Enfield is home to some of London’s greenest spaces & I’m delighted that @FieldsInTrust agree as Broomfield Park and Grovelands Park have been nominated for the UK’s Favourite Park 2022.

Voting is open until 18 Aug & you can vote for our local parks here:

Today we remember the thousands of Roma and Sinti men, women, and children who were killed during the Holocaust and remind ourselves that Roma discrimination and hate is still very present today.

In their memory we say never again.

Great to be out delivering leaflets in sunny Arnos Grove this morning! Keep an eye out for my summer update coming to your letterbox this month @SouthgateLabour 🌹

Fantastic result! Congratulations @Lionesses on winning such a tough game! Brilliant performance from #MaryEarps on keeping England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 in the game! #footballscominghome #WEuro2022Final

Great to meet @MazenGharibah from @BritishSyrian to discuss the current situation in Syria and the need for greater accountability on missing persons and the use of chemical weapons. Also good to discuss the UN Security Council cross border aid operations for Syria

1/ The Conservatives have decimated Britain's global influence by failing on both the strategy and implementation of foreign policy.

This damning report published today by @instituteforgov shows how 🧵👇🏿

This is good news but Morad Tahbaz remains stuck in Iran. A British citizen, Morad must now be reunited with his family and allowed to return to the UK as his family were promised.

This leadership contest is a scrap between political lightweights.

The big hitters in town are @Keir_Starmer and @RachelReevesMP.

And @UKLabour is going to land a knockout blow on whoever emerges from the latest Tory debacle.

I visited the powerful #ClearTheAir exhibition run by @asthmalunguk this week to hear about air pollution and why the Government needs to do much more to reduce pollution by ensuring clean air targets are met to protect our planet and our lungs.

When it comes to tackling climate change, the Tories are dangerously detached from reality.

Labour will provide the leadership and action needed to secure our energy, create new jobs and get bills down.

@Ed_Miliband and I explain how and why:

Great to be giving out awards to the Enfield @stjohnambulance cadets. Many thanks to David, Hector & Jackie on doing such an amazing job with the cadets!

Enjoyed visiting @ArlaFoodsUK Oakthorpe last week to see the site in Palmers Green, discuss the challenges facing the dairy sector, and hear more about Arla’s investment in jobs and opportunities locally in Enfield Southgate.

Great evening with brilliant colleagues @bambos_MP and @JoanneMcCartney at ⁦@SouthgateLabour⁩ fundraiser.

Thank you for the opportunity to talk to members about Labour’s ambition for our children’s education and future.

The change we need is a Labour government.

Fantastic to have @bphillipsonMP as our guest speaker at the @SouthgateLabour fundraising dinner tonight along with @JoanneMcCartney Thank you to everyone who came along to make tonight such a success @LondonLabour @UKLabour 🌹

I’m delighted to have been reselected as the candidate for Enfield Southgate.

Enfield is my home and it's the honour of my life to serve this constituency. I promise to keep standing up for the people of Enfield Southgate.

Good to meet the Egyptian Ambassador today and to discuss Egypt’s vision for 2030, its role in the region, #COP27 relations with the UK and human rights @MfaEgypt

I have absolutely no confidence in this Government and have just voted to get rid of them and Boris Johnson now! We need a General Election immediately to replace this sorry incompetent shower!

Tonight, Labour put the country first by voting to remove a Prime Minister who, in the words of his own MPs, is unfit for office.

Tory MPs have failed to act in the national interest by allowing him to cling on and they should be ashamed of keeping him in power.

Temperatures are hitting extreme levels in Enfield as the Met Office issues its first ever Red weather warning for exceptional heat.

Please stay safe and take care by keeping cool and out of the sun, drinking fluids & recognising the signs of heat exhaustion and heatstroke.

Extremely hot weather dangerous to everyone, especially older and disabled people.

Checking in on vulnerable people during the hot weather can make a real difference.

A pleasure to be at the Rabbi Harry Jacobi memorial lecture at Southgate Progressive Synagogue with @MayorofEnfield & #MayorofBarnet to hear a wonderful tribute from family and @AlfDubs lecture on why the way we treat refugees matters

Every single Tory leadership candidate has been part of a decade of failure, running public services down and overseeing soaring child poverty.

Now they’re focused on an arms race on tax cuts, not improving our public services.

The only choice for change is a Labour government.

