Theresa May suggests Boris Johnson has lost his authority with world leaders.
"As I discovered after I faced a no confidence vote, they then start to ask themselves, is it really worth negotiating with these people because will they actually be there for any period of time?"
Just now Theresa May gave this devastating assessment of the NI Protocol Bill:
'I asked myself three questions:
•Is it legal?
•Will it achieve its aims?
•Does it maintain the standing of the UK in the eyes of the world?
The answer to all three questions is no'
He’s right though #ToryLawbreakers
Conservative MP Simon Hoare says that if a Labour government were planning to break international law as the Northern Ireland Protocol Bill does they would all accuse them of "not being fit for government."
"For a Tory to have to point this out to fellow Tories is shameful."
Scoundrel more like in this instance #ToryLawbreakers
Liz Truss asked why she is bringing forward a bill that breaks international law, replies that it's because she's "a patriot"
Very proud to take my seat in Parliament earlier today.
Thank you to the people of
Wakefield for the trust you have placed in me to
be your MP.
I will be your voice in
Westminster and challenge this Government
to get a better deal for Wakefield.
Very bad form. @trussliz just left the chamber without listening to even two other speeches. Her bill gives enormous powers to the government without reference to parliament and she can’t even be bothered to listen to parliament
What a week that was! So proud and privileged to call this man my friend. The weight of our fan base was on his shoulders but the manner in which he dealt with it will live with me forever. @spiritofshankly and our fan base are lucky to have him at the helm ✊ YNWA
2010 Conservatives formed a ConDem coalition Government with Lib Dems
2017 Conservatives did a £1bn Bung Parliament deal for DUP votes
2019 Conservatives benefited from Farage’s Brexit Party withdrawing in all Tory seats
Remind me again which party relies on pacts and deals?
Today, on #ArmedForcesDay we thank our Armed Forces for keeping us safe and for their service on the front line.
A Labour government would make sure our veterans get a better deal with fair access to the housing and the services they deserve.
Britain’s armed forces are the best in the world — today, on #ArmedForcesDay, we thank both those serving and our veterans for their service.
"If they had any decency they would get out the way for the next Labour government."

‘Someone has to take responsibility’ Oliver Dowden resigning as Tory Chair - after a lifetime of avoiding it Boris Johnson will not - will his colleagues finally have the guts to rid the country of this of this pathetic narcissist?
Either that or trying to facilitate PMs destruction (& going before he was pushed in PMs upcoming “blame somebody else” reshuffle…) #ResignJohnson #ToriesUnfitToGovern
🪣 Quitting Conservative chair Oliver Dowden’s carrying the can for Johnson when lost Wakefield and Tiverton were crushing mini-referendums on the lying lawbreaker.
Incredibly proud of the brilliant @simonlightwood - Labour MP for Wakefield.
The biggest ever majority on the current boundaries.
This historic result shows the progress we’ve made towards forming the next Labour government.
Well said @simonlightwood Time for #LiarJohnson & authoritarian #Tories to go #ToriesUnfitToGovern
"We are rebuilding that red wall."
Labour's Simon Lightwood who won the Wakefield by-election, says the party's victory highlights how people are "demanding change".

So proud of Wakefield’s new MP, the fantastic @simonlightwood.
This was @UKLabour’s biggest victory here since we were last in government.
This decisive result shows Labour is winning the trust of the British people, and firmly on the path to power.
Well done @simonlightwood & @UKLabour
Labour's Simon Lightwood wins Wakefield by-election - piling pressure on Boris Johnson
Congratulations to @simonlightwood!

Boris Johnson opens his speech to the Commonwealth Business Forum by claiming it’s hotter in London than Kigali today
That’s a “yes but we don’t like the results” then
Boris Johnson’s spokesman unable to say whether the government has conducted any economic assesment of the impact of Brexit.
With the eyes of the country on Wakefield, a defeat for the Conservatives here could boot Boris Johnson out of Downing Street.
Today is a once in a lifetime opportunity. The power is in your hands. Use your vote. Vote Labour.
Today, once again people will be left without travel to work, school, or hospital appointments.
All because the Tory government couldn’t be bothered to hold any talks to resolve the strike.
Polls are open. Today is the day!
Your vote could boot Boris out of Downing St and deliver a fresh start for Wakefield.
Don’t miss your chance.
Polls are open until 10pm and you don’t need your polling card or ID to vote.

