🗣️When ambition on net zero is met with action people experience huge benefits. Today's @theCCCuk report is clear; we must do more to achieve net zero by 2050.

Looking forward to taking part in several events on 7 July both online and in person for #NetZeroWeek https://twitter.com/netzeroweek/status/1542146110797520896

🇬🇧3 years ago net zero by 2050 became law in the UK.

❌Today the @theCCCuk is clear that current government policies will not deliver net zero.

🌎The longer we wait to decarbonise, the higher the economic, social and environmental costs will be. We must act on net zero now. https://twitter.com/EnvironmentAPPG/status/1541454730077020160

I spoke in Parliament earlier this week about why the Government should prioritise a national roll out of soft plastic recycling across the country. Thanks to @LukeHall for calling the debate and his campaign on this.

Great to speak as Chair @EnvironmentAPPG on how to build support for the energy transition, industrial decarbonisation and #NetZero at the Climate Innovation Forum 2022 today as part of @london_climate week @Climate_Action_

✍️Since the UK made net zero law three years ago around 90% of the earth’s surface is now under a net zero target of some sort.

Three years on, #NetZero is still the right direction for the U.K.- bringing inward investment and the opportunity for regional regeneration and a new economy. My piece in @CapX

The Racial Disparity Audit conducted by the government in 2018/19 demonstrated that black and ethic minority students with equal A level grades to white students perform 18 points below the average at degree level. This inequality needs to be tackled- not treated as a culture war

Chris Skidmore's book on Richard III is very good at cutting through the politics of the reign. So not good or bad, but able and bright and ruthless, and very bad at building a long term power block and planning ahead.
It kinda does make Richard seem a bit Gordon Browny.

It's 3 years since the UK enshrined net zero into law.

We know there is vast room for debate on how to get there, but what we also know is that 2050 is the very latest we should get to net zero by. Great to see so many politicians come out in support of #NetZeroDay. https://twitter.com/EnvironmentAPPG/status/1541454730077020160

On this day in 2019, the UK became the first major economy to enshrine its net zero by 2050 target into law 🇬🇧🌍

🗣 CEN MP @CSkidmoreUK: "As the then Minister for Energy and Clean Growth, I was proud to sign that legislation because net zero is above all a conservative mission."

Happy #NetZeroDay

Three years ago today the U.K. became the first G7 country to legislate for net zero carbon dioxide emissions by 2050

When it comes to #NetZero, @Conservatives need to learn lessons from Australia, says @CSkidmoreUK

📍 Recent Aus election should be shot across the bows for Conservatives

📍 Net zero is not simply a cost, but an investment in the future

Thanks to @CFMSuk for inviting me to their offices in @bbsciencepark to discuss digital innovation to help deliver Net Zero- modelling net zero flight, ultra-low energy systems and decarbonising data centres- while increasing productivity through innovation #netzeronetbenefit

Great to visit Gregor Heating today to discuss local uptake of heat pumps and solar- and improving access to renewable heating supplies. Huge demand locally for renewable sources of energy to deliver lower bills #netzeronetgain

With a million species facing extinction - we need #COP15 to be a globally important moment #ForNatue the same way that Paris was for Net Zero.

🗣Renewable energy and a low, zero carbon future are exactly compatible with energy security.

🗣Abandoning net zero will do nothing to enhance our #EnergySecurity. Scaling up home grown, clean energy is what will tackle climate change and help with the cost of living.

- @DefraGovUK Minister, @GregHands at @EnvironmentAPPG today👇

"We need to recognise the shift to net zero for what it is, the greatest investment opportunity of this century."
