Incredibly sad news that David Trimble has died. A brilliant statesman and dedicated public servant, his legacy as an architect of the Good Friday Agreement will live on forever. The people of the UK owe him an immense debt of gratitude for all he achieved for our Union.

After five rounds of voting in Parliament, the Conservative Party now have two brilliant candidates in Rishi Sunak and Liz Truss. The decision on the next leader now goes to the party membership and a new Prime Minister will be in place by September.

I am pleased to support this new law, which will ensure that all tips go to staff by making it illegal for businesses to hold back service charges from their employees. This overhaul of tipping practices, once in law, is set to benefit around 2 million UK workers. @dean4watford

Today, on the 40th anniversary of the end of the Falklands Conflict, we remember the 255 members of service personnel who died to protect the sovereignty of the Falkland Islands.


The Messenger Review into leadership across health and social care found that in addition to workforce pressures and a lack of development support, there continues to exist discrimination, bullying and blame cultures, with NHS staff remaining uncomfortable speaking up.

Our National Security must be maintained against all threats whether from hostile states, cyber attack, espionage, fraud or intellectual property theft. It is right that our legislation should also consider how we protect whistleblowers who act in the Public Interest.

Most heart attacks happen in a community setting and so it was fitting to open our latest local defibrillator on a Cheadle high Street!

Yesterday's £37bn package of support will ensure that millions of households get the targeted help that they need, dealing with the cost of living and helping people with their bills.

Alongside my residents across Cheadle I expect the new Lib Dem administration leading Stockport Council to deliver on election promises including the protection of our Greenbelt and ensuring our parks and green spaces are kept safe for people to enjoy.
