Final session at the #LGAConf22 for the @LGACons is being led by @RishiSunak.

It is refreshing to hear of his support for #LocalGov and the honesty discussing the challenges and opportunities ahead for our sector. #CouncilsCan

Yesterday @CommonsTreasury hosted a meeting with our German counterparts, the Bundestag Finance Committee. It was a good and timely discussion on Russian sanctions, inflation and financial services regulation. @maxmordhorst @goerke_c @AloisRainer @mischrodi

Given the significant economic cost of the recent rail strikes it is important we progress the introduction of Minimum Service Levels to limit the damage in the future.

Grateful to @GregHands for agreeing to meet so I could highlight the significant concern of many local residents about the proposed Mallard Pass Solar Farm. We discussed the scale of the proposal and impact on agricultural land. The 2nd round consultation is now open.

Proud to have been with the inspirational Lissie Harper as #HarpersLaw came into force.

Her brave, dedicated campaign led to this landmark change to ensure what happened to Andrew never happens again, with life sentences for those who kill emergency workers in the line of duty.

I’m terribly saddened to hear that Dame Deborah James has died. What an inspiration she was to so many.

The awareness she brought to bowel cancer and the research her campaigning has funded will be her enduring legacy.

Because of her, many many lives will be saved.

One of the ways we can tackle regional inequality is to unlock more private investment into our growing firms of the future, enabling them to start-up, scale up & grow our economy 🇬🇧

Our farmers have been facing extreme pressure on cash flows owing to rising fertiliser and fuel costs. That’s why it’s vital we give them the support and confidence to plan for the future 🚜 🇬🇧

Staying active is so important. That's why I'm pleased to announce that the £320m PE and sport premium will continue for another year, so that more schools like @floragardensw6 can offer their pupils enriching sporting opportunities ⚽🎾🏀🏈

📣 On Monday, we’ll hold our first #VentureCapital inquiry session on the outlook for the venture capital market & issues such as taxation and regulation

🗣️ We'll hear from @AICPRESS, @BVCA, @EISAssociation & @venture_trust

Given the significant disruption the strikes have caused this week, I would certainly support the introduction of Minimum Service Levels to help limit the harm these actions do to hardworking people.

Thank you my friend President @ZelenskyyUa for hosting me in Ukraine yesterday.

It was incredibly moving to walk the streets of Kyiv with you once more, to pay tribute to your fallen soldiers whose sacrifice, unconquerable courage and bravery we will never forget.

My thoughts are with the loved ones of Jo Cox MP as we remember her life, six years on from her murder – a horrific attack on our democracy that aimed to make us forget we have #MoreInCommon. We continue our crackdown on extreme right-wing terrorist groups who’ll never divide us.

Today, we launched our first ever #FoodStrategy which will:

🚜 Boost food production
🇬🇧 Back British farmers
🥕 Promote local produce
📈 Create jobs

”One always measures friendships by how they show up in bad weather”. Finland and the UK are great friends and strong partners. We work to deepen our security cooperation.

Good call with #UK PM @BorisJohnson. I welcomed the signing of mutual security assurances between the U.K. and #NATO’s close partners #Finland & #Sweden. We also discussed the UK’s steadfast support for #Ukraine and preparations for the #NATOSummit in Madrid.

I am delighted by the announcement from the British and Swedish Prime Ministers on a mutual security agreement. Through the JEF and bilateral partnerships my counterpart Peter Hultqvist @ForsvarsdepSv and I constantly work to strengthen UK-Swedish defence ties 🇸🇪🇬🇧@BorisJohnson

Today on #FirefightersMemorialDay as I reflect on the sacrifice of those who have given so much to keep us all safe I wish to say a heartfelt thank you to the officers, staff and the families of @LincsFireRescue and all F&R services everywhere. #safertogether

Was great to be at @DaltonSeeds in Eye. A family business in my constituency that is now 70 years old 💪

Was joined by neighbouring MPs @SteveBarclay and @GarethDavies_MP #WinningTeam 💙

At a handshake distance. @BorisJohnson and @ZelenskyyUa walked through the center of Kyiv and talked to ordinary Kyivans. This is what democracy looks like. This is what courage looks like. This is what true friendship between peoples and between nations looks like.

BREAKING NEWS: The #DownSyndromeBill completed its @UKHouseofLords stages today. The Bill has now been passed in both Houses of @UKParliament, meaning it will receive Royal Assent and become an Act. A huge thank you to @GarethDavies_MP for your support. #DownSyndrome https://twitter.com/LiamFox/status/1509119494509236231

This is the big one. Incresaing the National Insurance threshold so it now matches Income tax from July.

That £3,000 rise of threshold to £12,570 is a gain of £330 a year

And more than offsets the 1% rise for many on lower incomes. Good call

#SpringStatement2022

In 2024, for the first time in sixteen years, the basic rate of income tax will be cut from 20% to 19%

That’s a £5bn tax cut for over 30 million people. Watch below to find out more 👇

We have not abandoned free markets because we cannot escape market forces. No one can. Even at the height of Communism, the reds were riddled with black markets.

I can confirm Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe and Anoosheh Ashoori will return to the UK today, and Morad Tahbaz has been released from prison on furlough. They will be reunited with their families later today.

We will continue to work to secure Morad's departure from Iran.
