I had the pleasure of joining a judging panel at @Google during their work experience week run in partnership with Camden schools. I was so impressed with the designs for a retail market stall and community space, and thank Google for giving the students this valuable experience!

Delighted to welcome ⁦@Nash_Ali21⁩ as Mayor of Camden this year. I served in his cabinet when I was a Camden councillor and he was Leader. I know he’ll do an excellent job and raise a lot of much needed money for his chosen charity Hopscotch. ⁦@mayorofcamden⁩

The @Conservatives’ leadership candidates trying to outbid each other with anti-refugee policies and rhetoric is shameful.

Britain has a long history of welcoming those fleeing war and persecution. We are so much better than this.

@TulipSiddiq @execpipeline @avivaplc Thank you @execpipeline - it was a lovely night and the feelings are mutual @TulipSiddiq. Very special to share some time with a room packed full of talented people alongside a genuine woman of action and inspiration to many...!

Thank you to the Pipeline for presenting me with the award for Allyship, embodying Resilience and Courage, for my work on freeing Nazanin. Privileged to share the platform with Amanda Blanc from Aviva. Thank you!! ⁦@execpipeline⁩ ⁦@Amandas_Shoes⁩ ⁦@avivaplc⁩

Prices for all the things we have to do – fill up the car to get to work, put food on the table, and keep our houses warm - are going up and up.

Labour would scrap VAT on energy bills and insulate millions of homes, taking £100s off bills. https://rdg.today/cost-of-living-people-are-having-to-make-impossible-decisions-about-heating-and-eating-warns-shadow-chancellor-rachel-reeves-during-visit-to-reading/

Thank you to the fabulous @TulipSiddiq MP for hosting us today in House of Parliament celebration of Heather Johnson’s birthday. We were greeted by so many amazing MP’s and Lords from all parties @EmilyThornberry @CatherineWest1 @rushanaraali @Vernon_Coaker

I’m very proud of how welcoming our community is here in Hampstead and Kilburn.

Inspiring constituents from @Qparkres have set up a support network for Ukrainian refugees and their hosts - you can find out more here: http://www.qpark.org.uk/?cat=202

In episode six of #CommitteeCorridor🎧, @TomTugendhat talks to Richard Ratcliffe, whose wife Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe was detained by the Iranian authorities for six years, @TulipSiddiq and @Royston_Smith about state-hostage taking. @FreeNazanin

I spoke in Parliament today about the rise of private sector agencies in the care system. This is causing instability in children's lives, and a loss of over £100m a year.

The Government must act now to tackle the overuse of agency staff and end profiteering in the care system.

A big thank you to @TulipSiddiq for a great evening at Westminister to help celebrate Heather Johnson’s significant birthday this year & also a reunion of Tulip’s former colleagues as Regents Park ward councillors! Great to be joined by @DianaJohnsonMP @abenaopp @Nash_Ali21

Tonight @CamdenCouncil cabinet voted to fulfil @CamdenLabour’s manifesto commitment to create a £2 million cost of living fund to help people in crisis with rising bills & debt.

While the govt flounders Labour locally is taking urgently needed action on cost of living crisis.

Every week we share a #WednesdayWoman, today we would like to thank @TulipSiddiq for her support in helping us transform the lives of our mothers and their children in Sreepur Village, keeping their families together since 1989. #Thankyou #Charity #Bangladesh #FamiliesTogether

Keir Starmer going through Tory l’ship rivals’ greatest hits:

Rishi Sunak criticising rivals’ “fantasy economics” & unfunded spending promises

Liz Truss asking “why we haven’t seen” growth plan & warning of recession

Penny Mordaunt claiming public services in “desperate state”

Keir Starmer quotes Liz Truss from the TV leadership debates when she said:

“If Rishi has got a great plan for growth, why haven’t we seen it in his last two and a half years at the Treasury?” #pmqs

Starmer: “they organised the TV debates because they thought it’d be a great chance to hear from the candidates first hand. But then disaster struck: because the public heard from the candidates first hand.”

