Great to be getting out the vote in #Wakefieldbyelection with @HollyLynch5 @SarahOwen_ & @_OliviaBlake for @simonlightwood #VoteLabourWakefield 🌹 @UKLabour

I wrote to the FCDO Minister alongside @rach_hopkins about the imprisonment of Yasin Malik, calling on the Government to outline the steps they took to ensure he faced a fair trial.

One month has gone by and we're yet to receive a response...

Young people in Luton are the best!

Zaeem from @ChallneyBoys got in touch to say why he’s taking part in the colour-run for @LutonFoodbank.

If you can please support or just share his just giving page: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Zaeem-Majeed

Good luck to everyone taking part🫶

This Conservative Government’s Bill of Rights con is an attack on women.

It will make it harder for victims of rape to get justice.

But it comes as no surprise from a Govt that has effectively decriminalised rape.

“Pay rises for City bankers. Pay cuts for district nurses.”

These are the Conservative’s priorities. What a disgrace. #PMQs

We must never forget the Windrush Generation, the debt of gratitude & respect we owe them and the injustice that far too many continue to suffer.

Reports of taxpayers’ money for mates, lawbreaking in No.10… the new ethics adviser will have their work cut out.

Is it any wonder the Tories are stalling to find one? 🤷🏻‍♀️🤔

For every electoral fraud conviction in the last 5 years, the Tories are now shelling out over £380k.

Not only will ID requirements make it harder for people to exercise their democratic rights, it’s also costing us millions 💷

Working people are entitled to democratically decide to strike if their employer won’t listen to them.

People never decide on industrial action lightly but I fully support the right to do so.

It’s Tory failure and austerity that’s caused this, not @RMTunion members &workers 1/2

As Tories cynically try to pit working people against each other, this is the reality of the cost of living crisis.

Nurses turning to foodbanks.

The same healthcare workers that were clapped as the heroes they are, now struggling to feed themselves and their families. #GTTO

Lisa Nandy - "The government are the only people who can solve the rail strike... the biggest problem this country has is not militant workers, it's a militant government... we currently have a government on strike & not doing its job."

We’ve been busy bees in Barnfield today delivering the latest newsletter from Labour Councillors about what’s going on and future plans for Luton.

The actual bees were loving all the sunshine and flowers too 🐝

It was great to meet Divyesh and his team - the people I met felt like family to each other /1

I promised a constituent I’d post this.

It’s the hottest day of the year, please be considerate of your neighbours and do not have a bonfire on days/nights when it’s too hot to close windows.

Lord Geidt resigned as ethics adviser because the prime minister asked him to sanction a deliberate and wilful breach of the ministerial code of conduct. “I can have no part in this”, he said. This is hugely damaging to the reputation of the whole government. See attached

Renters have been promised this for so long - it’s been 3 yrs since Govt first committed to it.

During the this delay, thousands have been evicted through no fault of their own and threatened with homelessness.

Renters need emergency legislation not further consultation.

It was great to meet with the excellent @MarvinJRees and @TomRenhard today to hear what innovative ways Labour are delivering homes and tackling homelessness in Bristol.

Only last week they announced 10,000 new homes @TempleQuarter and using car parks for zed pod homes. 🏘

"Labour will stop this policy. We will campaign to stop it now"

Shadow immigration minister Stephen Kinnock says Rwanda asylum plan is "unworkable, it is profoundly wrong and it is extortionately expensive"

The government's new cost of living advisor says the Tories have been playing "fast and loose with the UK economy" and that we should "never confuse an expensive education with intelligence or integrity."

I couldn't agree more.

Ministers ignored all warnings about deep problems in this policy - from treatment of torture victims to the risk of making people trafficking worse.

Shows shamefully that they care more about picking fights than serious policies. They’ve lost all British decency & common sense

This Small Business Saturday Shout goes to the brilliant Brians DIY & Trade on Waller Avenue.

PC Henry put himself in harm’s way to stop the man attacking people.

Every single day, police officers run towards danger in order to protect and serve the public.

What an absolute shower.

They tell us they’re levelling up the country but this is what they truly think. They can’t even tell the difference between “Blackpool or Birmingham or somewhere godawful”.

Clueless and offensive.

A new born baby and their mum recovering from a c-section forced to sleep rough on the streets. It is cruel, and inhumane. This is Tory Britain. https://www.theguardian.com/global-development/2022/jun/09/migrant-women-charged-up-to-14000-for-nhs-maternity-services-in-england

I’m very grateful for the invite to join everyone at the Hindu Mandir in Lewsey this evening for their Katha ceremony. It was great to hear about wellbeing sessions & their work with young people.

We are genuinely one town of many voices in Luton, and all the better for it.

What a brilliant jubilee celebration at @LutonSixthForm tonight. The talented students really put on a show to remember!

The performance of I dreamed a dream actually bought tears to my eyes, it was so beautiful. Well done everyone involved. #Luton

The Prime Minister is announcing measures today to allow people to use housing benefit to count towards a mortgage 🏠

The key question is: are lenders on board?

Because if they aren’t, it’s completely unworkable
