Low paid workers and families in Nottingham are being pushed into severe hardship, and even homelessness, because Government support isn’t keeping pace with sky-high rent hikes. Listening to Mark Spencer’s reply it’s clear the Tories just don’t get it. #CostOfLivingCrisis
Tory Ministers & MPs trying to silence women for pointing out their appalling record on convicting rapists, is as low as it gets.
The only people who should apologise for the failure to prosecute criminals and failure to give victims justice is this Government. #VAWG
Fantastic news, congratulations Year 4!
Our Year 4s came third place in a national competition about Human Rights. We all agree that education is a fundamental human right! Well done Year 4! @LouRegan1 @TransformTrust @LilianGreenwood @SSFoundation

For the third time this week, people are having their lives disrupted by the rail strike that Grant Shapps and the Tory government did nothing to avoid.
Tonight I was privileged to be at @djanoglyacademy presenting awards to this remarkable group of young people - recognising and celebrating their work to support @Framework_HA. Thank you for inviting me to be part of an inspiring evening.
Such wise words. Women’s right to control their own bodies was hard won, we aren’t about to give up.
My thoughts on the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
Sir Robert spent the rest of this interview wriggling and jiggling about whether Boris Johnson should remain Prime Minister. Courage is a fine attribute in politics, but sadly there was none on display from South Swindon’s MP today. https://twitter.com/SkyNews/status/1540240332620693506
Tory MP Sir @RobertBuckland says the by-election defeats are a “perfect storm” including the cost of living crisis and confidence in Boris Johnson’s leadership.

Wakefield will have an outstanding advocate in @simonlightwood. Many congratulations Simon, see you on Monday!
Congratulations to @simonlightwood!
The new Labour MP for Wakefield. 🌹
With one of my favourite future candidates @HajiraPiranie and friends 🙂
With my favourite @LilianGreenwood in #Wakefield ❤️🌹
🍦 Ice-cream break! #Wakefield #GOTV
Nottingham South’s Tiger Squad are in Wakefield to support the brilliant @simonlightwood - I wonder why they sent us to meet voters in this block?! #PollingDay with @Angharad4Labour, @jacob_collier_ and Eunice Regan
Ministers have done nothing to try to reach a deal. Useless
Today, once again people will be left without travel to work, school, or hospital appointments.
All because the Tory government couldn’t be bothered to hold any talks to resolve the strike.
Polls are open. Today is the day!
Your vote could boot Boris out of Downing St and deliver a fresh start for Wakefield.
Don’t miss your chance.
Polls are open until 10pm and you don’t need your polling card or ID to vote.
Find your polling station: https://iwillvote.org.uk.
Sorry I couldn’t be in Nottingham for today’s civic celebration of #WindrushDay. Our city owes a great deal to those who came to rebuild Britain and made Nottingham their home. Appalling that victims of the scandal are still waiting for justice.
Today, Wednesday 22 June is #WindrushDay. #Nottingham is proud to be flying the Windrush Flag from the Council House and lighting up the Council tonight to mark the day.
Thousands of holiday flights cancelled.
People unable to renew their passports.
Biggest rail strike in a generation.
The Tories simply aren’t doing their job.
I’m sure all of us want to see paddling back at the Victoria Embankment. The Council are seeking views on what facilities people want to see. Whether you’d prefer a traditional paddling pool, splash park or other water play, have your say here: https://online1.snapsurveys.com/bdq8
Thank you for all you do to ensure that Nottingham is a welcoming city to those fleeing conflict or persecution.
Today is #WorldRefugeeDay
We welcome refugees and asylum seekers to Nottingham & Nottinghamshire, and continue to be inspired by their courage and resilience. #refugeeswelcome ❤️
Nominations are closed!
Thank you so much to all the CLPs, Young Labour groups, trade unions and affiliates who have endorsed me for NEC Youth Rep! #Elsie4NEC 🌹
I preferred yesterday’s weather! Thanks to the team out with me, @Khan4Wollaton (who missed the photo - sorry!) and @Angharad4Labour in Wollaton West this afternoon. Residents happy about Seaford Park refurb, worried by speeding and keen for me to “get rid of Boris Johnson”
Last week I went to visit Nottingham’s new(ish) Job Centre on Castle Boulevard. Thanks to Tim and Graham and all the staff supporting people to get into work and for your insights into the challenges jobseekers face.
If you get chance, this looks brutal but essential viewing @hostiledoc + Q&A 20th June @BroadwayCinema
A BAFTA-Longlisted film.