As I say here, all this Chancellor has to offer is chaos in our public services, unfunded tax cuts and desperate threats to undermine the independence of financial services regulators.

What we need is a long-term plan to build a stronger, secure economy.

All your bills going up and up and up.

Taxes rising to the highest level in 70 years.

The worst economic crisis for a generation.

Not our words.

The words of those running to be the next Tory leader.

See what else they think of 12 years of Tory failure:

Yesterday in Parliament, I called on the Government to introduce the second part of the Economic Crime Bill as a matter of urgency.

For all the Government’s recent tough talk on money laundering, the Conservatives have failed to match their rhetoric with legislative action.

London's famous Pride celebrations attracted over 1 million people this year.

I’m delighted that LGBTQI+ community-led organisations can now apply to deliver Pride for the next five years. This funding will be the start of a new era for Pride in London.

Tonight, Labour put the country first by voting to remove a Prime Minister who, in the words of his own MPs, is unfit for office.

Tory MPs have failed to act in the national interest by allowing him to cling on and they should be ashamed of keeping him in power.

Just bumped into Rishi in Parliament and asked if he wanted a selfie and an endorsement from me. He ran away SO quickly 😂😂😂 It wasn’t actually a genuine offer 😂😂

I'm in the Commons Chamber for the motion of confidence in the Government and listening to the Prime Minister who sounds absolutely and completely deluded.

He knows the end is in sight and genuinely looks like he's losing it.

Under this Tory government, the UK now has the second most expensive childcare costs in the world.

In the midst of the worst cost-of-living crisis on record, this is simply unsustainable.

But Ministers refuse to act. Parents deserve better than this.

Liz Truss claims she became a Tory because kids at her school “weren’t getting the opportunities they should have”.

Liz spent her entire time at school under Conservative governments.

Who does she think was in charge of education?

What sort of fools do they take us for?

🎥 As a former Bank of England economist, I know what it’ll take to get Britain back on track.

Labour are the only party that can build the stronger, more secure economy we need.

As I say here, a Labour government would make the UK the best place in the world to set-up and grow a FinTech.

The breakdown of the Government has left our financial services and FinTech sector in a state of uncertainty. It's time for them to step aside.

#OnThisDay in Labour history in 1998, Chancellor Gordon Brown announced the Sure Start programme🌹

"bringing together quality services for the under-threes and their parents—nursery, child care and playgroup provision, and post-natal and other health services" 🧵

Big thank you to @InnFin for hosting a roundtable with me and Buy-Now-Pay-Later firms earlier this week.

I want to see regulation of the sector brought forward immediately to give companies certainty, crack down on bad actors in the space and ensure consumers are protected.

Privileged to have attended the 33rd anniversary celebrations of Sreepur Village NGO in Bangladesh
Thank you @SabbirKarim @NamaasteHigate for hosting us.
Great catching up with good friends @TulipSiddiq @abs_hai @Nash_Ali21 @BangladeshUK many key figures.

Today at #PMQs I spoke on behalf of my constituents who have contacted me about the tragic murder of Zara Aleena.

Women should not have to police themselves to feel safe.

This Government must take concrete steps to tackle the epidemic of violence against women and girls.

I would like to thank @Coadec for inviting me to speak at their fantastic Fintech Week reception last night.

Labour has an exciting vision for the sector, our start-up review and plans for regulatory reform will make the UK the best place to grow and set-up a Fintech.

I had a lovely time at @Doorstep_London’s Eid Party yesterday!

It was great to meet so many constituents and get a chance to say thank you to everyone at Doorstep, an amazing charity in my constituency which supports homeless families, for all the important work they do.

Even hearing someone pose the question “some might say you aren’t British” to someone who was trafficked into modern slavery as a child aged 9 makes me feel a bit sick to be honest.

Responsible management of our public finances is crucial for building the strong foundations we need to reboot our economy.

This afternoon @resfoundation, I'll talk about Labour's strong fiscal rules and how we will get our economy growing.
