It was good to meet with Eddlewood Bowling Club today to discuss the pressures that hard working community groups are facing as a result of the cost of living crisis. My office will always be available to help out any community organisations across the constituency. @wsosharpe

This week, the eligibility criteria was extended for Warmer Homes Scotland so that more households can receive support during the cost of living crisis.

I would urge constituents to check if they are eligible and apply for the extra funding if they are.

Thank you to everyone who came along to my surgeries with MSP @TeamStephyMSP , Cllr @ColinDewarSNP and Cllr @CalDemps SNP yesterday.
If you weren't able to make it along but you need help or advice, you can contact my office by email at

Hamilton might be the first place to hold a Mela, Town Market and the first ever Lanarkshire Pride all in one day!!

Well done to Malcolm and all of the team @HamiltonOurTown for pulling off a spectacular day!! πŸ‘πŸ»

As usual… still the smallest person in the crowd!! 🀣

Great to catch-up with Sandra at @LarkhallVolGrp to find out more about ongoing work and how myself, @AngelaCrawley30 and @rossclarksnp can assist.

Was a particular highlight to have lunch from the one and only Mr T and his team at Heart Of Africa UK.

I will be holding joint surgeries on Monday with @AngelaCrawley30 and @StephySNP.

If you stay in Uddingston or Bothwell, please feel free to attend either of these surgeries.

Your MP, MSP and I will be on hand to deal with enquiries at local, Scottish and UK levels.

I will be holding a series of summer surgeries over the next few weeks and today I will be in Carnwath.

Please feel welcome to attend any of the events, but if you can, I would encourage you to book an appointment in advance by contacting me at

Thanks to @emilymorganitv @itvnews for covering my campaign to secure #paidmiscarriageleave
Last week I introduced a Ten Minute Rule Bill; which will receive its second reading on 16 Sept.

🚨 BREAKING: Rishi Sunak and Sajid Javid have resigned from Boris Johnson’s cabinet.

πŸ“’ It’s time Boris Johnson finally realised the party is over.

Please read and share my article on #babyloss published by the @lawsocgazette today. Please encourage your employers to enact this as part of your #parentalleave policy. Let’s make a change and stop the stigma around baby loss @AngelaCrawley30

A week of great #pridemonth events, as I led the #Pride debate in #parliament
With #LGBT+ rights under threat around the world its vital that we continue to stand up, celebrate the progress made and reflect on the work still to do!πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ

🚨 The UK government's policy of sending asylum seekers to Rwanda is abhorrent and inhumane - and it's not in Scotland's name.

❌ Westminster is utterly broken. Let's build a better, welcoming, compassionate system with independence.

#RefugeesWelcome #bbcqt

🚨 Boris Johnson’s ethics advisor has just quit.

❌ Boris Johnnson has now ditched ethics rules from the ministerial code and lost his ethics chief.

🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Scotland can do so much better than this. We can build a greener, fairer, better Scotland with independence.

The figures do speak from themselves, @BorisJohnson. Nations like Denmark, Norway, Iceland and Ireland have:

πŸ‘‰ Greater income equality
πŸ‘‰ Lower poverty rates
πŸ‘‰ Higher productivity

If these countries can do it, #WhyNotScotland? Because we are being held back by Westminster.

'Isn't it the case, Prime Minister, that Scotland can't afford to stay trapped in the failing Westminster system?' asks SNP Westminster Leader Ian Blackford, raising concerns about the economy and the threat of a trade war with the EU.

"Scotland simply can't afford to remain trapped in the failing Westminster system"

The SNP's Ian Blackford tells Boris Johnson the UK's economic outlook, cost of living crisis and Brexit battles strengthen the case for an independent Scotland #PMQs

πŸ“’ Independent countries across Europe are wealthier and fairer than the UK, so #WhyNotScotland?

🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 It is now time to set out and debate the substantive case for Scottish independence.

