Today is a landmark moment for the Deaf community, as parts of the #BSL Act legally come into force.
#BritishSignLanguage is being recognised as a language of the UK from today, a further step towards a more inclusive and accessible society.

Today is another momentous one for the D/deaf community with the launch of #999BSL app. This will allow D/deaf people to make free calls to UK emergency services through a BSL interpreter and save lives. This is an important step towards a more inclusive and accessible society

This #CarersWeek, I want to thank the millions of carers across the UK for all they do to support their loved ones.
Congratulations to @HistoricEngland and @NorwichChurches for saving the Grade I listed Church of St Michael Coslany, Norwich. This beautiful medieval church is an important local community space and home to the brilliant Oak Circus Centre.
In Belfast I also had the pleasure of catching up with @CommunitiesNI Minister @DeirdreHargey and the honour to speak at #HarkinBelfast . In my speech I called on all businesses to employ more disabled people to create a more diverse and inclusive workforce
Fantastic to be in Belfast today and visit the @NOW_Group and Alexander Mann Solutions to see first-hand the incredible work they are doing to support disabled people into work and in their daily lives. Special mention to the delicious lunch from @lovelyloaf
