This Government is presiding over complete transport chaos - backlog at ports, airports and rail coming to a grinding halt due to #ToryRailStrikes.

Instead of blaming unions and trying to strip workers of their rights, Ministers should be doing their job and resolve the crisis.

📈According to this week's @transportgovuk figures, rail passenger numbers were 92-93% of pre-pandemic levels every day from 11-19 June.

It is clear that people want to travel by train. We should be planning for a bigger and better rail network, not a declining one.

We need a reliable electric vehicle charging network if we are to meet the 2030 goal of ending the sale of new petrol and diesel cars.

So why is the Transport Secretary refusing to set a national target on public chargepoints?

Great to have @TanDhesi as part of the @SRTRC_England @frogsystemsltd new platform against #racism.

A big milestone! @SloughMencap @mencap_charity @TanDhesi #slough

Helping resolve industrial disputes within/between publicly owned bodies like Network Rail is absolutely the Government’s duty, especially when #rail is so key for our economy.

Rather than doing tours of media studios and union-bashing, Transport Secretary needs to do his job.

People of Wakefield and Tiverton sent a clear message to this Govt: enough is enough.

Millions of working people being pushed into poverty whilst this country is on brink of a crippling summer of strike action. Make no mistake, Tories are the party of poverty and chaos. #PMQs

In 2019 I challenged Boris Johnson over his supposed “oven-ready” #Brexit deal, #NorthernIrelandProtocol and for selling out his DUP allies.

3 years later, those obvious flaws risk peace in #NorthernIreland and trade war with the EU.

This Government’s incompetence is dangerous.

#Racism is a disease that sadly pervades society, including the elegant game of cricket.

By drawing upon painful experiences, @AzeemRafiq30 bravely helped expose it, but as we discussed, progress by sports authorities to stamp it out is nowhere near good enough.

Great to speak at the @TargetOvarian reception today

When more people are aware of Ovarian Cancer symptoms, more lives are saved.

Make sure you're aware of:
💜 Persistent bloated tummy
💜 Always feeling full
💜 Tummy pain
💜 Needing to wee more

Wishing everyone a happy #PrideMonth, especially all LGBTQ+ people and allies.

The recent row over conversion therapy demonstrates as clear as day the inequalities LGBTQ+ people face and why #Pride is as essential as it has ever been for us all within a progressive society.

Killing of #ShireenAbuAkleh was a horrific act of violence, blatant assault on press freedom, and a tragedy for #Palestinians and fair minded people across the world.

There should be an independent inquiry and the UK must be a staunch advocate for justice for Shireen’s family.

Shadow Rail Minister @TanDhesi says we are going through a difficult time in the rail industry but passenger numbers are recovering and we must have ambition commensurate with that

Lovely parliamentary reception, hosted by @chrisloder today in celebration of @Modern_Railways 60th anniversary. V grateful of the invite and for the editor shouting me out for the #pridemonth contribution, which then lead to applause started by my CEO. Truly humbled. ^Shane

Government failure means vital local services like swimming pools & libraries risk being cut.

If councils aren’t given help, they’ll be forced to make £2bn worth of impossible decisions because of inflation & soaring energy costs.

Does that sound like appropriate funding?

☎️ 470,000 mental health 999 calls each year.
🚑 Thousands going to A&E in a mental health crisis.
⏳ Some children stuck in A&E for days waiting for a mental health bed.

The Government needs to get a grip of the mental health crisis across our country.

New laws in the #Galicia region of #Spain will mean offenders could get fines into the thousands for peeing in the sea, or for disorderly conduct.

As I said on @TheNewsDesk, clearly the good people of #Vigo have higher standards than Downing Steet!

My better half and I really enjoyed watching the witty, yet hard-hitting romantic comedy #LittleEnglish @LittleEngFilm - part of London Indian Film Festival #LIFF2022.

Set in #Slough; directed, produced and written by talented stars from the town, making us all incredibly proud.

Our brave troops risk so much in service of the country and on #ArmedForcesDay we mark our respect and admiration for them.

Armed Forces Parliamentary Scheme has helped me appreciate just how invaluable they are for our safety and national security.

Today we celebrated our successful school-community partnerships. Helping our children transition from primary to secondary and from childhood to adulthood. Thanks to @AikSaath, Heathrow Community Trust and @TanDhesi for all your help and support on this first initiative.

Many thanks 🙏@TanDhesi and Baroness IIora Finlay for showing your support for #childrenshospiceweek at the APPG drop in yesterday, alongside @SSChospices @HavenHouseCH @NoahsArkHospice. #forthechildren

After losing Wakefield to Labour and Tiverton to the Lib Dembs, I’m glad that someone is taking responsibility within this ongoing shambles of a Government.

But when will a pathologically lying, lawbreaking and incompetent Boris Johnson finally take responsibility and resign?

Oliver Dowden @OliverDowden

My letter of resignation to the Prime Minister.

Officially invited to the opening of #Horlicks Quarter Aquifer Gardens with @SloughLeader @sloughcouncil @TanDhesi. A few minutes walk to the Slough train station. 15 mins by train to Paddington.
Great to see @BerkeleyGroupUK have preserved #Horlicks Chimney and Clock tower.

Honour to officially open #Horlicks Quarter Aquifer Gardens development with @SloughLeader and @SloughCouncil councillors.

Glad the iconic chimney and factory, a British landmark in #Slough, has been rejuvenated by @BerkeleyGroupUK to blend seamlessly into beautiful #housing.

This is a Tory recipe for disaster⚠️

Not just undermining pay, rights and conditions, but risking public safety and ripping up ministers’ own words.

They’ve learned nothing from the P&O scandal, which led to safety failures and grounding of vessels.

#Rail workers are getting a raw deal from Govt and so have gone on strike.

Tory inaction and incompetence is bringing misery to millions and our country to a grinding halt.

Tory Transport Ministers - meet and negotiate with the unions, stop playing games & do your job! @TalkTV

Rail workers kept our country going during the pandemic.

Many lost colleagues and friends.

They are the same people this shameless Prime Minister promised a high-wage economy to, before presiding over the biggest fall in living standards on record.

Feeling very enthused hearing @TanDhesi’s measured approach and impassioned response to such a diverse range of issues, including #ToryRailStrikes #rail #Partygate #womenssafety & the importance of inclusivity. Thanks also to @nabhanmalik @WoottonDaniel for such a great event🌹

Today @TanDhesi spoke to @WoottonDaniel of @APCOLondon about the #ToryRailStrikes. He told us that the strikes have been devastating for workers, passengers, and the economy. Tan called on the Government to show leadership and work in the public interest to resolve the dispute.

All medical research should be carried out with a focus on ensuring the human relevance of research is understood and justified.

Archaic animal experiments are both cruel to the animals and ineffective in many cases at delivering best outcomes for humans.

Despite Labour leader Keir Starmer's reported edict on not attending strike pickets, his own shadow rail minister Tan Dhesi says he didn't get the email.

@tnewtondunn | @TanDhesi

#HS2 is an opportunity with #rail to benefit communities across our country, but we must take a pro-active approach to benefit UK businesses.

Labour believes in awarding as many public contracts as possible to UK based firms to help generate more local #jobs.

I still can't believe Tan's video which I edited into a YouTube Shorts video got 42 MILLION VIEWS! 🤯 Wowsers! 😁

I explain why I think it got so many views in the follow up video. Don't forget to press the bell icon 🔔.

As part of #HS2, Old Oak Common in London is set to become one of the best connected and largest railway stations ever built in the UK.

Fantastic to meet senior staff and apprentices, and see the work going on to deliver a new #rail super hub - looking forward to its completion.
