I’m supporting the Prime Minister today. My constituents this weekend asked for stability and a focus on issues like the cost of living, not a change of PM. He has rightly apologised for mistakes made. But, from the vaccine rollout to Ukraine, he got the big calls right.

I would like to express my sincere thanks to every single one of my Essex parliamentary colleagues who kindly supported my letter, endorsing Colchester's City status bid. City status is great new for Colchester and the whole of Essex. #ColchesterCity #HM70

Why does government no longer use the term ‘BAME’?

BAME is often used to group all ethnic minorities together, meaning it disguises different levels of inequality between ethnic groups.

As Ramadan comes to an end, I’d like to wish Eid Mubarak to all British Muslims celebrating Eid al-Fitr. As Faith Minister, celebrating with all of the UK’s faith communities on these special occasions is one of the best parts of the job.

As Orthodox Christians come together with their families and loved ones this weekend to celebrate Easter, I'd like to send them my best wishes for this joyful celebration of the miracle of Christ's resurrection

As Christians across the world reflect on the death of Jesus and the miracle of his resurrection, I’d like to wish you all a Happy Easter and a peaceful and joyful time with families, friends and loved ones.

I’d like to wish a Happy Passover to everyone in the Jewish community. I hope you enjoy celebrating together for Seder. Chag Sameach! #Passover

As Faith minister, I often highlight notable festivals celebrated by religious communities across the UK. 2022 has a concurrence of significant events this week for Sikhs, Jains, Jews and Christians....

Today I am thinking of my dear friend Sir David Amess. My thoughts are with him, his family & the people of Southend, a place he devoted his life to serving.

David was a kind, compassionate and loyal colleague. He represented the best values of our parliamentary democracy. 1/3

I’d like to wish all those observing Ramadan a peaceful and joyful celebration. I am delighted that this year families and communities can come together in more relaxed circumstances to mark the occasion.

Returning to @McDonaldsUK after 24 years was such a surreal experience but I loved every minute of it!

Working there and doing an apprenticeship got me started in life so I was delighted to be able to meet their apprentices and to get back behind the counter.

When Equalities Minister @KemiBadenoch returned to Britain as a teenager (1996), only one Black woman had ever been elected to the Commons. Today, 39 women MPs from ethnic minorities can contest the arguments about what more still needs to change on race

“The UK is a multi-faith, multi-ethnic, multi-cultural success story, and we believe that many of our greatest strengths derive from the diversity of our population.”

@KemiBadenoch announces the government’s ‘Inclusive Britain’ Action Plan ⬇️

We won’t achieve equality if we undermine the values, traditions and institutions which embody the best of Britain.

Later today, I will be launching “Inclusive Britain”, our action plan to tackle racial inequality while building a more inclusive society.

On #InternationalWomensDay, our all-female humanitarian team in Poland stands in solidarity with the women of Ukraine.

I’m currently away on bereavement leave after losing my dad a few days ago. I cried more times in the last 5 months than I did the 40 years before. He had a brain tumour that took a bit of him away from us each day. It’s been agony coming to terms with what I knew was coming...

Like many of you this #HolocaustMemorialDay I’m pausing to remember all those who lost their lives in the Holocaust and subsequent genocides. The world must never see such atrocities again. #HMD2022 #LightTheDarkness

Merry Christmas to all! After a challenging year, I hope everyone is able to come together and enjoy the festive period and end of year celebrations with family and friends.

Happy #Chanukah to all those celebrating! The Jewish community bring so much to our country and as Faith Minister, I remain committed to celebrating the traditions of Jewish people and protecting their freedom to practice their religion without judgement or fear. #Hanukkah

Today as Faith minister I made clear that we won’t allow those who wish to divide our multi-faith society to succeed. I outlined what the govt is doing to tackle anti-Muslim hatred and paid tribute to my friend David Amess who even in death, brought people of all faiths together.

We’re investing more than £2.3m in nine council-led projects through the @LDgovUK #LocalDigitalFund.

This funding will support #LocalGov to become more resilient and deliver better public services for residents.

As Faith Minister I’d like to wish our Hindu, Sikh and Jain friends across the world and here in the UK a very happy and prosperous #Diwali and #BandiChhorDivas. Our society is greatly enhanced by your contributions and I am delighted to celebrate with you today.

“I am really pleased people are thinking more about black contributions to British history.”

Minister for Equalities, Kemi Badenoch explains what she has liked and hasn’t liked over the duration of Black History Month.

Basildon man is gone and my heart is broken. Thank you, David Amess, for being my friend, for always smiling, the great advice and endless notes of encouragement. And for our last conversation in the lobby before recess. And of course your wonderful book. I will never forget you.

A friend and colleague has been murdered while trying to help others.

Please can members of the press back off, stop calling and respect the deep shock.

My colleague James Brokenshire was a lovely, lovely man. Kind, caring and compassionate.

He served his constituents and the country with distinction in the best spirit of British public service. We will miss him dearly

I send Cathy and all his family my deepest condolences.

We lost a leading light today. Very sad to hear that Rev Dr Joel Edwards @NigPat passed away today. He was a key link between the govt and the Christian community he served and will be very much missed by me and all who worked with him. May he rest in peace.

The more ethnic identity is emphasised the weaker national identity becomes. This is a dangerous trend for our multi-racial society where we need to lean on what we have in common not emphasise difference.
