To withdraw your labour is a fundamental human right.
I unreservedly support the right of workers to strike. They have my total & unequivocal solidarity.
As a general rule of thumb, don’t ask or expect someone to settle for a wage packet that you would find unacceptable yourself.
Listening to Tory Ministers on £95,000+ telling rail workers on a third of that they get paid “too much” grates. To put it politely.

A serious ‘party of government’ would be at the table supporting talks to increase wages for workers to at least cover the ‘Cost of Living’.
They’d also be on the picket line when corporates & shareholders put greed and profit before jobs, pay and conditions.
Back the @RMTunion
That was a good bit of Telly - Paul McCartney 🤍
Its so cruel that free BBC TV licenses ended for the majority of the over 75s, making it more difficult to watch their childhood idol perform at #Glastonbury2022
A cost of living pay rise is the floor not the ceiling of what every worker deserves.
It’s not wages pushing up prices. Real terms pay has fallen. It’s profits and corporate greed pushing up prices.
Remember this when politicians say they don’t back the @RMTunion strike action.
Throughout his life, Jeremy Corbyn has been on more picket lines than all of his political enemies combined. It’s what he does - always on the side of workers.
This morning I joined the @RMTunion picket at Newcastle Central Station to stand in solidarity with striking railway workers defending their jobs, pay and conditions.
Victory for those taking action this week will be a victory for all working people.
The Supreme Court conservative majority is a nightmare. They have managed wield enormous power affecting millions of people. Yet, none were elected.
The fight back, to claim back democracy will need to be deeper and stronger
Overturning Roe vs Wade; a ban on abortions is an attack on all women but disproportionately impacts black women, women who are poor, marginalised women and women suffering domestic violence. Its abhorrent.
Restoring abortion rights requires international struggle and solidarity

Tonight, Abortion Clinics in USA are closing - permanently.
Take a little time to think through the impact that has on women.
I unreservedly condemn this attack on a woman’s right to choose.
In USA, guns have more rights than women do.
Overturning #RoeVsWade is barbaric
Women will die
Don’t cross the picket line.
Support @RMTunion and workers

In America guns are more protected than women’s reproductive rights.
In America it seems that guns and firearms are more protected than a woman’s right to safe abortions.
The network rail boss does not work 19 times harder than the rail workers striking for proper wages & secure jobs.
Why then, is he paid 19 times more?
Have you noticed those that have not called out the extradition of Julian Assange despite it being a gross violation of press freedom everywhere?
Policing the picket line is not the role of politicians.
The role of Members of Parliament is on the picket line supporting striking workers who are asking for fair pay, decent conditions and job security.
Back the @RMTunion

A statement:
Those media outlets outraged by the Windrush Scandal, refuse to call the government out on the Rwanda deportations.
Today, on Windrush Day we must call out Racism.
The Government have unveiled a statue it funded to the tune of £1 million to honour the debt owed to Caribbeans of the Windrush Generation.
Yet, victims and survivors of the Windrush Scandal remain destitute.
On this Windrush Day we must call out this hypocrisy.
Today is Windrush Day
Never Forget 👇🏾

Standing with workers who strike for proper pay & job security should be the default position of any politician who claims to represent the working class.
Solidarity to the @RMTunion. Today & always.
“Sometimes people try to destroy you, precisely because they recognise your power - not because they don't see it, but because they see it and they don't want it to exist”

Proud to stand on a picket line today in 100% solidarity with rail workers striking.

As politicians we cannot sit on our hands whilst workers fight for jobs, pay, pensions and conditions.
Our role is to support workers on the picket line. Solidarity @RMTunion
and all in Leicester
Very proud to join rail workers on the RMT picket line this morning in Leicester. Full solidarity to @RMTunion

Rail workers are fed up with corporate greed, exploitation and the managed decline of our railways - they want decent pay and job security.
Stand with the workers

When they say “low skilled” understand what they mean is “low paid”.
No one ever said to Ukrainian Refugees that they should have stopped at the first country who took them.
And rightly so.
Is it so bad to want that courtesy extended to all refugees?

PS - why are you defending billionaires? https://twitter.com/kevinmckeever/status/1538085405433679873
Disappointing you find the time to tweet that the Garment & Textile Workers Trust is a smokescreen, yet haven’t responded to our detailed report and our emails.
Priorities?

As chair I’d be happy to meet and discuss. https://twitter.com/ClaudiaWebbe/status/1538060491876179969

Today our unions are marching and rallying for incomes to rise; they demand better for pay, pensions and social security.
None of this is controversial

Without garment workers there would no boohoo.
Whether out of work or working at home, the factory or in shops and stores everyone deserves decent pay, terms and conditions. No one should be left behind.

Meanwhile:
The Chief Executive of boohoo has just been handed a bonus of £712,631. This is on top of the £1.4m paid last year.
Whilst a new survey reveal poor pay and conditions persist in Leicester’s Garment Industry.
Billionaires exist because of working class exploitation
Smokescreen
boohoo set-up a charity, The Garment and Textiles Workers Trust and a ‘flagship factory’ in my own constituency of Leicester East.
Yet, have done nothing to pay the underpaid wages owed to workers that made its garments. boohoo still refuse to recognise Trade Unions
