Yesterday in the Commons, I asked about social care and the challenges of integrating health and care services locally. I asked the Secretary of State to ensure that, as Covid-related funding streams end, Councils are still able to access the right finance and support for Care.
Every single family in the whole county received a school place offer for one of their preferred schools today, on Primary Schools offer day π¨βπ«

ICYMI: Last week, Government announced our new Tackling Domestic Abuse Plan.
Backed with Β£230 million in funding, weβre taking tough action against perpetrators, while making it easier for victims to get the support they need.
I'm still ecstatic about the news that @WestNotts will be receiving a share of more than Β£400 MILLION, which will make sure even more people across Mansfield are supported to get the skills they need to get a good job.
Here's a short video with a bit more info!

Thank you Department for Transport! Delighted we're remaining at the centre of Government's levelling up plans.
Fab to join fellow East Midlands MPs @Bren4Bassetlaw and Mark Fletcher at an event in Parliament last week, where we were throwing our support behind North Notts being selected as a site for a new multi-billion pound energy investment!
An MP should use a term like 'fascism' accurately and responsibly.
Great - well done @RishiSunak. Using his own money to fund scholarships for others to get the benefit of the education which he enjoyed is an entirely good thing to do. More people should do the same. https://twitter.com/SkyNews/status/1511346154776186885

After a handful of celebrities with big followings decided to (deliberately?) misinterpret my comments on C4, I've removed the tweet. No point trying to have a sensible convo in a pile on orchestrated by someone with a million+ followers.
Yep. Defo fascism. First thing every fascist does is relinquish state control of the media
Around the world, state broadcasters are typically a beacon of openness and transparency. Free markets are baddies. Must be true

The government has just confirmed its intention to βprivatiseβ Channel 4. This is not freedom or independence - its the seedbed of fascism
In news of Channel 4 Newsβ privatisation, I present to you its greatest moment on air π
Channel 4 has a valuation of about 1% of that of @netflix. If it wants to grow and compete globally it will need access to capital. Taxpayers can not be asked to provide risk capital. It will continue flat-lining as a small player if it stays in state hands.
This argument totally illogical. Government is removing its dead hand from the top and leaving a business to be run like a business, because there's no longer a need for the state to be involved
Idea that leaving things to the market is somehow unconservative is just nonsense β
The sale of Channel 4 is politicians and civil servants thinking they know more about how to run a business than the people who run it. Very unconservative. Mrs Thatcher, who created it, never made that mistake.
ICYMI: Last week, Government announced our new Tackling Domestic Abuse Plan.
Backed with Β£230 million in funding, weβre taking tough action against perpetrators, while making it easier for victims to get the support they need.
Channel 4 rightly holds a cherished place in British life and I want that to remain the case. I have come to the conclusion that government ownership is holding Channel 4 back from competing against streaming giants like Netflix and Amazon. 1/3

Things are looking positive and I'm glad Government is listening on these important issues!
I've been to visit Jigsaw Support Scheme based at the Fire Station, to talk about the support they offer in the community with mental health, social support and helping people with hoarding etc. Thanks for all you do π
Imagine MPs or peers trying to do right thing and amend poorly drafted redundant legislation, criminalising what has already been criminalised, worried about profound consequences for children with gender dysphoria, and facing months of barrage. Would it lead to good legislation?

Very informative and helpful thread for anyone either a) worried about dropping of conversion therapy bill or b) wondering why it was a very contentious piece of legislation. Thanks @nmdacosta -a real service. (PS this has nothing to do with religion, as some claiming). https://twitter.com/nmdacosta/status/1509576587825627143
Given profound unintended consequences this bill would have had for children struggling with gender dysphoria it is right decision. Thatβs our pledge to every parent.
Itβs part of the central mission of this government: to unite and level up across the country.