Great to be at @CHICKENSHED_UK to watch a very moving adaptation of children’s book The Journey by Francesca Sanna telling of the unimaginable decisions made by a family fleeing war. Well done to the amazingly talented Chickenshed Young Company on such an amazing performance 👏

Today's annual report from @Channel4 show plans to privatise are a busted flush.

These results demonstrate that its current model works but goes above and beyond in delivering dynamic growth, revenue diversification and long-term sustainability!

Pleasure to meet @UNRWA Commissioner General, Philippe Lazzarini, in Westminster to discuss the work of #UNRWA, funding pressures, the current state of the region and hopes for the future

Wishing everyone celebrating in the UK and across the world a blessed Eid Al-Adha and happy, healthy and peaceful celebrations #EidMubarak

Childcare costs are crippling for families in London and across our country.

Not just for toddlers, but for primary school age kids too.

Right now, Labour would be investing more in early years and providing free breakfast and after-school clubs.

Today we send our best wishes to members of Muslim communities here in the UK and abroad.

We hope that this day is joyous and blessed for all.

💊Future of Pharmacies
🏥Celebrating 74 years of the NHS

Read here:

We’ve always been clear that no rules were broken in Durham. The police have completed their investigation and agreed, saying that there is no case to answer.

Integrity matters in politics. The contrast with the behaviour of this disgraced Prime Minister couldn’t be clearer.

I’ve always said no rules were broken when I was in Durham.
The police have completed their investigation and agreed: there is no case to answer.
For me, this was always a matter of principle. Honesty and integrity matter. You will always get that from me.

Great to hear from the @PSCNNews drop-in event on the ways our community pharmacists are contributing to helping patients and reducing pressures on the NHS.

Over 639 vital pharmacies have closed since 2016.

More needs to be done to protect our local pharmacies and our health!

Delighted to attend the Westminster Climate Solutions Fair and support #WestminsterGoesGreen

Protecting and restoring the natural world goes hand in hand with climate change mitigation. We each have a personal responsibility to do more for the climate. @TheCCoalition

Ministerial resignations are usually about accepting responsibility.

But this week Ministers are resigning to dodge responsibility.

And some still won’t resign even now.

A little thread 🧵 …

Great to be at the International Ministerial Conference on Freedom of religion or belief. As Co- Chair of @APPGFoRB good to speak to @OpenDoorsUK on their #WorldwatchList2022

Delighted to attend The Hollies nursery 70th anniversary at Southgate British Legion. We’ll done Debbie and your team for providing a fun packed afternoon for all the children and their families!

Fantastic to visit @Tesco in Southgate this afternoon to support its Food Collection with @TrussellTrust. As the cost of living worsens, it’s important to do all we can to support charities helping people in our community. Thank you to everyone donating locally. #everycanhelps

Today Bambos Charalambous MP for #Southgate & #Chair of the APPG for #thalassaemia visited #teamukts to discuss our upcoming Parliamentary discussions & events taking place this month!

WATCH 🎥: At yesterday's Backbench Business Debate on Iran and the JCPOA, shadow Middle East Minister @Bambos_MP lays out @UKLabour's view that there is an "imperative" to move Iran's ballistic missile programme and support for terrorist proxies "up the international agenda".

Today marks 50 years since the first UK Pride. Members of the LGBT+ community who marched through London faced hostility and backlash.

But they persevered and today we celebrate and remember the groundbreaking work of LGBT+ activists over the past 50 years. 🏳️‍🌈

The JCPOA was a landmark agreement and it remains the best option to limit the #Iran nuclear programme. If efforts to restore the JCPOA fail, the consequences may be severe & the UK must continue to support our international partners, including Israel, by holding Iran to account.

Thanks to @ToniaAntoniazzi for her continued support and for drawing attention to the continued blocks to patients trying to access #medicalcannabis prescriptions on the #NHS. It is essential that @sajidjavid acts now and intervenes in this crisis.

NEW: We’re now seeing the longest decline of UK incomes ever.

It’s sapping household spending and leaving us exposed.

The Tories are failing working people.

All they offer are stagnant wages, low growth and higher taxes.

We need a stronger economy.

Great to bump into @AzeemRafiq30 in Parliament today. His courage in speaking out about his experience of racism in cricket continues to be an inspiration. #EnoughIsEnough @TellMamaUK @hopenothate
