1/4 The opportunity to represent the people of South Staffordshire is one of the greatest privileges of my life, and I so much hope that I have the opportunity to represent them for many many more years to come.

Good luck today to @StJohns_Eagle and @CodsallMiddlePE who are competing in the @PLCommunities finals at Watford today! Both teams are representing Wolves today with St John's competing in the Girls Club Finals and Codsall Middle in the Mixed Tournament Finals. #PLPrimaryStars

Very important step forward taken by @FinGovernment today which builds on the success of the British led Northern Group, their existing partnership with NATO, and the new security declaration made between the UK and Finland earlier this week.

A pleasure to welcome South Staffordshire businesses The Country Rose and Hygenica to Parliament today for the Staffordshire Day reception. Our county has such a wonderful tradition of enterprise and it is fantastic to see it so alive and well today. #StaffordshireDay

It was a privilege to host a meeting in Parliament yesterday for Somalilanders to update MPs following the recent devastating fire in Hargeisa. Some incredibly powerful speeches about the loss felt by Somalilanders and the role the UK and others can play to help them recover.

Heart-wrenching to hear about the devastating fire in #Hargeisa. I have been in touch with @BorisJohnson and @trussliz, and spoken with @vickyford this morning. They are going to be issuing an alert to the global response centre.

We are so fortunate to have miles of amazing waterways running through South Staffordshire. As such, I am delighted that @veoliaenvtrust have awarded Β£45,000 to @CanalRiverTrust to fund vital repairs to the towpath in Brewood and ensure that it can be enjoyed for years to come.

I have called on Nadine Dorries to update the criteria for awarding a Platinum Jubilee Medal to ensure that all air ambulance staff are eligible for the award. Technicalities should not prevent the fantastic air ambulance community from receiving the recognition they deserve.

(1/3) I warmly welcome the #SpringStatement2022 given by the Chancellor today and know that many families in South Staffordshire will be glad to hear about the 5p fuel duty cut and the raising of the National Insurance threshold to Β£12,570.

It was terrific to visit Lane Green First School and to speak to the children's eco-committee about their suggestions to help with the climate crisis. Their passion for the environment was inspiring, as was all the donations that they have collected to help the people of Ukraine.

Fascinating to attend @TheBHF Parliamentary reception recently and to hear more about the amazing advances in research that they have made possible over the last 60 years. I look forward to working with them to #MakeScienceFictionAReality

Congratulations to World Book Day as it celebrates its 25thΒ year encouraging children and young adults to develop a love of reading. May I wish all the best to the many schools in South Staffordshire who are enjoying this wonderful day. #WorldBookDay

Today I signed the Book of Solidarity with Ukraine β€” it is so important for us to demonstrate our continued commitment to their cause. I am proud that the UK has been leading the way with providing support for Ukraine but we must continue to provide more assistance.

So great to be involved with this β€” a big thanks to @bilbrookfriends and all those who do so much to look after Bilbrook.

I have been to Ukraine and seen personally the devastating costs of this conflict inflicted upon the Ukrainian people. The UK and our allies must stand up for tolerance, justice and democracy whenever they are threatened. Ukraine is not alone.

Great to be able to speak to Emily and Maddie and listen to some of their concerns about vaccine equity. Britain has already been leading the way in mass vaccination at home and abroad, but it is right to ask the question: can more be done?

Very delighted to receive @GavinWilliamson and his delegation members today in Hargeisa.

We are thankful for their unwavering, bold support and solidarity with our democracy and Somaliland's right to sovereignty.

People of Hargeisa, representing all Somaliland citizens, exuberantly welcomed @GavinWilliamson and his delegation members at the heart of Hargeisa. We are people who honour everyone who values our aspirations and nationhood.

The President of the Republic of Somaliland, H.E. Muse Bihi Abdi, warmly received UK Parliamentarians led by @GavinWilliamson in Hargeisa. His Excellency, the President of the Republic, eulogized their heroic support for the independence of Somaliland.

Today I had the pleasure of visiting Midland Cryogenics, a thriving small business near Coven. They have become a world leader in cryogenics supplying multinational companies from Rolls Royce to Heineken, and carrying out projects throughout the globe, from Norway to Algeria.

As the Holocaust fades from living memory, it is our duty to remember the victims and survivors of genocide to make sure that History never repeats itself.

This #HolocaustMemorialDay as I sign the Book of Commitment I pledge to stand up to prejudice and hate.

Working with Alan White, leader of @StaffordshireCC , to promote Staffordshire Day and the County's Strategic Plan for 2022. This year we are looking to bring in even more visitors to enjoy all the great attractions that our county has to offer.

Thank you very much @GavinWilliamson for your support to the Republic of Somaliland, and presenting our legal, moral and humanitarian case to the House of Commons as well as the International Community. I hope your fellow MPs would understand our quest for recognition. πŸ™

Looking forward to attend @GavinWilliamson debate later on #Somaliland as one of V/Chairs of APPG & with powerful constituency history.

Fond memories of visit to #Hargeisa + many meetings with friends in #Cardiff #Westminster - great to have cross-party interest in #Somaliland

Thank you @GavinWilliamson for your consistent and continues support to Somaliland. We will all turn in, and waving you from Somaliland. Thank you for taking somaliland cause . We are indeed very proud to have you as a friend.#Somaliland

Tomorrow on Jan 18th @GavinWilliamson will be leading a debate on the recognition of #Somaliland. And I will be celebrating it as if it was May 18th. πŸ₯³

"The @somalilandmfa is aware of the adjournment debate on the 18th of January at the UK Parliament regarding Somaliland recognition. The MFA urges Somalilanders in the UK to get in touch with their respective MPs" Says Somaliland Foreign Ministry.

Somalilanders in UK, please be involved:
1. Find your MP:

2. EMAIL THEM to inform them of the debate happening in 18 January and to request they make interventions in support of Somaliland.
3. Please share with as many people and retweet!

Delighted to hear @veoliaenvtrust has awarded Β£75,000 from the #LCF to Bilbrook Parish Council to install new play equipment, gates, fencing and safe play surface at Joeys Land Play Park in Bilbrook creating a new safe place for children and families to play and socialise.

It was a real honour to join Dr Edna Adan and Dr Essa Kayd to talk about UK’s relationship with Somaliland and how we need to recognise Somaliland independence. #somaliland

Today I placed a tribute in the Garden of Remembrance for the brave men and women of South Staffordshire who heroically fought to defend our way of life and protect our freedoms.

Our soldiers will never be forgotten.

We were delighted to meet with local MP @GavinWilliamson at Kinver Edge recently for a walk around this very special part of South Staffordshire. Great to discuss the key part Kinver Edge plays in @nationaltrust's wider work on nature-based solutions to climate change.

Thanks to @GavinWilliamson for opening our Digital Skills Centre at #Tamworth & it was great to hear from our local MP @ChrisPincher πŸ’»πŸŽ‰ this was part-funded with Β£550,375 through the @StokeStaffsLEP from the #GettingBuildingFund #midlandsengine ➑

It has been a privilege to serve as Education Secretary since 2019. Despite the challenges of the global pandemic, I’m particularly proud of the transformational reforms I’ve led in Post 16 education: in further education colleges, our Skills agenda, apprenticeships and more.

It was inspiring to see pupils returning to class at Malcolm Arnold Academy in Northampton - the start of a new academic year is always full of hope and excitement and it was great to see everyone back in class enjoying school life.
