I'm extremely grateful for the work of the Centenary Historical Advisory Panel throughout the @NIOgov Centenary Programme.👏
Delighted to have been able to meet with some of the panel and discuss ‘1921- 2021 Northern Ireland Centenary Historical Perspectives’📙 at @thelinenhall.

It was an honour to be asked to attend @QUBelfast event to unveil portrait of David Trimble. I paid tribute alongside Bertie Ahern with video messages from @BorisJohnson, @InstituteGC and @BillClinton. A chance to say thank you to a man to whom Northern Ireland owes so much.

Fantastic to visit @FootprintsWomen this morning with @MaryPetersTrust, an organisation that provides essential services to women and children in the local area, to witness the Queen’s Baton Relay as it travels to Northern Ireland ahead of @birminghamcg22 next month. #QBR2022

It was lovely to visit @StMarks_School in Talbot Village today and have a tour with the new headteacher, answer questions from the pupils and meet the School Council. A really lovely atmosphere and the children made me so welcome.

Mid term by-elections are frequently difficult for any Government. If we had followed the polls and by-elections we would have sacked Margaret Thatcher in 1981 and 1986. She went on to win majorities over 100 both times. Big lesson is division equals inevitable defeat.

It was a pleasure to meet and listen to ⁦@NikkiHaley⁩ today. Clarity of thought mixed with conviction. A useful reminder that Conservatism is most powerful when defined by how it empowers the individual.

Skill Up is a brilliant example of the Government’s commitment to helping people fulfil their potential, working with @Economy_NI to give people in NI the opportunity to build their skills & gain better employment. Great to hear from some of those who have benefited at @QUBelfast

It was great meeting so many Conservative members and supporters on Friday evening when I visited Cranborne to speak for @Simon4NDorset. Political parties are nothing without their members and we owe so much to those who freely give of their time to support.

A busy week in 🇺🇸 explaining our Protocol legislation and why it is necessary without a broader EU negotiating mandate to reach an agreement. Always struck by the warmth towards 🇬🇧 as a reliable ally in so many areas and especially right now on 🇺🇦

Good to have a brief interlude from a very busy programme to call into ⁦@Heritage⁩ and catch up with ⁦@NileGardiner⁩ and the wonderful ⁦@JohnOSullivanNR⁩. Almost a mini team Thatcher reunion!

Really enjoyed a good conversation with ⁦@GOPLeader⁩ Kevin McCarthy this week alongside ⁦@KarenPierceUK⁩. Kevin is a staunch friend and ally of the UK and a powerful advocate of 🇺🇸🇬🇧 cooperation

Today as we mark 40 years since the end of the Falklands conflict we salute those who lost their lives and think of their families. We remember the brave and resolute leadership of Margaret Thatcher and her conviction that we must always put the rights of our citizens first.

Busy day here in Washington today as Parliament say the introduction of the Bill aiming to fix the challenges caused by the interpretation of the Northern Ireland Protocol.

Busy morning in Washington talking to media both here and at home ahead of this afternoon’s announcement on Bill to resolve the challenges of implementation and interpretation of NI Protocol.

I will vote to support Boris tonight. I watched how broken our politics became in 2019 and was convinced only he could fix it. Having won the biggest mandate of any Tory Leader since Lady T and got the big calls right he commands support. The people should be his judge.

Thank you Northern Ireland. I’ve shared in celebrations in counties Armagh, Antrim, Down, Fermanagh, Londonderry and Tyrone over the last four days. I head home having made new friends and great memories. #HM70

A splendid finale to four intense days of Platinum Jubilee events. Beautiful service of thanksgiving @BelCathedral with @BLieutenancy. A perfect end to an incredible celebration around Northern Ireland #HM70

Thank you Antrim! On last day of Jubilee celebrations I had a warm welcome to visit the amazing Diarmuid Gavin’s Clockwork Garden in Antrim Castle Gardens. And met some lovely people at the Big Jubilee Lunch #HM70

I was delighted to welcome Their Royal Highnesses the Earl and Countess of Wessex to Northern Ireland's newly-created city of Bangor today, and to present them with their @NIOgov #PlatinumJubilee hamper with produce from over 50 Northern Ireland firms #HM70 @RoyalFamily @FoodNI

Some reflections on the second full day of the Jubilee weekend yesterday with visits in County Antrim and County Londonderry concluding with a service in Derry Cathedral #HM70 #platinumjubilee

It was an honour to be in Enniskillen to witness the lighting of the most westerly beacon in the whole United Kingdom. I met the diverse beacon lighters showing modern Northern Ireland and had the pleasure of thanking the massed bands. #HM70

It was very poignant to visit City Hall in the city of my birth @belfastcc to see wonderful young performers, to join in the tea dance (dancing badly!) and to meet the new Lord Mayor of Belfast Cllr Tina Black in her first week of office. A really special event #HM70

Yesterday I enjoyed visiting events in County Down, Fermanagh and Tyrone. It was a joy to be made so welcome by communities celebrating this historic 👑Jubilee weekend and especially to see Northern Ireland’s young people embracing the experience #HM70

Delighted to join #PlatinumJubilee events today in Counties Down, Fermanagh and Tyrone. Range of events and the enthusiasm of those attending is testament to the affection for The Queen. Been lovely to celebrate and be made so warmly welcome by all #HM70 @MidUlster_DC @ECMFCM

Earlier with @carlalockhart I had the humbling experience of spending time in the company of Adam Watson in Banbridge. Adam is 9 and has leukaemia. His courage and humour are inspiring. He has created a charity to support others. Let’s support him

After an intense visit to the 🇺🇸and a Q&A open to the public tonight in Belfast I am back @HillsCastle to stillness and calm. There is a joyous expectancy in the air ahead of the historic few days ahead. I’m looking forward to visiting every county in NI and meeting local people

On way home after a very productive week of engagement in the 🇺🇸 as ⁦@10DowningStreet⁩ Special Representative on the Northern Ireland Protocol. Great goodwill towards 🇬🇧and desire to see it resolved. Now to Northern Ireland for many community events to celebrate Jubilee

I really enjoyed my visit to @GuinnessUS in Baltimore yesterday to see the ties between 🇺🇸🇬🇧. They kindly gave me some of the other beers they produce in Maryland. Enjoying a couple in a garden in New Jersey after a very busy few days 🍺

Busy couple of days with meetings on Capitol Hill and State Department. And a chance encounter and impromptu question session with some US High School students touring DC. Seeing Churchill’s bust inside the Capitol building a powerful reminder of shared 🇺🇸🇬🇧history and values.

It was good to meet @SenatorHagerty to talk about the NI Protocol and the challenges the way it is being implemented is causing. Spoke of determination of @BorisJohnson and @trussliz to reach a negotiated solution with EU but to protect Belfast/Good Friday Agreement above all.

It was an honour to attend a service of thanksgiving today for the life of John Eden. He served Bournemouth West in the House of Commons with dedication and distinction from 1954 to 1983. I miss his encouragement, advice, humour and perspective greatly.

During my visit to ⁦@inspiredAUB⁩ today I met some interesting characters ahead of ‘Alice in Spring’ in Bournemouth town centre tomorrow and Sunday between 11am and 6pm.

The absolute priority of the UK Government is protecting the Belfast/Good Friday Agreement and the institutions that spring from it. As @SpeakerPelosi knows we seek an ambitious FTA with the US. But there can be no connection between that and doing the right thing for NI. None.

Couple of things slightly inaccurate about this article. 1. I did tell everyone I met that PM was visiting NI in advance. 2. I made clear that fixing implementation of Protocol was a stand alone and not linked to any trade ambitions
