Ministers performed a screeching U-Turn on Schools Bill today, scrapping 24 pages of sweeping powers. They should come back with a Bill that'd truly transform our schools โ investing in mental health, extending free school meals and helping children to recover from lost learning.

I was a @metpoliceuk officer for over 30 years.
I am appalled the litany of failings identified by @HMICFRS.
Iโm angry that so many honest, decent police officers have been failed by a minority of their colleagues & by their chief officers who have not addressed these failings.

To clarify, I & Lib Dems have not and will not call for strikes to be broken by the army. We have called for Govt to get round the table with unions and employers for a resolution. We have said if rail strikes continue, contingencies may need to be made for emergency workers.
Is it @LibDems policy to use the army to break strikes? Not very liberal or democratic! Our senior assistant general secretary Eddie Dempsey is right to say this would amount to โa war on workers.โ
