"As Conservatives members from across the UK debate their choice of future Prime Minister, those of us who are supportive of international aid spending can only fear the worst about its future."
✍️ I've written for the Scotsman on independence and aid.
July Monthly Update - showing some of the work I did last month, as your Member of Parliament.
MPs have the power to change things for dying people who are suffering unimaginably at the end of their lives.
We need to ensure that dying people are given control and the choice of an assisted death. #YesToDignity
Pleased to be able to offer my support and solidarity on the picket line with Members of the Communication Workers Union (CWU) in Ayr this morning. @cwuscot1
You can now read my July column on the @ayradvertiser website:
If you get Pension Credit you could also get £650 worth of support for the cost of living.
I would encourage any older constituents to make a claim by 18th August to ensure they receive the full Cost of Living Payment.

I'm pleased @wendychambLD is taking forward a Private Member's Bill focused on providing Carers Leave to millions of family carers. Carers play such a valuable role in our communities, which is why I intend to support the Bill at 2nd Reading on 9 September.
Welcome to another new trackside board sponsor at Somerset Park.
We're delighted to have the support of local member of parliament @allandoransMP.

High temperatures can be extremely dangerous for dogs, especially if left in a hot car. So, it's important we take preventative action and are able to recognise the signs of distress.
Follow @DT_Pawlitical @DogsTrust's warm weather advice this summer to protect your dogs.
Lovely Church service at Ayr’s Auld Kirk yesterday with @allandoransMP and @AyrshireABC celebrating the life of Rabbie Burns. In his short 37 yrs, he captured 18th cent 🏴 through song and poetry and his legacy continues to shine bright 226 yrs later.
Delighted to have the opportunity to speak in favour of the Neonatal Care (Leave & Pay) Bill in Parliament yesterday. Congratulations to Stuart MacDonald SNP for choosing and introducing this as his Private Members Bill @Stuart_McDonald @Blisscharity
I'm supporting #ArrivalsDutyFree.
Travel retail sales are crucial to the financial stability of Prestwick Int Airport. As international travel resumes, duty free stores on arrival will provide further support.
It's good for business, good for travel and good for the UK.
Scotland is outperforming on every level and Unionists are terrified! We will take our country back! #ScotlandCan #ScotlandIsBetter
Important week at the @bloodinquiry - There must be urgent progress on interim compensation for those infected and affected by #ContaminatedBlood @Factor8Campaign
Here is the proof. SNP, Alba and people with no political affiliation campaigning in Ayr for independence yesterday. We all have our personal views, but we need to put political differences aside and work together for independence.
Alba and SNP members, including elected SNP members, are working together running "For Independence" stalls without party branding. They're also distributing pro-indy leaflets with no party branding. It's great to see.
The essential Suella Braverman interview. Watch and weep
A few of the cross party and no political party, YES supporters, at the Ayr for Independence street stall this afternoon. Delighted to meet new activists committed to independence and to have positive conversations with people seeking information about independence for Scotland.
This is James O'Brien's ferocious reaction to Keir Starmer being cleared of any wrongdoing in the 'non-story' Beergate saga.
Delighted to meet with Depute Service Lead, Julie Neil and team from Cumnock Job Centre Plus today. Their team work incredibly hard to support those most in need, and often do not get the credit they rightly deserve. Check out @JCPinSWScot to keep up to date with their events.

I’m pleased to support @Sue_Ryder in calling for improvements to bereavement support. Their research showed 70% of respondents who had experienced a close bereavement said that they could not access the support they would have liked.

Disgraceful that Boris Johnson is using #NorthernIreland to pick a fight with #EU in desperate attempt to rally #Brexiteers behind him! #NIProtocol https://twitter.com/TheHouseMag/status/1543143691191197699
"This government’s reckless decision to tear up sections of the Protocol runs the risk of triggering a trade war with the EU, which could result in tariffs being placed on UK exports."

Attended an information session on the menopause. One of the most common and upsetting symptoms is hot flushes. Invited to try on a MenoVest which simulates hot flushes Very uncomfortable and gave me an indication of how women are adversely affected at this time of their lives.

This #WorldRefugeeWeek I'm pleased to send a clear message to the UK Government - refugees are welcome here.
I want to recognise and welcome the refugees who have made Ayrshire their home, and who bring so much to our local community.

Privileged to attend Armed Forces Day in Ayr to thank and acknowledge our armed forces, past and present, for their service. We are forever in their debt. Photos of Reverend David Gemmell who conducted the flag raising service and Provost Iain Campbell of South Ayrshire Council.
The Government’s plan to deport people to #Rwanda is a disgrace and must be stopped.
I am standing against the #AntiRefugeeLaws which seek to punish those who need protection.
Independent countries of a similar size to Scotland are wealthier, happier and fairer than the UK. So, #WhyNotScotland?

As a former Police Officer, I understand stress comes with the job & we must deal with this. However, it's unhelpful for the media to suggest mental health illnesses are soaring among our officers, when figures show these absences are, in fact, falling: https://www.thenational.scot/politics/20205131.headlines-soaring-mental-illness-among-police-irresponsible/
I’m pleased to add my name to this cross-party letter urging the Prime Minster to cancel tomorrow’s deportation flight to #Rwanda. This is a shameful and abhorrent plan which must be dropped immediately.
Great to see my colleague @allandoransMP today as we attended Auld Kirk’s church service for the Queens platinum jubilee. Always in awe of the church Rabbie Burns attended and the great history. 🏴
Pleased to attend a meeting of the Women Against State Pension Injustice (WASPI) group this afternoon in Ayr and delighted to be recognised and presented with a WASPI HERO AWARD for my support for the cause since 2017. The campaign for justice for the WASPI women continues !
Today I & #JagtarSinghJohals brother Gurpreet had a constructive meeting with the Foreign Secretary @trussliz to discuss the ongoing detention of #Jaggi. We hope for a satisfactory conclusion to nearly 5 yrs of detention #FreeJaggiNow
Every month I have a column in the @cumnockchron
You can now find my monthly contribution on their website. Here's my column for May:
I support a ban on foie gras made by force-feeding. We agreed it's too cruel to produce in the UK, now let’s finally end the hypocrisy by banning all foie gras imports! Read @animal_equality’s new report: https://bit.ly/foie_gras_report
Dementia is one of our greatest long term health challenges, with a devastating impact on individuals and their loved ones. That's why I've written to @SyedKamall in support of @AlzResearchUK's call for a Dementia Medicines Taskforce.
Today marks the start of #CarersWeek2022!
Carer’s have, and continue to, work tirelessly to provide support to loved ones throughout our community.
I want to sincerely thank all the carers in the constituency for their compassion, dedication and commitment to helping others.
May Monthly Update below:
38 years after the death of SNP deputy leader Willie McRae a fatal accident enquiry still remains refused
The death was sudden suspicious and unexplained.
I call upon the Lord advocate to start inquiry into the death of Willie McRae
If you agree please RT and show your support

I have written to the Chancellor on behalf of my constituents in Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock on the urgent need to protect the banking and cash networks for the many who still rely upon it.
I will continue to campaign to prevent any further bank closures:
'Its achievements have largely been overlooked by the Scottish media, seeing little coverage while the TV and press have focused on a small number of high-profile failures' // @allandoransMP
By defeating #Malaria we will strengthen our health systems and create a world that is safer for everyone. A successful @GlobalFund replenishment this year will bring us one step closer to #ZeroMalaria. @FCDOGovUK https://bit.ly/3lFuKql
