Amazing Salford Pink Picnic 2022 in Peel Park today with @SalfordLabour Huge proud Salford vibes. Well done @salfordprideuk volunteers, sponsors and of course the star studded acts for putting on another belter!

It was an honour to attend the #ArmedForcesDay parade in Salford today to celebrate the special service our UK Forces personnel, veterans, and their families give to our country and to the city of Salford.

UK households pay £2.7bn, £94 each, for privatization of the energy sector.
Covers the cost of switching from failed energy companies & recovery of credit balances owed to customers, which are not ring-fenced.
Would not be needed in a nationalized network.

This White Paper I published 2 years ago is still @UKLabour's blueprint for bringing our railways back into public ownership.

If this plan was implemented, the railway would work for passengers, staff & taxpayers, rather than profit.

We Own It @We_OwnIt

🚆 Mick Lynch is absolutely right. Rail privatisation has been a disaster for everybody except the shareholders whose pockets it has lined.

It's time to bring the WHOLE railway into public hands!

It was great to speak to some amazing young people from the North West in Parliament today to hear their experiences and calls to reform and improve the care system. @barnardos #ItsOurCare

Many Salford residents are struggling to access an NHS dentist. Govt cut NHS dental budgets by 1/4 between 2010 and 2020 and failed to reform the dysfunctional contracts system. It’s not on, we need urgent action.

I was out on the picket line at Victoria Station in London this morning in with @RMTunion workers and Socialist Campaign Group colleagues. Solidarity to all on strike today. All they want is fair pay and to protect jobs and services ✊

Thanks to a lot of campaigning from residents, @SalfordUnison, @salford_mayor & @LabourEccles Monica Court has been saved!

This is what it truly means to be Labour - politicians fighting side by side with trade unions & the community for what’s right ✊

1/2 Rail strikes are about plans to axe thousands of jobs, attack pay & conditions & real term pay cuts over a long period. All rail workers ask is for no compulsory redundancies, wages to be protected against the cost of living crisis & negotiation on terms & conditions.

Dr Enid Noronha hosted @NGSOpenGardens for Salford Families in need Meals Project - we will receive £600 & have now more than smashed our original £30k target. A deep thank you & to our supporters Julie Larkinson @KeeleyMP @RLong_Bailey @GlynYOGIPotts @MarsdentTom @mrsunsworth35

So honoured to attend Salford Refugee Forum’s amazing event celebrating refugee week. From inspirational speeches to beautiful dancing, today’s event demonstrates the kindness and compassion Salford has as a City of Sanctuary that cares for all in our communities #RefugeesWelcome

Huge thanks to #M3Perform for fundraising for life saving defibrillators for venues across Salford. Thanks for presenting this one to Critchley Community Hub yesterday. Thanks all who joined us @AgeUKSalford Local Councillors @StuDickman, @Cammell4Swinton and Heather Fletcher.

Beyond excited to announce that The Dirty Old Town Distillery, our new home, is now officially open.
Thanks to
for doing the honours.
Rum Experience now live on our website 👆link in bio
#salford #distillery #rum #spicedrum

🧵 1/4 Thank you James and Tommy @SalfordRum for inviting me to officially open The Dirty Old Town Distillery, in their amazingly refurbished railway arch on Viaduct St. Can’t wait to come back and try your Rum Experience soon!🍹

🧵 1/2 Tonight Salford Cllrs & @salford_mayor have met with residents & relatives of Monica Court & Astley Court after plans for moving residents out were announced by @ForHousing. Whilst I couldn’t be there in person I’ve written to residents to share my support to save them.

📢ANNOUNCING: The Momentum Organisers📢

After 2 years of defeat, Momentum must be laser-focused on power & a plan to win it.

These socialists have organised & won in communities, workplaces and for the Labour Left. Now, they're running to put Momentum back on the front foot💪

Today I read out a letter to the Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum calling for higher taxes on the super rich to address gross inequality. Wasn’t from a social justice movement, nor even a was from a group of millionaires @PatMillsUK @Mills4Humanity

5 years since the tragedy of Grenfell where 72 people lost their lives, and with thousands of people across the country still living in fear in unsafe homes, we must continue to fight for justice for the victims of Grenfell, to ensure it never happens again. #ForeverInOurHearts

1/6 Today my constituent Laura, her Grandad John and other Nuclear testing veteran families along with myself, Sir John Hayes and Susie Boniface finally met the PM in their long fight for recognition and justice.

