#voteSNP on 4 July. #GE24🗳️

🧵 I want to take people through my 5 year campaign on democratic oversight of UK special forces, and trying to get the truth from ministers and institutions more interested in covering their backs than public transparency.

A thread…

First Minister @JohnSwinney and Taoiseach @SimonHarrisTD met at the British-Irish Council in the Isle of Man.

They reaffirmed 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 and 🇮🇪's deep and longstanding ties and discussed potential opportunities to collaborate on shared priorities, including renewable energy.

👏People benefit from new woodland planting in so many ways, from richer and more diverse habitats to enhanced landscapes; carbon sequestration and storage; timber; clean water; mitigation of diffuse agricultural pollution; reduced flood risk; secure jobs + a stronger economy.🌲

Deliberately disingenuous &breathtaking hypocrisy. While ScotGov raised £1.5bn more in tax to mitigate UK austerity you voted against it. You’d impose deeper cuts, indeed Nuffield Trust, IFS & IPPR confirm Labour plans would mean deeper cuts than Tories. Reject austerity #VoteSNP

This is what leadership looks like.

@JohnSwinney in front of an English audience, calmly explaining why Scotland must have the choice over its own future - and why it’s wrong for Westminster parties to deny it.

It’s common sense - met with applause by the York audience. #bbcqt

BREAKING - 5 year campaign wins big - Supreme Court says you can’t grant planning for oil and gas without considering greenhouse gas emissions when that oil is burned . Huge potential impact for any new oil gas or coal projects in UK

🗳️ Together, let’s build a future made in Scotland.

💥 In a letter to me late last week, the MoD has finally admitted that UK Special Forces were able to veto their Afghan counterparts coming by to the UK, where they could be called as witnesses in an inquiry into allegations of war crimes. 🛑 Time and time again, Scotland gets ignored by Westminster parties.

💛 We deserve better than the Tory-Labour consensus on cuts, Brexit and the two-child cap.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 The SNP will always put Scotland's interests first.

👇 @JohnSwinney: "Never let anyone tell you that independence is separate from people's daily lives and concerns.

It's fundamental to people's lives; it concerns where decisions about Scotland are made - decisions about our economy, our health service, and our living standards."

NEW: SNP manifesto

This is the kind of manifesto many wanted Labour to deliver

The pitch is left of centre - socially progressive…

with a persistent argument about the harms of being tied to a broken Westminster

Protecting the NHS from privatisation is a key theme
