What has Pete Wishart been up to today?
Pete Wishart is MP for Perth and North Perthshire and a member of the Scottish National Party party.
Pete Wishart has 56788 followers on Twitter.
Just opened my Blue Sky account. Let's get back to how we were before the Trumpists came. Follow me on the other side.
Fantastic. Well done Scotland. We all knew it was coming......
The reason people are 'desperate' to get off Twitter is that it is increasingly the exclusive domain of Trumpists, Musk fans and vile haters like Wings Over Scotland. Most people are concluding that we should maybe just leave this space to them...
After a spate of issues involving private car parking cowboys in Perth we successfully secured a new parking code of practice. It is therefore disappointing that these companies continue to heap misery on my constituents. Will be taking up with UKPC.
My Perthshire Advertiser column. The first Labour budget in 14 years fails to deliver for Perth and Kinross. Businesses, farmers and families will lose out. Labour also continue the tradition of the Tories in ignoring Perth in Levelling Up Funding.
Fantastic visit to the Glenturret Distillery. New to my constituency and looking forward to working with them.
Inside the Indyref branch meeting number 12. Grateful to Carnoustie SNP for hosting a fantastic conversation with @StephenGethins and I.
So far since taking power the new Labour Government have picked fights with pensioners, large poor families, small businesses and farmers. Way to go Labour.....
Stephen Gethins and I tonight in Carnoustie talking all things indyref and the way forward for the movement. You can buy the definitive account of the Indyref here. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Inside-Indyref-Pete-Wishart/dp/1804251682?dplnkId=cf17394c-fe5a-4546-9541-9a757276d280&nodl=1

Another clip from yesterday. We actually got a vote on the right of Church of England Bishops to determine the laws of the country. The great reformers on the Labour Party voted to retain them.
Yesterday I secured an amendment to get rid of the donors from the House of Lords. After Cash for Honours and the concerns about buying influence in our politics I thought it would be supported. They don't even allow me a vote on it.....
Just one clip on the hereditaries bill. They want thanked for finally getting rid of the aristocrats from our legislature. Something that should have happened centuries ago. I remind them of their historic commitment to actually abolish the Lords. Think you'll like it....
We're on to the 'Hereditaries' Bill. I've got amendments on the Donors and appointed Cronies up for debate. They wouldn't take my amendment on insisting that Lords pay tax. You don't automatically get a vote in this place but hoping that we can at least get a vote on the donors.
Looks like we're not getting our British 'envoy' after all. A nation will be inconsolable.....
Who sort of suspects a Johnson/Cummings sort of conclusion to this particular relationship? The fall out, when it comes, could be quite hilarious in a world ending sort of way.....
Sums up my own thoughts entirely. Rarely on it anymore but won't be pushed off by the current owner and his legions.
Throughout the noughties I supported the Collinson's attempts to unravel what happened at Deepcut and I still remain suspicious with all the reassurances and remain deeply concerned at what happened. Still hope Yvonne and Jim get justice.
Wait till you see the rest of my amendments tomorrow. I can't abolish the Lords in this particular Bill but I can abolish its membership...... We'll start with the donors and the appointed cronies and work downwards. Scottish Labour will of course support me!!!?
They get £342 per day just for turning up but don't pay one penny of tax. If they paid their share it would cover the winter fuel allowance for Scotland's pensioners. Tomorrow I will bring amendments to make them pay as well as abolishing the whole circus.
Every year there are fewer veterans left who experienced WW2. As well as remembering the fallen we will thank the survivors. 'The Old Boys are Leaving'.
A couple of extracts from my book on the last few days before the referendum. "This is a campaign that now belongs to the communities and people of Scotland and it has assumed a personality of its own". The energy and excitement was like nothing else.
It's not going away and remains unresolved. The campaign for Scottish independence remains deeply ingrained in our national psyche and is beyond everyday political discourse. It will have its say and it will prevail.
But somehow we are 'too wee, poor and stupid' to survive as an independent nation without the largesse and generosity of the UK.
Out with our fantastic Perth City North by-election candidate, Carol Mair. You would not believe the anger there is about Labour cutting the winter fuel allowance to pensioners.
From 10 years ago today. We organised a flash mob and an event with Dougie Maclean on Perth High Street. Hundreds of people turned up. It was the best of days.
The simple fact is that the SNP, and all other small parties, are not allowed a place on any select committee in the House for the first time since select committees came into existence. If we get a place it will be because Labour 'gift' us a place.🤷♂️
Fantastic news for Pitlochry. No longer serve this part of Perthshire but will always be a fan of this amazing theatre in the Highlands.
We have 2 by elections in Perth and Kinross. One is in the ward of a new Labour MP and the other is because a Perth councillor was elected as a Labour MP. What do you think an early priority was for them when they got elected? Don't get fooled again......
Fantastic night at the launch of my book. Great turn out at the Royal George.
Tonight in the Royal George, Perth. New territory for me so please be kind.....
Congratulations to @PJFerguson18. It is the best job at Westminster and a real opportunity to conduct vital cross party scrutiny at its very best.
I think Scottish Labour's response to it could kill them. Trying to blame the SNP for their decision to end winter fuel payments is being laughed at by Scottish voters. This is their cut. They have to defend it or they will lose support.
Out today. The definitive account of the indyref chronicling all the twists and turns and ups and downs of the biggest political choice ever presented to the Scottish people. You can order here https://luath.co.uk/products/inside-the-indyref?srsltid=AfmBOopZaC9VwOXVyZuFnDKKvOsPJWB1hywp-oakXw5d8Bu6_jdM1w17 or on Amazon.
I predicted that one of them would try to blame us for forcing them to vote to freeze Scottish pensioners.....
Tomorrow night. The official launch of my book. Some tickets are still available and can be secured at Waterstones in Perth or at my office.
This is truly disastrous for Starmer. I don't think any incoming Government has seen such a catastrophic fall in its approval ratings in such a short time.
Absolutely thrilled to be elected the co-chair of the All Party Music Group. There are big issues to address and an agenda to progress. Looking out for our artists, music workers and fans.
Starmer totally hopeless today. Looking shifty, refusing to answer questions and being skewered by Sunak. He's just not very good at this #PMQs business.
