The Liberal Democrats have made political history with this stunning victory in Tiverton and Honiton.

I'm delighted that @RichardFoordLD will be joining us as our 14th MP. He’s going to be a brilliant local champion for the people of Devon.

"If Conservative MPs don't wake up, I think the voters will send them packing."

Lib Dem leader Sir @EdwardJDavey says people were "angry on the doorsteps, and I share that anger".

Liberal Democrats WIN Tiverton and Honiton.

Congratulations @RichardFoordLD.

Devon has spoken for the country: The public is sick of Boris Johnson’s lies and law-breaking and it’s time for Conservative MPs to finally do the right thing and sack him.

As polls close in Devon I want to say thank you. To our brilliant candidate @RichardFoordLD, to our fantastic campaign team, members and volunteers, and to everyone who has opened their doors to talk over the past few weeks.

More and more people in Devon are backing @RichardFoordLD because they are fed up Boris Johnson’s lies and neglect.

We could be on the verge of a historic victory, but it is now neck and neck between the Liberal Democrats and the Conservatives. Every vote will count tomorrow.

Six years ago Jo Cox was murdered while doing her job and representing her constituents.

Today I am holding Jo's friends and family in my thoughts and reflecting on her words: β€œWe are far more united and have far more in common than that which divides us.”

Why are they laughing?! I put Β£20 of petrol in my car for the second time this week yesterday and it got me 10litres. I’m driving left, right and centre covering a by-election for a seat they want to hold onto and they have the audacity to laugh πŸ™ƒ I can barely afford to eat man https://twitter.com/PoliticsJOE_UK/status/1537042337356034050

Tory MPs mock a question about rural poverty in England

@EdwardJDavey | #PMQs

It tells you everything you need to know that Tory MPs laughed and jeered today at #PMQs while people across Devon are suffering.

Boris Johnson’s Conservatives are failing families and pensioners in rural communities who need action now to tackle the cost of living emergency.

We will never forget the 72 lives tragically lost at Grenfell. So it’s shameful that, five years on, the big changes needed to stop it happening again simply haven't happened.

A public inquiry into the Government’s handling of this building safety crisis is long overdue.

Today Boris Johnson apparently visited Tiverton and Honiton but seems to have done no media and spoken to very few voters. He is treating Devon and the country with utter contempt.

I want to say thank you to all the unpaid carers across our country. But we need to do far more to make caring in this country visible, valued and supported.

Congratulations to Christian McBride and the team @genuinesol for what they have accomplished over the past 10 years and becoming a certified B Corp. Bold and innovative ideas, such as the recovery and redistribution of phones, are needed to tackle the climate emergency.

It is shameful the Conservatives have ignored concerns of local communities & given the green light to oil + gas drilling in Surrey hills.

Gove must reconsider this reckless decision. It risks irreparable damage to our countryside and undermines efforts on the climate emergency.

We’re at the #CarersWeek parliamentary drop-in event today!

@EdwardJDavey and other MPs have been hearing from carers and our team about the challenges unpaid carers are currently facing.

After months of defending the indefensible, Conservative MPs had a golden opportunity to finally put an end to Johnson’s sorry premiership.

Instead they doubled down, narrowly choosing to put the career of a lying lawbreaker over the good of the country.

Liberal Democrats are tabling a motion of no confidence in the Prime Minister so Parliament can finally put an end to this sorry mess.

The lying lawbreaker is barely clinging on.

Every Conservative MP with a shred of decency must back our motion and give Boris Johnson the sack.

Every Conservative MP who cares about integrity and decency must do the right thing, resign the whip and sit as an independent.

For the sake of our country, this failing Prime Minister cannot be propped up any longer

It’s judgement day for Conservative MPs and their sleaze-ridden Prime Minister.

If they fail to sack Boris Johnson, it will be an insult to all those who made sacrifices and suffered while he partied.

One of the particular joys of any royal Jubilee is seeing it bring us together. In every corner of our country, communities will be coming together this weekend - extra special, given we couldn't gather during COVID.

I hope we can share in the joy and festivities - together.

I would like to pay tribute to Her Majesty's remarkable reign which has been the bedrock of our country for the past 70 years.

The Queen has led our country through both good and challenging times, and for that we owe Her Majesty a great gratitude.

