A fantastic, festive Friday! First stop the Edinburgh West Delivery Office to thank everyone for their hard work, then I played the part of a "wise person" in the East Craig's walking nativity, topped off with a delicious Christmas cupcake from Sweet Bella's #edinburghchristmas

It is shocking that the Labour Party would ignore the advice of an independent ombudsman who says that the WASPI women should receive compensation. I spoke on @BBCScotland today about this and the other recent failures of the Labour Government.

Violence against women and girls takes many forms, but as technology continues to advance, we must be aware of the threat posed by online abuse. I asked how non-consensual intimate image abuse will be tackled by this Government:

Today's shameful decision to refuse thousands of WASPI women like my constituent Helen compensation for the DWP's errors is another mistake that will erode pensioners' trust in this Government.

I am disappointed the Minister could not reassure postal workers in Edinburgh West that the new ownership of Royal Mail wonโ€™t put more jobs - and the service my constituents deserve - at risk.

In my column for @TheScotsman, I urge the UK Government to help build the best possible future for Syria, and the refugees who fled Assadโ€™s brutal regime. Read more here:

The Government must continue to take firm action against any attempts by the Chinese Government to influence or undermine politics and democracy in the United Kingdom.

โ€œYou sat here and argued about strikes. People want to see the NHS workingโ€

Lib Dem Christine Jardine says โ€œdepoliticisingโ€ the NHS is crucial to improving the UK health care system

I am delighted that the first report of the new @Commonswomequ Committee into womenโ€™s reproductive health has been published. This is a vital step towards tackling medical misogyny faced by too many women.

The parental leave system needs to be reassessed, with improved pay, greater flexibility, and better public awareness around the complexity of some people's situations, particularly those with multiple births.

In Edinburgh, many families who send their children to independent schools can barely afford to do so. I urged the Government to rethink their plans to add VAT to school fees:

The state of global insecurity that we live in today means that the Government must look seriously at improving our defence capabilities. Hear what I said on @BBCScotland today:

Spiking can take many forms, but it is important to know the signs.

If you think you have been spiked, alert a trusted friend or bar staff and ring NHS 24 on 111. Also consider reporting to the police as soon as you can. As always, ring 999 if urgent medical care is needed.

Limiting firework noise could help make our communities safer, and reduce distress caused to animals like Roxy, the red panda kit at Edinburgh Zoo who died because of the stress of excessive noise and light from fireworks.

I have launched a survey for small business owners in Edinburgh West and have been delivering them around the local area. If you haven't yet received one, please email me at christine.jardine.mp@parliament.uk, and we'll get one to you as soon as possible.

It was great to visit Christmas Fayres across Edinburgh West this weekend. I enjoyed meeting constituents and seeing the festive cheer in the community.

We must focus on improving education for young people to eradicate sexism in all of its forms. Read my column in @TheScotsman this week to read why:

Liberal Democrats totally condemn Iranโ€™s attacks on Israel. My thoughts are with all innocent civilians - in Israel and across the whole region - who are sheltering tonight.

The UK Government must do all it can to help bring the region back from the brink of all out war.

I reflect on the vital role of parliamentary committees in shaping Scotland's futureโ€”from the potential for the space industry to transparency in salmon farming. This can only happen if we are presented with the truth so we can be informed.

This was a busy week in the constituency. Here are some of the things I have been up to.

In my latest The Scotsman column, I explore the change in British politics and why the Liberal Democrats are taking centre stage as the true opposition. Catch up on my thoughts here ๐Ÿ‘‡ #Opinion

This week has been a whirlwind, balancing the @LibDems conference and Edinburgh West but always engaging with the pressing issues that matter to you. Here are some of the things I have been up to this week.

The NHS needs our help. It's time for Scotland to face this reality, work cross-party and act now to protect it beforeย it'sย tooย late. Read my latest opinion piece in @TheScotsman ๐Ÿ‘‡

Hundreds of Lib Dem members met outside Conference today to show their support for @LGBTLD and reaffirm our commitment to supporting trans rights and the whole community

Pleased to sit on a fantastic panel with @dignityindying on how securing a change in the law so everyone has a choice at the end of their lives.

Earlier this week I met some tireless WASPI campaigners who are still fighting for justice for 1950s women. I am pleased to back their calls for fair compensation for every woman affected.

Biodiversity net gain has a key role to play in tackling the nature crisis we face. The Government must tackle the loopholes in the system to make all new developments greener and cleaner.

It's time for concerted action from both Westminster and Holyrood to create designated sites for the travelling community and protect local residents.

Thousands of pensioners in #EdinburghWest now face another difficult winter thanks to the appalling cuts Labour will make to the winter fuel payment.

I am pleased to see Ministers recognise the serious problems we have in Scotland with drug-related deaths. I look forward to seeing more detail on their plans and discussing how we can save more lives in future with the UK Government.

Great to hear about the Breaking Down Barriers to Employment Opportunity report today and hear about the amazing work of The Wise Group and the Purpose Coalition in providing skills support and mentorship.

With budget negotiations around the corner, the future of John Swinneyโ€™s Government now rests with opposition MPs. Read more in my column in the @TheScotsman:

"The only disappointment about this season is that there are only six, tension-packed and emotional, episodes."

I was disappointed that the Prime Minister did not say how he would make sure VAT on independent school fees in Scotland could be invested back into Scottish schools. Pupils, parents and teachers in state schools across #EdinburghWest deserve clarity on the impact of his plans.

I want the Government to support vital sectors for economic growth in Scotland, like hospitality and tourism. I hope Ministers will work with me for the benefit of these key businesses across #Edinburgh

There could be an unexpected hat in the ring when the Tories begin to choose their new leader.

So looking forward to Chariots of Fire on @BBCTwo this afternoon. So appropriate on Centenary of Eric Liddell winning in Paris and perfect scene setter for. #OlympicGames

This is the end of a busy week in Parliament and Edinburgh West. Here are some of the things I have been up to
#ThisWeekWithChristine #EdinburghWest

This week, I urged the new Secretary of State for Work and Pensions to honour the Ombudsman's recommendations and provide compensation for #WASPI Women. #Justice

Families across #EdinburghWest need suitable homes with proper infrastructure, if we are to properly tackle the housing crisis. I hope Labourโ€™s plans for planning will address these concerns fully.

I am so sorry to see #garethsouthgate resign. He transformed the England team and, perhaps because of how we felt for him in '96, made even Scots like me want them to win. He's created a foundation and will be a hard act to follow. Good luck Gareth.

The assassination attempt on Donald Trump this weekend reminded us all of the unacceptable violence creeping into our Politics. It is up to us all individually to ensure we don't encourage it.
