I know I’m forever banging on about #GlasgowEastLovesLocal but it’s so, so important that we support our small local businesses. That’s why I chose Saltire Flooring in #Shettleston for a recent flooring job at my own house. Need new flooring? Pop in and see Stuart or James.
Say what you like about @David_Cameron’s ‘big society’, @theresa_may’s ‘just about managing’ and even @BorisJohnson’s ‘levelling up’ - they at least pretended to care for the most vulnerable in our society.
Truss and Sunak aren’t even pretending to care for the most vulnerable.
New - @trussliz says tax cuts, not "handouts", are the Tory way to deal with the cost of living crisis. Hits out at "abacus economics" at the Treasury, rules out snap autumn election. @ftweekend interview with @SebastianEPayne

MK Bakes in #Tollcross is one of our newest small businesses here in the East End. Local Cllr Greg Hepburn and I were able to pop along to support Moradeke and her family with this venture. And the cakes were lovely! #GlasgowEastLovesLocal
If you've received this letter from @GlasgowCC it is not a bill! Please don't throw it away!
It contains information about activating the £105 #ScotlandLovesLocal Glasgow Gift Card that we will soon be sending to your home.

It was great to welcome Jamie Hepburn MSP, Minister for Higher Education and Further Education, Youth Employment and Training to the East End last week as we met apprentices working on the new #Parkhead Hub. Thank you to BAM Construction for hosting us.
If @trussliz’s policy was ‘misrepresented’, then why didn’t she just clarify it via her comms? Indeed, why drop the policy in its entirety? 🩴
New print room used for first time printing our new 8s & 10s sponsor logos, thank you to @forgeShopping 👧🏻👏🏻

Liz Truss says she would "just ignore" the democratically-elected leader of the second largest nation in the United Kingdom
Proud to stand in solidarity with BT Openreach workers and @CWUGlasgow @CWUnews members in my constituency this morning.
🧵 Season 2022/23 got underway today (which I’ll track this season via a twitter thread). With @AirdrieoniansFC kicking off the league campaign away from home, up at Peterhead, I decided to take in a local game at home in #Shettleston. @glasgowutdfc 2-0 @g_perthshire.

🏴 Great to be out campaigning in #Carmyle today promoting a Yes vote at #ScotlandsReferendum on 19 October 2023!
Thank you to Bob, Gary, Jen, Calum, Rosie & Jack for giving up their Saturday morning. #indyref2 #ScotRef
🗞 My column in today’s @Glasgow_Times. Starmer’s Labour party is sacking MPs for showing solidarity with trade unions & a poundshop Margaret Thatcher is about to become leader of the Tories.
Thank goodness for @NicolaSturgeon’s leadership when there’s such a vacuum in London.

Great to get out today with local Cllr @lauradohertysnp to clean up part of Easterhill Street in #Tollcross.
We're in the @ForgeMarketLtd come along and get your free uniform
“Labour is becoming more and more irrelevant to ordinary working people who are suffering. Juvenile attacks on trade unionists will do absolutely nothing to further Labour’s prospects for power.” @UniteSharon 3/3
I’ve been out on picket lines with @RMT_Scotland and wouldn’t expect to be thrown under the bus by @theSNP for backing the right of workers who have - a fundamental human right - to withdraw their labour.
Parliament may be in recess but I’m still working away, reporting back to constituents in #FullartonPark with my July newsletter. To sign up for a digital edition, visit http://davidlinden.scot/newsletter 📰
👨🍳 One of the many joys of recess is being back home in Glasgow and having time to cook meals from scratch.
.@trussliz has declared war on the trade union movement and working people.
Let’s be clear, her mad-cap proposals are an attempt to all but ban strike action and outlaw effective trade unions. 1/4
Word of caution to @UKLabour press officers: if your Party Leader is perceived as robotic and boring, it’s probably a ‘courageous’ move to allow him to be interviewed with a backdrop like this… 🙈
To be fair, I feel like I’m fair getting my money’s worth out of my @BBC licence fee tonight. The clips and quotes for leaflets at the next #indyref are…

Excuse me Liz, who was in power when you were growing up in educationally and economically deprived Paisley and Leeds?
Isn’t it amazing listening to @trussliz about all this fiscal headroom (£40bn) the UK now has? Is this the “magic money tree” we are told didn’t exist when the @Conservatives cut Universal Credit for my constituents? 🤨
#BBCOurNextPM
Opposition MPs right now as we watch the @Conservatives knock seven shades of excrement out of each-other for all to see. Fitting that the most dramatic performance should come from the Culture Secretary.
.@trussliz will be travelling the country wearing her earrings which cost circa £4.50 from Claire Accessories. Meanwhile…

Thoroughly enjoyed seeing @PaulHeatonSolo & @jamabing (as well as the Proclaimers) in St Helen’s last night. When I was a wee boy, I used to think this song lyric was Rutherglen, not Rotterdam… 🙈
The campaign for proper paid leave for the parents of premature and sick babies is one close to my heart. Here's why it's so important.

It was good to welcome our First Minister @NicolaSturgeon to #Parkhead this morning.
Another very busy help and advice surgery this morning in #Baillieston. As we head into parliamentary recess, my regular schedule of surgeries is taking a short break but my office is still open and I'm here to help if you need me.
FM @NicolaSturgeon tells me she doesn’t have a preference of who becomes next Prime Minister as both @RishiSunak + @trussliz would be “terrible for Scotland”.
Describes them as “democracy deniers” and “hypocrites” on #IndyRef2 issue.

Today @NicolaSturgeon announced up to £300,000 for money and welfare advice services in some of Scotland's most remote GP practices.
She visited the Forge Medical Practice in Glasgow to hear about their work offering the service since 2021.

🏥£300K @scotgov funding means GP practices in 20 rural + 10 island communities will be able to refer patients to an in-house welfare rights officer.
🗣FM @NicolaSturgeon says that’s needed more than ever amid the cost of living crisis.
Universal Credit overpayments should be 'waived' to help hard-up Scots, insists SNP MP @DavidLinden

The latest instalment of anti-trade union laws from a Westminster Government we didn’t vote for.
#YouYesYet?
Today we changed the law to allow businesses impacted by strike action to hire skilled, temporary workers to mitigate disruption.
This was a criminal offence. Now it’s an option for business.
We will not let trade unions grind our economy to a halt.

And that’s a wrap - just myself and @DavidRutley bringing the curtain down on this session of Parliament before returning in September. We discussed no fault benefit debts, thanks to @CPAGUK’s early warning system,
Many thanks to @eleanor4epping for overseeing the two Davids!
.@DavidLinden is speaking in the House of Commons now about no-fault benefit debts, a really important issue that's come through our #EarlyWarningSystem.
It's #TraumaAwarenessWeek and we know supporting someone who has a premature or sick baby can be difficult. You might not always know what to do or say at what can be a very emotional and stressful time. Visit our website for tips on how you can support https://buff.ly/3IUrJxa

Liz Truss has just become the bookies' favourite to become Britain's next Prime Minister.

Today marks the feast day of St Thenew, also known as St Enoch, the mother of St Mungo.
In early times, a chapel was dedicated to her in what is now St Enoch Sq. St Enoch's Parish Church (shown here) was built on the site c1780, rebuilt in 1827 and demolished in 1925.
Today, Fair Monday, marks the Feast of St Enoch for Glaswegians.