9️⃣ out of the πŸ”Ÿ countries we examined in this paper were previously part of a larger union or governed by neighbouring countries.

🌍Not a single one has chosen to go back.

🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿It has worked for them it can and will work for Scotland.

πŸ“’ With independence, we can build a fairer, wealthier and more equal Scotland. That is the prize.

🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Scotland deserves the very best, now and for the generations to come, only with the full powers of independence can we secure that future.

🌍 For countries of Scotland's size, independence works.

🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 With the powers of independence, they built happier, fairer and wealthier societies than the UK - so #WhyNotScotland?

πŸ—³οΈ That better country is within our grasp, but only you can make it happen.

We could build a new Scotland.

Wealthier, fairer and happier.

A new series of papers will set out how an independent Scotland could work.

Happy Lanimers evry'budy!
Congratulations Queen Caitlin and Lord Cornet Derek McGuiness.
So proud of Lanark, you were awesome. Enjoy the rest of the festivities! @LanarkLanimers

Views are being sought on two strategic plans that will be key to the services that are delivered across South Lanarkshire. More than 3,300 local people have already taken part in conversations that have led to the creation of a draft new Council Plan and Community Plan.

πŸ“£ @BrendanOHaraMP: "Scotland deserves a better democracy than the charade that is currently being foisted upon us by Westminster."

🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 With independence, we will always get the governments we vote for - not Boris Johnson and the Tories.

πŸ—³οΈ Scotland will have that choice.

πŸ”₯ @Ianblackford_MP eviscerates Boris Johnson after over 40% of Tory MPs vote no confidence in him.

"For Boris Johnson, truth and reality are strangers. The simple fact is, he does not have the support the people of these islands. He should be an ex-Prime Minister."

If you want to see Scotland get the politicians we vote for and the strongest economic recovery, the best way is independence in Europe. Come and be part of it 🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Ί

That result is surely the worst of all worlds for the Tories. But much more importantly: at a time of huge challenge, it saddles the UK with an utterly lame duck PM. And for Scotland, it just underlines the democratic deficit - only 2 of 🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 59 MPs have confidence in the PM.

Jon Sopel @jonsopel

That is a BIG vote against the prime-minister. Anyone who says this over is kidding themselves

🌈 Happy #PrideMonth from all of us at the SNP.

πŸ’› This month, and all year round, let's celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and fight for a more inclusive society that always embraces diversity.

🚨 Boris Johnson must answer questions on the ministerial code after he was fined over #Partygate, UK government ethics adviser has said.

πŸ‘‡ #ICYMI Boris Johnson just changed the ministerial code - allowing ministers to break the rules without resigning.

πŸ“£ The Commissioner for Fair Access hailed @scotgov's higher education policies as an "unambiguous success".

πŸŽ“ We have abolished tuition fees, invested record sums in student support, and record numbers of Scottish students from deprived areas now enrol at university.

According to the Commissioner for Fair Access, the @scotgov approach to widening access to university has been an β€œunambiguous success”.
As a result, Scotland now leads the UK.

πŸ“ˆ Foreign direct investment in Scotland significantly outpaced the UK and Europe in 2021, an @EYNews survey has revealed.

🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 up 14%

I am appalled to hear the truly appalling findings #suegreyreport into lockdown parties at Downing Street.
While my constituents and followed the rules his government set in order to protect lives, the Prime Minister partied as if everything was normal and then lied about it.

The SNP @theSNP

Take responsibility for your law-breaking actions.

@BorisJohnson, resign. #PartyGate

The #SueGrayReport lays bare the scale of rule breaking that @BorisJohnson presided over. Rules that he lied to parliament were followed at all times. A culture of drinking and debauchery in No10, while the rest of us stayed home. His only option should be to resign #PMQs

🚨 While people followed the rules and stayed at home while those nearest and dearest to them were dying, Boris Johnson was surrounded by drink, toasting to a party.

❌ Boris Johnson must resign or be removed from power