Tens of thousands of rail workers kept our country going during the pandemic.
They and millions of key workers like them want fair pay and respect.
The govt owes it to them and the country to show some responsibility and settle this dispute.
Unacceptable. What does this say about the Government’s commitment to social mobility?
Govt support for the poorest university students will fall to lowest level for 7 yrs next year. Yet:
• 75% of students are worried about managing financially
• 25% have LESS than £50 a month to live on after rent and bills
• 5% are using food banks
We've had a fantastic day teaching BSL and deaf awareness to MPs. It's great to see MPs engage with BSL and learn more about Deaf culture.💚
She knows her own mind, is kind and inclusive, works incredibly hard for her union @GMB_union and for @UKLabour and has a track record of making a difference. Proud of you @elsieortong
So thrilled to have the support of my union @GMB_union in my campaign to be the youth rep on Labour’s NEC!
GMB continue to deliver landmark victories for workers across the UK and I look forward to working with them if elected onto the NEC.
Helping constituents with problems is an important part of an MP’s job. Great to hear from a family who had waited 14 weeks for their daughter’s passport that they were finally able to collect it yesterday ahead of their holiday tomorrow. Glad to be able to help #BacklogBritain
Thanks to clean champion volunteer residents, City Council Street Scene staff & Nottingham City Homes for joining me and @Angharad4Labour on our day of action at Cliff Road and Shortwood Close today.
Could you be #Nottingham’s next street art pioneer?
The Island Quarter @IslandQuarter has launched a competition to give local artists the chance for their work to take centre stage around the site

Out in Radford this morning with a team of @ng_labour volunteers including @Angharad4Labour and @liaqatali700. Residents told us they’re worried about rising prices and bills but know that @UKLabour is #OnYourSide
Lovely to be out on Friday with @MeadowsCllrMike, @Angharad4Labour and our team of volunteers, welcoming new residents to the #Meadows and listening to the views of people living near the Meadowlands festival site. #LabourDoorstep @ng_labour
Glad to join @LilianGreenwood and @NadiaWhittomeMP showing support for Stand With Hong Kong this afternoon in Nottingham & to speak & express solidarity with the people of Hong Kong.
A pleasure to visit @muslimhandsuk Open Kitchen on Mansfield Road last Friday - working in partnership with @FareShareUK to provide free hot meals and groceries to anyone in need. With the rising cost of living this service is a lifeline for many people.
We need more than a sticking plaster approach to the structural problems in our economy.
That's why this weekend I'm talking about Labour's plan for a stronger economy, and what we need to do now so that we don't just lurch from crisis to crisis. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2022/06/11/tories-have-sticking-plaster-approach-public-finances-warns/
Here are the first 64 patchwork blocks all sewn together! These patchwork blocks are being pieced together to create a lasting textile memorial of the Pandemic that represents the multitude of experiences within Parliament whilst also demonstrating unity through a single quilt.
Equally delighted Ogmore CLP nominated @elsieortong for NEC Youth Rep. Brilliant, hard working, with endless energy, she’ll work tirelessly for young members, and fight every day for a UK Labour government.
After 12 years of failure, the Tories have no plan to fix the housing crisis.
Labour would prioritise first time buyers, empower leaseholders and build genuinely affordable homes.
