFA must take a stand and deny Putin the status that hosting the Champions League final gives a country. It's a status he does not deserve."

Tory MP @david4wantage argues Russia cannot be allowed to host one of the most popular global sporting events ⚽

Of course UEFA shouldn't let Russia host this year's Champions League final.

We need to put students in the driving seat when making choices about where to study.
That's why I want every university advert to clearly state the drop-out rate and progression to graduate jobs - whether its online, on a billboard or in a prospectus.

@mandgplc invests in Greencore and pledges up to £500 million of investment in UK climate positive homes.
This investment will allow us to scale up the delivery of energy efficient homes which are climate positive in both construction and operation.

Really positive to see there were over 130,000 apprenticeship starts in the first quarter of the 2021/22 academic year 👩🏽‍🏭👨🏻‍💻🧑🏼‍⚕️

Up 43.0% on the same period last year and 3.5% higher than before the pandemic 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽

Deeply irresponsible for the UCU to be calling strikes now, when students have already missed so much face-to-face teaching.

I urge both sides to work constructively together - and I hope most staff will think twice before making students pay the price.

Today is Holocaust Memorial Day. We remember the six million Jewish men, women and children murdered by the Nazis and their collaborators, all victims of Nazi persecution and the victims of subsequent genocides. #HMD2022 #HolocaustMemorialDay

NEW: We will not tolerate Kremlin plot to install pro-Russian leadership in Ukraine.

The Kremlin knows a military incursion would be a massive strategic mistake & the UK and our partners would impose a severe cost on Russia.

@thesundaytimes There is no place for islamophobia or any form of racism in our @Conservatives party. @Nus_Ghani is a friend, a colleague & a brilliant parliamentarian. This has to be investigated properly & racism routed out. #standwithNus

Today is a big day for quality in higher education. For the first time, we are setting minimum standards on drop-out rates and progression to graduate jobs - so that every student gets a fair deal.

I promised that pupils wouldn't have to wear face coverings for a moment longer than necessary, so I'm pleased to say they will no longer be needed in classrooms from tomorrow.

And they won't be need to be worn in indoor communal areas from next Thursday, 27 January.