Finally nuclear testing veterans get one step closer to receiving the recognition and support they deserve as my constituent, her grandad and testing veteran’s families met the PM today with myself, Sir John Hayes and Susie Boniface.

People with disabilities face serious disadvantages when trying to access work & in the workplace. Huge congrats to @UNISONdm and the team for creating the Disability Employment Charter. This is something Govt must support.

🚴The Swinton Greenway is reopening on Saturday!🚴

Watch a go-pro video of the upgraded route below and find out more about the near £6m upgrade of the path between Swinton and Monton here -

@OfficialTfGM @salford_mayor @HealthySalford @salfordyouth1

Cutting hundreds of station staff jobs will make our railway less safe, secure and accessible. Solidarity with @RMTunion members today

Wishing everyone across Salford and beyond a brilliant Jubilee weekend! Thanks to Her Majesty The Queen, the first Monarch in British history to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, for her 70 years of service.

1/2 Lovely visiting @larkhillprimary today to see amazing pupils and staff in their Jubilee assembly. It was an honour to present Anika age 8 with a prize and cheque for her school from @hillresidential after winning their Jubilee sign competition with her totally amazing picture

Good to see a windfall tax finally! But sadly the wider package of economic support offered by Gov today is nowhere near enough to keep many afloat in these difficult times

The Public Order Bill contains a selection box of draconian and anti-democratic measures. It has no place in a functioning democracy and must be scrapped.

Today we remember the victims of the Manchester Arena bombing. All our love and thoughts are with their families and loved ones.

Our new polling with @Survation shows that Red Wall voters OVERWHELMINGLY support public ownership.

🚊 Rail: 68%
💧 Water: 70%
💡 Energy: 68%
🏥 NHS: 80%
📮 Royal Mail: 68%
🚍 Buses: 67%

Brilliant to be part of @KeyCities "Future Skills For Cities" conference yesterday alongside some amazing speakers. Some great discussions on how to develop strategy to skill workforces and communities and ensure the benefits of a green economic recovery can be felt by everyone.

1/ After speaking with @BowelCancerUK and some of my wonderful constituents, I wrote to the Health Secretary last week to ask him to support their calls to improve early diagnosis and treatment to fight bowel cancer.

I just voted for an emergency budget to tackle the cost of living crisis and help those struggling. The Tories voted it down…..

Thank you @RLong_Bailey Labour MP for Salford and Eccles for your support for our campaign for #fairandfastcompensation.

Gov are blinkered, offering nothing but right wing ideological whims, as communities suffer a cost of living crisis. Sitting back & refusing a windfall tax to ease bills as oil & gas companies make record profits! Even the CBI & Sir John Major agree we need an emergency budget!

Lovely to visit the @ChildrensAirAmb store in Salford last week, and hear about the work they’re doing to raise funds for such an important charity that works tirelessly to transfer medical teams and children across the UK to receive vital treatment.

With the cost of living crisis getting worse, the Govt’s Household Support Fund is failing to help those most in need. The £500m doesn’t go far enough when demand is spiking and Universal Credit has been effectively cut.

1/3 Along with @Laboureccles and @swintonlabour it was lovely to visit the ‘a View from the North’ exhibition of photographs by the award winning guardian photojournalist Denis Thorpe upstairs in the the amazing @MontonPalate with brilliant poetry from @PoetThirsty @mattconz1

⏰🎬 Starting now 🎬⏰

Our exclusive interview with @RLong_Bailey on the #QueensSpeech and government inaction over the #costofliving and #energycrisis📣🚨

Tune in here 👇

1/3 It was a real pleasure to visit the frankly inspirational staff and students at Chatsworth Futures college for young adults with learning disabilities based in Swinton. It's clear they are doing something very special there and the amazing students are testament to this.

Great to host event in Parliament last night with CEO of @Talktalk Tristia Harrison and staff from HQ in Salford. Brilliant to hear of their dedication to Salford & to unlocking local talent, ensuring the creation of local jobs, apprenticeships and training schemes for staff.

After two years of a pandemic that left so many in our communities lonely & isolated, this #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek encourages us to do what we can to tackle loneliness, and reconnect with friends & family, to show there’s always someone to talk to

Great chatting with residents tonight with brilliant Labour candidate Roseanna Wain in Blackfriars and Trinity. Less than 2 hours left to #votelabour
