What an inspirational woman. Another reminder to take nothing for granted, to live life to the full and love those around you with everything you have.

⚽ It was a pleasure to welcome Sports Minister @HuddlestonNigel to the Hawthorns last week.

From supplying food packages during lockdown to inspiring younger generations through education, the Minister saw the great work that the @WBAFoundation do across West Bromwich East.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ Our brave Armed Forces are the finest in the world.

Today, on Armed Forces Day, and always, we remember their sacrifice and pay tribute to them for all they do to keep us safe. πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

𝐉𝐔𝐒𝐓 π€πππŽπ”ππ‚π„πƒ: We’ve introduced a new British Bill of Rights to Parliament, delivering on our manifesto commitment to overhaul the Human Rights Act.

This Bill will strengthen rights to freedom of speech, and make it difficult for criminals to appeal deportation.

Today marks 6 years since we voted to break free from the shackles of a bloated and beaurocratic European Union.

And 6 years on, we’re making the most of it: 70 new trade deals; control of our waters; and a Β£4.8bn levelling-up fund - just a few of our achievements so far.

On Friday, I was delighted to finally visit the @YCA in West Bromwich where I conducted a constituency surgery. Thank you to Ragih Muflihi for making me feel so welcome during my visit and showing me around the centre which is a real hub of the community.

The @KuumbaF are today hosting a Caribbean fundraising bake sell to mark Windrush day! Get yourself down there between 11am and 3pm and help the Sandwell African Caribbean Mental Health Foundation celebrate.

The Police can only stop crime in West Bromwich if they know about it.

That’s why it’s vital for you to report crime when it happens, either by calling 101 or 999 in an emergency.

Please help us to stamp out crime in West Bromwich. #ReportItStopIt

One of the best parts of my job is meeting constituents, and it’s always great to see them outside of West Brom too, today in Westminster. I was delighted Jason came down today to watch Prime Minister's Questions and we had the chance to show him around the Palace.

The Labour leader just told the PM that a Tory MP called him the β€œConservative Corbyn”.
Wait till he finds out about this guy called Keir Starmer who said: β€œI’m 100 per cent behind Jeremy Corbyn. I am working with Jeremy Corbyn to try to win the next general election”

Today is Elder #AbuseAwarenessDay and I am backing @age_uk Sandwell’s call to raise awareness and help stamp out abuse of older people.

After meeting recently with Iryna, a young member of the European Solidarity Party in Ukraine, and hearing of the sacrifices being made by young Ukrainians, I asked the Secretary of State for Defence, @BWallaceMP, what more we can do to support all young people in the πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ army.

Yesterday I had a really positive meeting with Minister Jo Churchill MP (Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs) and Mark Pawsey MP about new recycling and packaging legislation we’re bringing in.

Very disappointing @RMTunion are taking action that could damage the rail network after taxpayers contributed Β£16bn, Β£600 per household, to keep jobs during Covid. We're working with industry to reduce disruption caused by strikes but urge unions to come to talks with employers.

Today marks 78 years since D-Day.

My Grandad arrived in Normandy with the 79th Armoured Division a few days after the D-Day landings began.

We can only imagine how terrifying it must have been for the soldiers as they waited on the landing crafts to storm the beaches.

For 70 years, Her Majesty has been a shining light of dignity and grace, guiding us through the best and darkest periods. The commitment Her Majesty has shown to our nation can never be matched. For this, she will always have our respect and thanks. Happy Platinum Jubilee!

OFFICE CLOSED

My office is now closed for the Platinum Jubilee and will reopen on Monday 6th June. Any emails will be responded to after this date.

Happy Jubilee and have a great long weekend!

The BID team have been busy today walking round the BID area with @Nicola4WBE

Nicola has been our judge for The Queens Jubilee Window Dressing Competiton. Big thank you

We have seen 98 businesses who was involved and we will announce the winners tomorrow. Good luck everyone

I had the most fantastic time yesterday walking round our great town centre and judging the fantastic Jubilee displays with @WestBromwichTC . They were all amazing and judging was not easy! The BID will announce the winner I’ve chosen later today.

If a cabinet member needs to pay another councillor an extra salary to help them do their jobs, perhaps they aren’t fit for governing.

Another year, another waste of taxpayers money.

I know our communities are struggling with rising prices in our supermarkets, at petrol stations and energy bills.

So I’m really pleased that today the Chancellor @RishiSunak has introduced help with πŸ‘‡

BREAKING: Today we’ve barred Russia’s flagship carrier Aeroflot, alongside Rossiya & Ural Airlines from benefiting from their landing slots, worth up to Β£50m, at any UK airport. As we take over the @ITF_Forum Presidency, we'll continue to punish Putin

Was a pleasure to join @Battersea_ yesterday. They do fantastic work and I’m particularly interested in using our rent reform to ensure pet owners have a fairer deal in the rental sector - leading to far less animals being given up. Also ensuring the Kept Animals Bill is passed.

Unemployment is down by 1,435 in West Bromwich East vs last year. While this is great news, the overall rate of unemployment in WBE is still above the national average (6.9% vs 4%). I will continue working hard pushing for more investment and better opportunities for all in WBE.

Lies, disinformation and the distortion of history have been weaponised by the Russian government in its war on Ukraine.

It has attempted to justify its actions using baseless claims of β€œde-nazifying" Ukraine.

@KarenPollock100 @HolocaustUK explains why this is so damaging πŸ‘‡

It was a pleasure to meet @GylesB1 today to be interviewed about being a young female MP. What an honour !

Ps. I did ask where his funky jumper was.

I'm back in Westminster today for the Queen's speech. It's time to refocus, boost the economy and help those struggling with the cost of living.

Wishing a safe and joyous Eid Mubarak to all those observing across West Bromwich, Great Barr and Friar Park.

Tonight marks Yom HaShoah, the Jewish day of remembrance for the victims of the Holocaust. I've lit this #yellowcandleuk in memory of Liza Bilyk of Gritsev who was murdered at Starokonstantinov in 1942, aged just 8.

May her memory be a blessing.

I'm proud to have voted for this important legislation.

Here's how the Nationality and Borders Bill is going to help us take back control of our immigration and asylum system πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡

I’m pleased we’ve taken steps to help people with their rising energy costs. But I’m disappointed Sandwell Council are making it so difficult for the 50,000 people who do not pay via Direct Debit to receive their rebate.

I'm delighted that pubs and bars will be allowed to stay open until 1am as part of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

A great opportunity to support all of the amazing pubs and bars we have in West Bromwich East! πŸ»πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§