It’s now seven years since we lost Charles Kennedy.

A tireless campaigner, fearless leader and great friend, Charles had a way of connecting with people and a talent for rising above political point-scoring.

His loss is felt by our party and our politics.

Met with sister #LibDem party in #UK. Thank you @LaylaMoran, @EdDavey1 for supporting #Ukraine.

Three key points critically needed now:
- #MLRS 270 - to push πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§government to give us those
- no-visas for #Ukrainians
- help to unblock our ports

Sunak's like a thief who steals your car and then wants you to be grateful when he returns the steering wheel.

The British people won't fall for the Sunak Scam. They need a tax cut now to put food on the table, heat their homes and fill up their cars

Boris Johnson held goodbye drinks in Number 10, while families couldn't even say goodbye to their loved ones. For him to now claim it was "his duty" to attend these rule-breaking parties is a sickening new low.

The Sue Gray report lays bare the shocking failures of leadership by Boris Johnson and shows why he's not fit to lead our country.

Any other PM would be forced to resign by a report as damaging as this, yet still Conservative MPs defend Johnson and allow him to cling on.

The energy price cap rise is absolutely terrifying. It's a serious national emergency pushing millions into poverty.

Meanwhile the Conservatives are spending the week trying to save Boris Johnson’s job.

Now we discover Boris Johnson not only broke the law and lied about it, but tried to hide the whole Sue Gray report. Yet Tory MPs still continue to let him stay in Number 10. They are taking the British people for fools.

The Lib Dems have tabled a motion in Parliament today to force Boris Johnson to publish the minutes of his meeting with Sue Gray. A Downing Street stitch-up would be an insult to the British public.

It was a privilege to visit Devon today and announce @RichardFoordLD as the Liberal Democrat candidate for Tiverton and Honiton.

Richard is an incredible candidate, whose dedication to others has shone not only through his career but also in his voluntary roles in the community.

I was proud to serve my country in the Armed Forces for ten years and now want to serve my community in Westminster. We need politicians who listen to the needs of local people and work tirelessly to deliver for our area. 🧡 1/5

Boris Johnson’s Downing Street was fined more times for breaking Covid laws than any other address in the country.

The full Sue Gray report should now be published without delay.

The public made huge sacrifices while Boris Johnson partied, they deserve the full truth.

On the same day we find out families face the biggest cost of living crunch in 40 years, Conservative MPs have voted against an emergency tax cut.

People won’t forgive the Conservatives for refusing to help in their time of need.

The Lib Dems have secured a vote tonight to cut VAT to save families money in the shops and at the fuel pump. Conservative MPs must seize this chance to vote for an emergency tax cut.

We can't wait a day longer to put money back into people's pockets.

Families and pensioners on the brink need saving today but this Conservative government is nowhere to be found.

We need an emergency VAT cut now to slash prices at the till and fuel pump today.

The warning lights are all flashing red and Boris Johnson hasn't a second to lose.

Boris Johnson stood up in Parliament and said Covid rules were followed in Number 10 at all times.

Now a shocking 100 fines have been issued by the police over partygate. It shows the scale of the law-breaking in Johnson's Downing Street and the extent of his lies.

Yesterday’s results were a historic moment.

I'm incredibly proud of all our new councillors, and of the tireless efforts of our members, supporters, candidates and campaigners who went above and beyond to make it happen. Thank you.

Thank you to everyone who has been out and voted Liberal Democrat today.
And thank you to all the Liberal Democrat members, supporters, volunteers and candidates who have campaigned so hard over the past few months.

There is still time to vote Liberal Democrat today - polls close at 10pm.

Back the Liberal Democrats today to elect a strong local champion who will work hard for your community.

Boris Johnson's refusal to tax the record profits of energy companies like Shell is completely unforgivable when people are too terrified to heat their homes.

Today send the Conservatives a message they can't ignore. Vote Liberal Democrat.

Polls are now open for the local elections.
Vote Liberal Democrat today to send Boris Johnson and the Conservatives a message that you won’t be taken for granted.

It’s been a privilege to meet people right across Britain over the past weeks and to listen to your concerns. Tomorrow is your chance to vote and have your say.

Thank you to all the Liberal Democrat candidates and volunteers in this election, working hard for every vote.
