Ian Lavery is MP for Wansbeck and a member of the Labour party.

Ian Lavery has 93079 followers on Twitter.

The victims of the horrendous contaminated blood scandal are understandably furious & frustrated in equal measure at the pace of rightful settlement. I continue to support them in Parliament.

A Night to Remember! The 66-piece Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra will perform a specially curated Merseyside songbook in support of Liverpool Zoe’s Place.

Don’t miss this fantastic evening of collaborations and reimagined classics from a stellar lineup of artists…

I am proud to be one of the 42 MPs that are standing up for those on PIP.

I will not let the 10,467 claimants that are in my constituency down.

The government needs to change course.

Today we remember Jack Charlton - a true local hero.

He won the World Cup and inspired generations of footballers. We should all be proud of him.

There is something deeply, deeply wrong if MPs vote to make their own constituents worse off.

I am proud to stand up for the 10,467 people of Blyth and Ashington who claim PIP.

The local election results in Northumberland and across the country have been a disaster for the Labour Party and should serve as a wake up call.

It was a pleasure today talk to health & safety representatives from across the Trade Union movement about the hazards of asbestos in the workplace. We must continue to campaign to eradicate, not mange asbestos from the workplace.

It was an honour to attend the Workers’ Memorial Day service this morning in Ashington.

It is a chance for us all to renew our commitment to remember those lost and fight for the living. ✊

Excellent visit to the very impressive Blyth Valley Disability Forum. Good conversations with David and Lee about the home care they provide for hundreds of residents in Blyth. Priceless.

We’d like to thank @IanLaveryMP for speaking in last night’s Adjournment Debate on @CoalfieldsRegen funding.

We are asking the @mhclg to invest £50 million into the CRT to create a long term revenue stream worth £3.5-4million a year to benefit coalfield communities.

“As a union, we need to stay united. You don’t change your coach in the middle of a fight.”

Take a look at this video to find out why a vote to re-elect me as your @fbunational General Secretary, is a vote for strong leadership that listens and delivers.

Thanks, Seona, for your…

Standing together, we can shape our future and build a service and profession to be proud of.

I am standing for re-election as General Secretary of the Fire Brigades Union, sign up to back my campaign 👉 https://actionnetwork.org/forms/support-matt-wrack-for-general-secretary/

This week has been busy! From chairing the Labour Unions, to committing to support retail workers my takeaway from Labour conference has been clear:

We must deliver a New Deal for Working People quickly.

Let’s transform this country ✊

When @MattWrack and the @fbunational stand up on fire safety they make us all safer.

A crucial, life saving motion passed by them yesterday.

Thank you.

We have had decades of relentless attacks on regulation. That has endangered lives.

We know Grenfell was avoidable, the report made that clear. So @fbunational proposed a clear, detailed and comprehensive set of policies to ensure that Grenfell never happens again.

Proud to sponsor the annual @labourunionsuk Rally and Reception - @IanLaveryMP opening the speeches as we celebrate so much that has already happened under a Labour Government #NewDeal

I'm at @UKLabour's conference to speak up for firefighters and stand up for workers.

We'll be putting Grenfell and the building safety crisis at the top of the agenda.

Congratulations to @JessicaLBarnard, @Yasmine_Dar and @gembolton who have ran excellent campaigns to get re-elected to the NEC today.

I am gutted that @Mish_Rahman was unlucky and didn’t get re-elected. He has been an excellent voice speaking out for grassroots democracy.

Football ticket prices have caught the attention of Parliamentarians with @IanLaveryMP tabling an Early Day Motion criticising clubs for exploiting supporter loyalty, increasing costs and attacking concessions.

This Government is creating new energy sources and new green industries which will boost our economy and create jobs.

I have invited Ed Miliband, the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, to visit our area to see how we can make those opportunities accessible.

Today, 60,000 workers take on Asda in their fight for equal pay.

It’s the biggest ever private sector equal pay claim.

Will you stand with us? ✊

I spoke to The i Newspaper this week about the despicable rhetoric of ‘cutting red tape’ that persists despite the Grenfell tragedy.

We deserve so much better from our politicians.

As well as 6 years on the Transport Committee,
I served 2 years on the HS2 Bill Committee.

As TSC chair, I will hold the government to account for the spending and impact of the project.

Huge infrastructure projects must provide value for money. #GM1stpreference4TSCChair🗳️

There are over 3,000 buildings with dangerous cladding.

Dagenham last week showed that the Government has not been quick enough to learn the lessons. Thanks to the professionalism of firefighters no one lost their life but we cannot continue to have these risks normalised.

I fully agree with @MattWrack.

First responders risked their lives on that night. It is the construction companies, central government and management practices that need scrutiny.

The @fbunational have been sounding the alarm for decades. It is time they were listened to.

I’ve been proud to be part of the @pcs_union campaign to reinstate the PCS reps at Benton Park View. I’ve personally met with the individuals concerned and see this as an attack on the trade union by the HMRC.

On Monday I asked the chancellor how much the Tories forked out from the public purse to make sure the share holders of private rail companies didn’t feel the cost of strike action.

The answer: it cost us £1.6bn.

What an utter disgrace.

The attack on legal aid over the last 14 years was an attack on working class communities.

Well done to @Unite_LW and @DefendLegalAid for campaigning on this.

Liz Truss might claim that she is a victim.

I would say the millions who were plunged into economic catastrophe are the victims of her mess.

Today I told the Government that we need action to ensure every person impacted by the #horizonscandal, whether employed by the Post Office or by a subpostmaster, has access to compensation.

I will continue to raise this to make sure people are supported by this Government.

What a feeling it was voting to pass legislation for the re nationalisation of our Railways.
Like many others I’ve campaigned for decades for this change. Power to @RMTunion @ASLEFunion @TSSAunion ✊️✊️

Excellent point from @IanLaveryMP

Rail passengers suffered mayhem while the last government propped up the huge dividends and bonuses of the privatised train operating companies

A missed opportunity for Rachel Reeves to talk about the massive waste caused by PRIVATISATION

On Friday I sought assurances from the Cabinet Office that the children deliberately identified with genetic conditions for research purposes involved in the #contaminatedbloodscandal would be compensated. We can never let this chilling act happen again.

Nationalisation of rail is sensible politics.

We need a service that works for the public and for the workers. Currently we have neither.

Let’s end the rail rip off and make infrastructure work.

I told Parliament today that MPs are paid a fortune.

There is no excuse at all for colleagues to take up second jobs that pay ludicrous sums of money when they should be making the voices of their constituents heard.

Boris Johnson and Theresa May might have been able to find time to earn millions on the side of being MPs but if you ask me it is impossible to represent 70,000 people in Parliament and have a second job.

It is an immense relief that we finally have a Government that has put the infected blood scandal at the top of their agenda.

Thank you to the Prime Minister and the Paymaster General for taking this issue seriously and agreeing to publish the report.

I cannot accept that extremely deprived people suffering the overwhelming burden of heartless poverty should have to wait for the expansion of the economy before Labour takes steps to drastically improve their lives.

I was proud to put my name to Kim Johnson’s amendment!

I will put country before party when it comes to lifting 300,000 of our poorest children out of poverty.
