Steve Bray has spent six years screaming abuse through a loudhailer at me and many others as often as he saw us for the βcrimeβ of trying to fulfil the democratic decision of the UK to leave the EU. This action by the police to stop his violent protest is very welcome πππ https://twitter.com/lbc/status/1541754410392555521

How lovely - a letter from one of them. β€οΈ
What a load of utter nonsense from the LibDems - this is our hardworking @Conservatives 5am dawn team - almost 4x as many @Conservatives volunteers out bright & early in the #TivertonandHonitonByElection https://twitter.com/DavidParsley50/status/1539901350527606785
Tiverton and Honiton: Despite call to arms from local Tory chairman, not a single Conservative supporter shows up for 5am push for votes, but Lib Dem activists are up bright and early.

Wow. Bristol Council comms boss suggests that BBC-funded local democracy reporter @AlexGSeabrook shouldnβt be asking Mayor Marvin Rees about flying 9,000 miles to speak on climate change. She says Alex is not βa journalist from a newspaperβ

I keep reading the argument that "safe and legal routes" will stop the Channel crossings. But unless we offer a safe and legal route to everybody prepared to make the journey, it quite obviously won't stop the crossings.
I definitely stand by what I said. βπΎ
Some of the reaction to it is precisely part of the problem.

In an extremely rare moment of candour on Russian state TV today, defence columnist Mikhail Khodaryonok gave a damning assessment of Russia's war in Ukraine and his country's international isolation. It's fairly long but worth your time so I've added subtitles.
Minister: We want to help people earn more, through better paid jobs or perhaps more hours, but we understand that wonβt fit everyoneβs circumstances.

The hysteria over a misattributed quote which has been there for 8 yrs, and never hurt our outstanding results, reminds me of the hysteria around statues -
which we walked past a million times and never noticed-
Until they become the greatest sin that one must repent for.
This March saw the highest number of cases dealt with in the Crown Court in a single month since the start of the pandemic, and the number of outstanding cases is now at its lowest in 12 months.
Our measures are bearing down on the backlog.

The leaders of the Church of England should be wary about clumsily intervening into complex political issues at the best of times. To do so on Easter Sunday feels very wrong. Archbishop of York views particularly wrong headed. Claims heβs in tune with majority of the public π

Last night, Labour & the Lib Dems shockingly joined forces in parliament to BLOCK our plans to stop protestors glueing themselves to roads & thereby cause misery to thousands of motorists just trying to earn a living, take loved ones to hospital and get on with their lives!

Rest in peace Jack.
No matter other factors, the No. 1 thing you can control is yourself and what you do. Doesn't mean we shouldn't tackle barriers or that people can work hard without success unfairly but I meet a lot of young people where the BIGGEST BARRIER is self belief and aspiration.
