Met with a delegation of Ukrainian MPs yesterday in Parliament to share with them our solidarity and discuss how we can help the Ukrainian people. I will continue to act as a strong voice in Parliament - Scotland stands with Ukraine. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇺🇦

….2/ must be reassuring for the @ScottishLabour party to be agreed by their shadow foreign Secretary that they are a ‘branch office’ #BranchOffice #knowyourplace

7️⃣ Over the course of the pandemic, the nature of the funding and how it was allocated changed. We had to adapt systems, quantum of funding and collaborative working to respond effectively in each phase - despite that @AuditScotland conclude we managed the Budget effectively.

4️⃣ Urgency and speed were of the essence, so we adapted our schemes to distribute funding as quickly as possible. Of course, pressures on businesses, households and public services were extreme - that’s why we moved at speed.

3️⃣A lot of business support schemes were unique to Scotland - unavailable elsewhere in the UK - and they made a big difference. 82% of businesses who received Scot Gov support said it helped them keep trading compared with 62% who only received UK Gov support.

2️⃣ Despite the uncertainty of the pandemic, unexpected UK Gov announcements and the need to respond quickly, the Scot Gov managed it’s Budget well. NOTE: the report covers up to Dec 21, before year end, at which point not all funding had been spent. It has now.

1️⃣ The Scot Gov spent more on Covid-19, than the funding we received from the UK Gov. That includes £5.2bn on business support, £1.8bn for councils and £5.7bn for health. NOTE: this report only covers funding up to Dec 21 (not the full year of accounts hence the gap).

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Evidence from 2021 Scottish Election Study shows that the majority of people in Scotland - 61% - think @scotgov has the mandate to deliver an independence referendum.

🗳️ The mandate is clear, and Scotland will have the choice. Let's do this together:

There is literally a footnote on that screenshot - item 2 - that confirms this isn’t a full year of actual spend. The Budget is for the full year but the “estimated actual spend…[is] to December 2021.” Like I’ve said, read the report rather than the oppositions’ bizarre takes.

Here’s what the @AuditScotland says about how much has been spent against what was budgeted. 1/3

It was a pleasure to meet Cuban ambassador Barbara Montalvo @B_E_Montalvo to discuss the challenges we all face with #climatecrisis to discuss #change needed to ##energy, #agriculture & wider ##greeneconomy that our nations face & to strengthen our friendship 🇨🇺 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 @thesnp

Hoy sostuve excelente y útil intercambio con el parlamentario por el Partido Nacional Escocés, @ChrisLawSNP.

Thinking of Jo today, remembering the first time we met and how I fell for her immediately as she clattered across PCH and got right in to what the UK should (still) be doing in Syria. Sending love to Jo's family and friends, to @JoCoxFoundation, and everyone missing her x

.@Ianblackford_MP: "Mr Speaker, yesterday our First Minister started a national conversation on Scotland’s right to choose an independent future.

When we look at nations like Iceland, Ireland, Norway and Denmark, it’s clear our neighbours are outperforming the UK." #PMQs

Right on cue, UK wishes to withdraw from the European Convention on Human Rights & follow in the footsteps of Greece during the period a military junta took over & Russia following its invasion of Ukraine - Great company @BorisJohnson🇬🇧 #Rwanda

Stephen Kerr stood in a constituency election on a platform against an independence referendum. The SNP candidate won. He came THIRD.

It is simply wrong & anti-democratic for opposition MSPs to tell the elected Scottish Government that they have no right to deliver a referendum.

.@BorisJohnson has now suffered the resignation of two ethics advisers, Allan and Geidt. This is without precedent. As Geidt himself said on Monday, his departure would wholly undermine the credibility of the system for keeping ministers on the straight and narrow. Well he…

As @NicolaSturgeon lays out a compelling case for Indy, Johnson underlines the stark choice by petulantly threatening to remove from us all the basic protections afforded by the European Convention on Human Rights so he can deport asylum seekers to Rwanda #YouYesYet

2021 @ScotVoting asked public if the #SNP won a mandate for an #indyref2. in a neutrally worded question, 55% said "yes" there is a mandate @BBCGaryR @BBCRadioScot @ESRC 1/3 🧵

This was bound to happen. To be clear: main thing is that no flight took off! But Europeans in the UK: fasten your seatbelts, it’s going to be another bumpy ride. Everyone: fasten your human rights. They will soon be threatened even more when Johnson attempts to leave the ECHR.

Good clear explanation of why Johnson, Truss, Lewis , Eustace and all the rest are lying , and know they are lying, when they say the Bill is not against international law.

We have won today, but we will continue the fight tomorrow and against EVERY racist deportation ✊🏾✊🏾🔥🔥

Opposition members were all too keen to stand up & voice—with faux incredulity—their objections to independence.

But none could give any good reason why the democratic choice made by the people in the Scot Parl elections last year to have a referendum should be denied.

We could build a new Scotland.

Wealthier, fairer and happier.

A new series of papers will set out how an independent Scotland could work.

Thank you for your tireless commitment to improving the lives of children around the world through education and music.

“Any case for change must inevitably begin with an analysis of the ‘status quo,’” writes @NicolaSturgeon in a foreword to the first in a series of papers setting out a refreshed case for Scottish independence.
