Huge congratulations to @RichardFoordLD, and well done to everyone who helped with this historic victory 🎉

We're going to have to take (yet another) up-to-date Parliamentary group photo 😉 📸

This #RefugeeWeek I urged the government to iron out problems in the Homes for Ukraine scheme that have delayed the applications of children and families. We must not allow vulnerable children to be left stranded while their applications are held up by unnecessary bureaucracy.

Today I presented the Chalk Streams (Protection) Bill. Globally rare Chalk Streams, including the Misbourne & Chess, are under threat. My Bill would give them an enhanced status to ensure they're protected from pollution, over-abstraction & other forms of environmental damage.

🚨RAIL STRIKE🚨
Strike action is expected on National Rail on 21st, 23rd and 25th June, and on London Underground on 21st June. Disruption is expected throughout the week on both Metropolitan Line and Chiltern Railways Services serving local stations. (1/3)

Today marks a year since my election as MP for Chesham and Amersham. I wanted to thank everyone for their support over the past year. I will keep doing my best every day to be a champion for local people in Parliament.

The planned wave of industrial action next week will wreak havoc for those who rely on the railways.
Yesterday, I called on the government to get back around the table with the RMT to prevent these strikes.

5 years on from the terrible tragedy at Grenfell Tower, my thoughts are with the families and friends of the 72 individuals who lost their lives that day. As we remember their loss, we must ensure lessons are learned and steps are taken to prevent this from happening again.

It was great to speak to Lucy from @CarersBucks today about the amazing work the organisation does to support local carers. This #CarersWeek I want to thank anyone caring for a loved one - often without proper breaks or recognition. Let's make caring visible, valued & supported!

Bryon, our champion packer, demonstrated how the process works during @SarahGreenLD visit last year.
Having volunteered for Workaid for an astounding 22 years, he is undoubtedly an expert at ensuring your donations arrive safely in Africa in top-notch condition. #VolunteersWeek

This #VolunteersWeek I want to thank the many selfless individuals across our community who dedicate so much time and effort to helping others. The last 2 years have showcased the vital and often life-changing work you do - Thank You!

Thoroughly enjoyed this afternoon’s Street Party in Chalfont St Giles! It was tough choosing the ‘best dressed table’ alongside my co-Judge Barbara given the effort and creativity on display. Thank you to the Chalfont St Giles events committee for organising such a great event.

It was an honour to open the Great Missenden village fete this afternoon - and the weather cleared up in time for the dog show!

Thank you to the Great Missenden Village Association and all the volunteers for making it such a success.

I was pleased to join the Bishop of Buckingham & the Lord Lieutenant for Buckinghamshire in a Service of Thanksgiving for the Platinum Jubilee yesterday. Thanks to the organisers for ensuring that so many communities from across Buckinghamshire were represented.

This Lyme Disease Awareness Month I am encouraging everyone to #WakeUpToLyme. As we head out to enjoy the beautiful British countryside, it is important that we are all ‘tick aware’. Here are some of @UKLyme's top tips for protecting yourselves from tick bites.

⚠️ Road Hazard ⚠️ Delays

A355 between Amersham and Beaconsfield.

There is a shed load of mud, chalk and other debris along the whole route making the road surface hazardous.

Please DRIVE SLOWLY and take care along this route.

Contractors are on scene at this time

I had a great time visiting Chalfont St Peter Community Library to celebrate their 10th Anniversary at the weekend! I was pleased to present the prizes to the winners of the children’s writing competition and to spend some time chatting with volunteers who run the library.

The government talks of levelling up, yet their plans for this year contain little that would reverse the decline of our local services. There’s also very little action to address the cost of living crisis - but they continue to waste money on HS2

Too many lives are still blighted by discrimination & hatred. Work continues to build a society where everyone is respected & all rights are protected.

We'll always stand against homophobia, biphobia & transphobia wherever it occurs, in the UK or across the world.

When I speak with nurses locally I am always impressed by the way they have risen to the challenge of the last 2 years with poise and determination. I am proud to join @theRCN in celebrating them this #NursesDay.

👏Many congratulations to all the Lib Dems across the country who have secured such a fantastic set of election results 🔶

🗳️Wishing a happy polling day to those standing in local elections! It’s not our turn here in Bucks, but if you live in an area up for election today please go out to vote. Polls are open until 10pm tonight. Local democracy is a vital part of ensuring community voices are heard!

Many have lost faith in the ability of Action Fraud to investigate scamming. It’s clear that we need a new body dedicated to effectively tackling online fraud, not just recording it. Today I asked the government to establish an Online Crime Agency to do just that.

For months Royal Mail service in parts of my constituency has been completely unacceptable. Local people have missed medical appointments and suffered financially, with important letters arriving weeks late. Yesterday I urged Ofcom to hold Royal Mail to account for this failing.

People across our constituency have demonstrated such generosity in wanting to house and help those fleeing Ukraine. Their efforts are at times frustrated by over complicated bureaucracy and last week I urged the Government to speed up the process.

I enjoyed meeting with local farmers and the NFU yesterday to discuss the importance of food security and supporting British farming. They shared their concerns at the mounting financial challenges farmers are facing.

People across our country made devastating sacrifices to follow the laws set by Downing St. Meanwhile, those who set them, broke them. If the Prime Minister has any respect for his office or for the British public, he will go and go now.

BBC Breaking News @BBCBreaking

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Chancellor Rishi Sunak will be fined over Downing Street lockdown parties https://bbc.in/3riG3ry

Today is #WorldParkinsonsDay. 1 in 37 people will be diagnosed with this progressive condition. In March I was pleased to speak with members of this community about the experience of having or caring for someone with Parkinson’s. #LetsTalkAboutParkinsons

❗️MET LINE EMERGENCY TIMETABLE❗️
After discovering faults on some trains, TfL are inspecting the Met Line fleet. As a result, trains from Chesham and Amersham stations will run every 30 mins. Check your journey before travelling: https://tfl.gov.uk/plan-a-journey/

Thank you to the residents of Amersham Old Town for electing Elizabeth Shepherd as your new Liberal Democrat Town Councillor.

I'm delighted she won and I look forward to working with her on issues affecting the town.

🗳️ Today is polling day in Amersham Old Town, to elect a new Town Councillor.

The Liberal Democrat candidate is Elizabeth Shepherd who I know will work hard for local residents. You can vote any time before 10pm today and you do not need your polling card to vote.

Last week I called on the Government to afford special protections to chalk streams. Over abstraction, sewage dumping, and other factors have left these globally rare rivers are under threat. Now more than ever, we must do all we can to protect them.

Good to meet @TomBeeeston and @DrElaineKing today to hear about plans to improve flow and youth group access to the river at Chesham Moor.

#chalkstreams

Our local train services are disrupted this weekend. No Northbound Met Line services beyond Northwood and no Chiltern Railways services either.

Bus replacement services will be operating. The timetable is below.

(Thanks so much to Chesham TUG for passing on the info and image)

I know many of you are worried about increased energy bills. Please see this advice from @MoneySavingExp to ensure you’re not charged for more than you’ve used on the higher rate - he recommends sending a meter reading to suppliers on March 31st (tomorrow).https://www.theguardian.com/money/2022/mar/25/energy-bills-read-meter-31-march-prices-rise
