In the West Midlands, only 2.8% of all reported violence against women result in a charge or conviction.

There needs to be more focus on putting…

Today in the House of Commons, I urged the Government to suspend the UK-Israel trade envoy and to push for Israel to be expelled as a member state from the UN.

The war crimes in Gaza must stop and aid must reach the Palestinians immediately.

Smaller housebuilders play a crucial role in our journey to get Britain building.

Today, we're backing them - by making the system simpler, fairer and more cost effective, for all.

I was glad to attend the launch of @DiabetesUK’s 10-Year Vision for Diabetes Prevention, Treatment and Care in Parliament this week.

1 in 5 adults in the UK are now living with diabetes or pre-diabetes.

It is important that the Government’s 10-Year Health Plan delivers…

Today in Parliament, I asked the Minister if the Government will take the right step of sanctioning Israel for its blockage of basic and necessary aid into Gaza.

The situation in Gaza is disastrous. Palestinians are starving with children dying of hunger.

The international…

On International Nurses Day, we want to pay tribute to those working on the frontline of our NHS.

Today, Labour has announced we are legally protecting the job title ‘Nurse’ to keep patients safe and to show nurses the respect they deserve.

Thank you for all you do.

I was glad to attend an event with Bridging Brains over the weekend, who were celebrating the launch of their website.

They have been doing an excellent job in Birmingham to help unlock the potential of neurodivergent children through skill based activities.

Please have a look…

In Parliament today, I asked a question to Minister Falconer about the missile attack by India on Pakistan and Azad Kashmir.

The situation is volatile and needs to de-escalate. The focus must be on a permanent and lasting solution for Kashmir.

The Kashmiris must be granted…

✅ 1,500 new GPs recruited
✅ £889million investment in GP services
✅ £102million to upgrade GP practices

This Labour government will make sure you can get an appointment when you need one.

Today in the House of Commons, I spoke about the urgent need for a clear and credible roadmap for peace in Yemen.

Twenty-two million people in Yemen rely on humanitarian aid - half of them are children. This is one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises.

The UK must do more…

Today I urged the government to clearly set out the timeline for when Palestine will be recognised as a state.

We need to move past vague promises and see real action on the recognition of Palestine.

There will not be a two-state solution until the international community…

Through our Plan for Change, we are driving down the cost of school uniforms 👔

I wholeheartedly condemn the heinous attack that took place this week near Pahalgam, in Indian-occupied Jammu & Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 innocent people.

My thoughts are with the victims, their families, and all those affected by this senseless act of violence.…

I was glad to attend an event by The Children’s Society for the launch of their report ‘A chance at childhood’ and hear from young people about their experiences.

Around 4.3 million children live in poverty in the UK. It is crucial that we get these children access to support…

This report poses some important questions. We need to understand why it's so expensive and lengthy to deliver new trams.

We need better connectivity in the West Midlands and breaking down some of the barriers to infrastructure delivery will help us.

We are delivering the biggest upgrade to rights at work for a generation and we will Make Work Pay.

🧵on our work on b’ham city council quoted in the FT today. Key takeaways:

🔺the bankruptcy was triggered on the wrong basis
🔺This had disastrous effects as unnecessary cuts & asset sales were rushed through
🔺Another recovery plan is still possible

Michael Gove's rushed statutory intervention is having a devastating impact on Birmingham’s public services.

The full story must come out, and I will be urging the new Govt to carefully consider the findings & recommendations of this important report.

Celebration party for @TahirAliMP, thank you to Muhammad Ayyub MBE and Saeed Mughal MBE for organising this event with many distinguised guests including Pir Syed Manawar Hussain Shah Jamati and Pakistan Consulate General Kamran Malik.

Over 14 years, the Tories baked inequalities into our education system. Gaps have widened across regions & social class.

Labour’s mission is to ensure background is no barrier to getting on in life, so where you’re from doesn’t determine where you end up.

Thank you @TahirAliMP for signing the letter of concern on behalf of our members employed by Churchill Group across the Parliamentary Estate, (Signature no. 115).

Thank you to the police who have been working so hard to protect and support our communities in recent days, and who will continue to do so.

📺 @DianaJohnsonMP

Today's figures reveal that NHS waiting lists grew again in June to 7.62 million.

14 years of Conservative neglect left the NHS broken, waiting lists rising, and patients failed.

Never again should the Conservatives be trusted with our health service.

As the Mayor and Police and Crime Commissioner, we are committed to working hand-in-hand to address the recent violence which has impacted our community so greatly.

Read a joint statement from myself and @SimonFosterPCC, West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner.

This is not protest, it is pure violence.

We will have a standing army of public duty officers.

We will ramp up criminal justice.

We will apply criminal law online as well as offline.

We will not tolerate attacks on mosques or on Muslim communities.

The far-right have resorted to violence & thuggery to intimidate us.

It is vital that our communities do not respond by stooping to their level.

We must rise above violence, intimidation & thuggery. Instead we must respond with dignity, solidarity & compassion.

Criminal violence and thuggery on our streets will not be tolerated.

Police forces have my full support in ensuring that those who engage in criminal disorder face the strongest possible penalties.

I utterly condemn the far-right thuggery we have seen this weekend.

Be in no doubt: those who have participated in this violence will face the full force of the law.

Pleased to join @AngelaRayner & @labourunionsuk’s #NewDealForWorkingPeople rally yesterday evening.

We need a Labour Government to deliver on our promises to working people in our country.

We already have public ownership of energy in this country, just by foreign governments.

Labour believes that the British people should profit from the abundant energy our natural resources create.

That's why we will set up Great British Energy.

The deadline to register to vote is midnight tonight.

If you aren't registered, please be sure to get this done today so you can vote for #change on the 4th July.

Another fantastic evening of canvassing in Kings Heath last night.

Thanks to all the volunteers who came along.

Eid Mubarak to all those celebrating.

Wishing you all a peaceful and joyous time.

Let us keep all the less fortunate in our thoughts and in our prayers.
