I welcomed Kent Police & Crime Commissioner @matthewscottpcc to #Tunbridge Wells with @TWellsCouncil leader, Tom Dawlings. We heard his plans for a more visible police presence & saw how the clearing at #MajorYorksRoad he funded has made the footpath safer for women & girls.
I was delighted to mark #National Apprenticeship Week with a visit to @AspensCharities where I met Ashley , Emily and Jamie. I am inspired by their commitment to their job and to continued learning. A fabulous advert for the @Apprenticeships scheme.
Great to meet people supported by @AspensCharities in #Pembury #Kent and hear about the great work going on to ensure adults on the #autism spectrum and with #learning disabilities live independently and gain life skills.
We then visited @SpireGlobal where we saw the work they were doing to expand their end-to-end satellite manufacturing facilities and heard about the wider benefits to society of satellites.
As part of our work on space and satellites, yesterday we visited Glasgow. We started off our day with a visit to @AACClydeSpace where we saw the work they were doing to build CubeSat satellites and expand this growing sector.
Great to see @GregClarkMP who congratulated some of our apprentices on their achievements for #NationalApprenticeshipWeek2022. Thank you for your visit Greg, we really appreciate your support #socialcare #Recruiting #bethechange
The Committee visited the National Satellite Testing Facility, a development backed by £105 million of government funds. The facility hosts large-scale facilities that are capable of testing that satellites that weigh up to 7000kg.
Yesterday the Committee visited @Harwell space cluster as part of its inquiry into UK Space Strategy and Satellite Infrastructure.
My memories of Jack Dromey MP in yesterday’s tributes in the House of Commons to a much-missed colleague and friend.
What...a...sight...Tunbridge Wells starlings at dusk...mumurating... (is that a word?)
So shocked to hear that my friend Jack Dromey MP has died.
Jack was a passionate champion of UK manufacturing industry and I was proud to work closely with him, regardless of party - in Government and since - to promote its strengths and its future.
He will be deeply missed.
