A week of great #pridemonth #pride50 events in Parliament.

With LGBT rights under threat around the world its vital to restate our support in Parliament.

I was delighted @LindsayHoyle_MP organised for the pride flag to be flown in Parliament and attend the raising

Mayor of West Yorkshire @TracyBrabin has convened an open letter following Roe v Wade decision

Letter - signed by 28 political figures - says decision has turned ‘back clock on 50 years of women’s rights’

"The whole point of the Net Zero APPG is to get to net zero as soon as possible ... The government needs to make this the top priority, not just for the climate but for quality of life" @alexsobel

It was a pleasure to speak at the @theCCCuk and @NetZeroAPPG launch of the incredibly hard hitting progress report to Parliament

Its clear from the report that current Government action means we won’t reach Net Zero. Its 619 pages are damning on the Government’s climate delivery

"Targets don't mean anything unless we have a delivery programme", says Lord Deben at a joint reception with the #NetZero APPG and the @theCCCuk @alexsobel @Ed_Miliband Theresa May

For too long, the government have allowed water companies to treat our rivers and waterways like open sewers. They have promised to clean them up, but ecological standards have not changed since 2016. That is why I welcome this overdue investigation.

My Father escaped the persecution of Jews and came to the UK in 1934. His own parents were trapped in Europe and members of my family were murdered by the Nazis.

We know where persecution can lead and it's vital we challenge all those who look to undermine fundamental rights.

Tory Ministers & MPs trying to silence women for pointing out their appalling record on convicting rapists, is as low as it gets.

The only people who should apologise for the failure to prosecute criminals and failure to give victims justice is this Government. #VAWG

Great support from @hilarybennmp, @alexsobel & @RichardBurgon for their constituents who they know deserve Fair Pay in HE. Just waiting on replies from @RachelReevesMP and @FabianLeedsNE ...

Hilary Benn @hilarybennmp

@UoLUnison A message of solidarity for Unison members at the University of Leeds.

There are 55 tunnels across our 2,000 miles of canals and rivers, including short ones, long ones, and even one you can get married in.

Can you name these waterway favourites? 👇

Overturning Roe and outlawing abortions will never make them go away.

It only makes them more dangerous, especially for the poor + marginalized.

People will die because of this decision. And we will never stop until abortion rights are restored in the United States of America.

Overturning Roe v. Wade and denying women the right to control their own bodies is an outrage and in defiance of what the American people want. Democrats must now end the filibuster in the Senate, codify Roe v. Wade, and once again make abortion legal and safe.

🧵I just want to say thank you.

Thank you for putting your trust in me to be your Member of Parliament.

This has been a historic result for Wakefield and for Labour, with a swing not seen for Labour since we were last in Government.

Abortion is a fundamental right for all women. It must be protected. I wish to express my solidarity with the women whose liberties are being undermined by the Supreme Court of the United States.

Today, the Supreme Court not only reversed nearly 50 years of precedent, it relegated the most intensely personal decision someone can make to the whims of politicians and ideologues—attacking the essential freedoms of millions of Americans.

Today's devastating Supreme Court decision is a massive setback for women's rights in the United States of America.

The right of women to make their own decisions about their own bodies is a fundamental human right.

Out on the #labourdoorstep campaigning for @simonlightwood - he’ll be a brilliant champion for Wakefield. Polls are open til 10pm - don’t forget to vote @UKLabour #WinningWakefield

“None of us come here to manage decline, none of us seek election to this place to facilitate austerity and none of us got involved in politics to oversee cut after cut to our communities” - @KeiranON

Polling closes at 10pm. 🗳
Excellent support for @simonlightwood & @UKLabour 🌹

Send a message to this shambolic govt #BootBorisOut

Great to spend time with @JimMcMahon @KerryMP and @alexsobel talking #climatechange #transport and Simons’ ambitions for #Wakefield

Workers have been left with no choice.

No one takes strike action lightly. I will always defend their absolute right to do so for fairness at work.

The PM needs to do his own job. His Government caused this. Now they must solve it.

Whatever the Conservatives claim to be doing in Colombia clearly isn't working as violence against social activists rages on.

As penholder for Colombia at the UN, the UK must use Petro's election as fresh impetus towards the full implementation of the peace agreement.

This morning I am attending the @A_CAA event on Afghan refugees in the UK. I’ve been supporting Afghan refugees in Hotels in Leeds for 10 months. These people should have been housed by now and I praise the @a_caa for their work and all the refugee organisations helping them.

Sam Bright refutes the Conservative Party’s widely deployed claim about Labour’s economic record

Thrilled and grateful to have received 206 nominations from CLPs, which I believe is the most nominations a candidate has received in these Labour NEC elections. But nominations do not equal votes, and I hope I can count on your #1 vote when ballots drop next month.

This is the #Leeds I know and love.

We welcomed #Amal to our city on her journey. Such vibrance, diversity and positivity on our streets tonight.

*This* is my country. This is your country Amal.

With a shambolic Tory government bereft of ideas amid a cost of living crisis, Open Labour are putting forward a bold alternative.

Here’s a thread of some key ideas in our Position Paper, published today👇 🧵1/10

"I don't work on the railways, I work in parliament" says Labour's Lisa Nandy as #Raworth asks if she would have voted for rail strikes

Nandy adds there is no point telling staff to "get round the table, if you've taken away the table"

Incredible to see thousands of people on the streets of London fighting for a new deal for working people.

Workers didn’t cause the cost of living crisis. They shouldn’t have to pay for it.

Using words of inspiration of what the music of the Beatles means to people, four unsigned musicians were invited to 20 Forthlin Road to record and perform new music in the very house where it all began.

Great to be back at #OtleyCarnival after a 3 year enforced absence. So many great floats and costumes. Such brilliant musical performances and it was great to help out raising so much money for charity.

A year ago Boris Johnson promised to share 100 million surplus vaccines with the world’s poorest countries.

A year later: barely a third have been delivered, he has cut the aid budget to do it, and profiteered at poor countries’ expense.

Britain deserves better.

Tonight's the night! Headingley come and say hello to us @HeadingleyHEART 👋

We've got the some live jazz music by the Ellen Connelly Trio and free food!

When we talk about transport across #westyorkshire it’s often about regularity and cost but connectivity is equally important.

No trains between Huddersfield to Bradford this morning so into Leeds and out again instead. Nuts!

Our system needs to be much more agile & smarter.

"Make SSSIs bigger & National Parks better".

Fully agree with this think-piece commissioned by @NaturalEngland.

We need the Govt to give NE the resources to designate more SSSIs, & implement the Glover Review recommendations on NPs. h/t @inkcapjournal