Merseyrail is a devolved train operator and does not have to involve the Department for Transport in its handling of negotiations
Amazing what can be achieved when the government isn't in the way
Tomorrow, your vote could boot Boris Johnson out of Downing Street and deliver a fresh start for Wakefield.
Use your vote. Vote Labour.
Boris Johnson says the Conservative government has presided over a "reduction in the cost of [public] transport."
Here's how transport costs have changed over the past ten years. #pmqs

Typical #Tory behaviour, unfortunately
Yesterday I raised serious concerns about access to GPs and NHS dentists in our city. The Minister used her response to score cheap political points with false information. I've asked her to correct the record and focus on the job. Portsmouth deserves better from this Government
Thousands of holiday flights cancelled.
People unable to renew their passports.
Biggest rail strike in a generation.
The Tories simply aren’t doing their job.
The Prime Minister’s answer to my question could not have been clearer. Much like his answers on #PartyGate. And PPE contracts. And proroguing Parliament. Watch this space 👀 #PMQs
Judges, enemies of the people. Lawyers, friends of the people traffickers and illegal immigrants. Human rights, unnecessary protections for foreign criminals. Government systematically destroying or undermining our most basic constitutional protections. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2022/06/21/new-bill-rights-gives-britain-power-overrule-european-judges/
Under the Conservatives, working people are facing a nightmare summer of travel chaos.
Ministers are failing Afghans who supported our Armed Forces.
With only 2 out of 3,000 cases processed in two months, the Government is simply not dealing with ARAP applications fast enough. Ministers must fix this scheme.
Today’s rail strike is disrupting the lives of people across the country.
The Tory government didn’t spend a single second in talks to avoid it.
This afternoon, I will be reintroducing my Public Advocate (No.2) Bill into the @HouseofCommons It has been introduced into the @UKHouseofLords by Lord Michael Wills. Govt could accept it as learning some lessons of #Hillsborough

Thank you for providing a backdrop for my vanity videographers to make a nice slomo movie about me which doesn’t even mention that I am a lying lawbreaker who has failed to deliver on the promises I made to 🇬🇧people when I conned them into Brexit and making me PM https://twitter.com/BorisJohnson/status/1538153683493478401
Thank you my friend President @ZelenskyyUa for hosting me in Ukraine yesterday.
It was incredibly moving to walk the streets of Kyiv with you once more, to pay tribute to your fallen soldiers whose sacrifice, unconquerable courage and bravery we will never forget.
PM lies about everything, disreputable man. #ResignJohnson
A year ago Boris Johnson promised to share 100 million surplus vaccines with the world’s poorest countries.
A year later: barely a third have been delivered, he has cut the aid budget to do it, and profiteered at poor countries’ expense.

The most shocking interview I’ve seen this week. Watch this and tell me you don’t think the Prime Minister & his Attorney General should both be thrown from office immediately

@meaglemp @david_conn @LFC Having largely been silenced between 2013 and 2021, we still await
- the IOPC report, nearly 10 years after HIP reported
- to add insult, the permanent archive for the disaster is still offline a year after Merseyside MPs wrote to government & were promised reinstatement https://twitter.com/joe_thomas18/status/1402945202990600198
Robert Buckland, QC, says he will work with @Alison_McGovern to ensure archive of documents linked to Hillsborough tragedy and its aftermath is returned to public domain - having been taken down while criminal proceedings were active. Crucial G'ment is held to this commitment https://twitter.com/joe_thomas18/status/1402937905232990210
@meaglemp @david_conn @LFC LJ Taylor managed to get his interim report published, including going through the Salmon process, in just four months in 1989.
The IOPC have had over a year since the trials now, plus nine years to prepare, and still no firm date
